I may be in the tech scene so to speak, but there are always a few websites that I can't seem to get access to. Why? Because they are exclusive, which means — invite only!

I wrote about eVite and Pingg alternative Crusher when it was brand-new in 2007, but I've never actually known anyone to use it, until last week, when I got a Fourth of July invitation to a barbecue via Crusher.
I was seriously impressed: clean lines, tools like polls to figure out the best date for everyone, and awesome features like avatars and html snippets (so you could add your own maps or widgets). I was so impressed, in fact, that I started drafting up an invite for my next soiree!

We may be smack dab in the middle of holiday season here on the Sugar Network, but I can't help but share with you this crazy-fun find to whet your palate for next year's wedding season. We already have enough geeky wedding ammo to fuel an entire ceremony, so this 8-Bit wedding invite is the icing on the cake (pun intended).
Complete with binary code speech bubbles, the vintage feel of this wedding invitation I spotted on BuzzFeed has me longing for my arcade days.

Picture this: You just had the date of your dreams, so when he invites you to his place for a little night cap, you immediately say yes without hesitation. After a glass of wine, your stomach starts rumbling and you realize that extra spicy Tandoori chicken dish maybe wasn't the best ordering option for your first date. Next thing you know, you're in his bathroom, wondering how you'll be able to drown out unwanted restroom noise.

What do George Lucas and the new Droid have in common? More than you'd think! I'm stoked to get my hands on the new device being offered up by Motorola to see if it really can top my iPhone, but when I got an invite to the San Francisco launch party I noticed something interesting at the bottom: the word "droid" is licensed to Lucasfilm LTD, which means Motorola pays a fee to the Star Wars icon to use his trademarked term.

Woohoo! I was just notified that I was approved for a hot "invite only" Google Voice phone number! If you haven't checked out Google Voice yet, you should.

I love experimenting with different fonts on my computer, especially if I'm creating a special invitation. Unfortunately, there's only so many times I can pass off Comic Sans as handwriting. (Guilty!) While I think it's the closest preloaded font to my handwriting, it's already too recognizable to pass off as my own.

When was the last time you received a piece of snail mail that wasn't a bill, invite or subscription? As we've become more and more dependent on our portables and inboxes, our mailboxes have become less and less personal. While there are some pretty sweet online postcard services, print cards can be treasured forever — or at least they can't be deleted.

I'm sure you all know and love eVite for sending quick and easy invitations. But I've come across an interesting situation with some of my non-tech-savvy pals: they can go days (even weeks) without checking their email, causing them to miss out on fun evenings cause they didn't get the notice! Can you imagine?!

I've sung the praises of the stylish online invitations site Pingg before, but sometimes these awesome sites can get lost in the mix! I'm here to jog your memory for two reasons: The 81st annual Academy Awards are this Sunday, and if you are planning on having a get together for this event, Pingg is at your service with some great ecard templates.
If you're a new user, just sign-up for a free account and then click on the Academy Awards option under the Events and Holiday tab.
