Why should people with fancy game consoles have all the American Idol-like fun? If what you really wanna do is sing then all you need is a microphone for your computer, a browser, and a strong set of pipes - and this fabulous website: Karaoke Party!

Karaoke Party challenges you to plug in your mic, pick a song, and then click "Sing." And then you, uh, sing. Belt your little heart out!

You can also compete against other users, so I'm off to go kill some people at Abba songs.

Geeky Bachelorette Parties - Ideas and Inspiration

Yes, it's still Wedding Season, and if your mailbox full of invites is any indication, it's going to be a busy summer filled with fittings, dinners and my personal favorite, bachelorette parties. While we all know geeky bride and groom cakes are all the rage, word is geeky bachelorette parties are on the rise as well. No, you aren't required to wear your geekiest tee shirt, or bring your laptop, but many video-game-loving ladiez opt to plan video game tournaments, karaoke festivals and Dance Dance Revolution competitions - mixed with a few cocktails and yummy treats of course!

Video Game Competitions: Plan a night filled with girlie cocktails, food and a good old fashioned video game competition. If you are renting a hotel room or in a foreign space make sure you plan ahead and have enough room for Dance Dance Revolution (trust me it gets a little wild) and wii sports because both will help you burn off all those drinks.

Karaoke: If there's no fantastically cheesy karaoke bar in your city or town (you know the kind where you think "gosh, a bachelorette party would be perfect here!") and you don't own a karaoke machine, consider getting a nifty karaoke program like Singstar or Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol for your video game console. If neither of those work, your local video game store will have an option for your console, trust me, they're a hit.

The song pack costs $7 and includes the songs "Oops! I Did It Again," "(You Drive Me) Crazy," "Born to Make You Happy," "I Love Rock 'n’ Roll," and "Stronger." Geek Tip: Apple + F to Search Web Pages on Macs

So now that you have some other keyboard shortcuts down, let me share a little story with you. A friend of mine recently had an awesome Karaoke party at a local club. Thankfully, they had the song list online so I could check out what songs I knew before I went . . . and inevitably butcher once I got on stage. I have a few solid standby hits I had my eye out for, but once I got to the song options online, I found out just how long of a list it was! Would I spend hours scouring over the songs just to find my fave tune? Oh, no my friends. I used my trusty open Apple + F to search the page. Natch.

Open Apple + F is a useful shortcut tool if you want to find specific keywords on a web page. Using Firefox or Safari, the search field will pop up in a small corner of your browser (I use Firefox, so it comes up in the lower left corner), just type in the word you are looking for. Your keywords will then be highlighted so you can get right to the meat of what you are looking for - no dillydallying around. Open Apple + F is to your web-page searches what Finder is for your desktop search. Try it, you might like it!

Next Guitar Hero List Announced - 80's-o-rific

Just months after Gene Simmons from the popular hairband KISS get nostalgic to promote the launch "Guitar Hero 2" for Xbox 360, the game's maker, Activision, has announced Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s. The PlayStation 2 exclusive will feature some of the sweetest tunes to ever hit the airwaves. The complete lineup hasn't been released, but the teaser includes:

I Wanna Rock (by Twisted Sister)
I Ran (by Flock of Seagulls)
Round and Round (as made famous by Ratt)
I Want Candy (as made famous by Bow Wow Wow)
Metal Health (as made famous by Quiet Riot)
Holy Diver (as made famous by Dio)
Heat Of The Moment (as made famous by Asia)

Guitar Hero is a music video game for the PlayStation 2 video game console - although it was recently released for Xbox as well.

It features a guitar-shaped peripheral (resembling a miniature Gibson SG) as the primary controller to simulate the playing of an electric guitar. It's quickly gained a reputation as one of the best rhythm games to come around in awhile.

The game gives you all the excitement and thrill of being a rock star without leaving your living room, bedroom or office, and features unique characters and concert venues that grow in size as your music career progress. The title includes more than 30 licensed rock songs including tracks made famous by such legendary artists as Boston, Red Hot Chili Peppers, David Bowie, Sum 41, Ozzy Osbourne, Audioslave, White Zombie, Franz Ferdinand and The Ramones.

The officially licensed Guitar Hero SG Controller was designed specifically for use with Guitar Hero. This guitar-shaped controller is held just like a real guitar and features five responsive fret buttons, a durable strum bar, a working whammy bar, and stylized START and SELECT buttons that resemble a guitar's actual volume knobs.
