The Portable Cuby Speaker For Your Shuffle

It's not everyday I see a speaker dock made for a shuffle. So when I saw this new "Cuby" dock on Fareastgizmos I was instantly intrigued. It was made for second generation shuffles and connects via the headphone jack or to your computer via a USB cable. Each dock comes with speakers built-in on both sides and can play continuously for five hours with three AA batteries. And the sound quality is pretty good, considering the small size of the Cuby. I'd say it would make the perfect portable speaker when traveling or when on-the-go. Priced around $33 and will be available for purchase this July.

5 Reasons to Love the New iPod Nano

One of the most exciting parts of yesterday's new iPod announcement was the introduction of a completely redesigned iPod Nano ($149). Gone is the traditional Apple click wheel - the iPod Nano now features a large multitouch screen to organize and play your favorite music.

I was impressed and to prove it, here are five reasons it's worth preordering a new iPod Nano:

It's smaller, lighter, and more portable than any other Nano. The latest generation is nearly half as big and weighs nearly half as much as the previous iPod Nano. And it features a Shuffle-like clip to attach it to your jacket, shirt, pocket. . . whatever. No more armbands!
A rotating screen keeps controls accessible. The iPod itself clips onto you easily, so to make the controls easy to reach, images on the square screen rotate when you turn them using two fingers. There's no motion sensor, so the screen won't flip back around like an iPhone's if you move the Nano. You can position the screen completely upside down while it's clipped to your pocket, or sideways when it's clipped to a shoulder strap.

The New Samsung U3 USB MP3 Player

Samsung has just come out with a new compact mp3 player that looks like a cross between the nano and the shuffle. Featured on CrunchGear, the Samsung U3 USB mp3 player comes in 1GB ($79), 2GB ($99), and 4GB ($149) sizes and is charged/docked via a USB connection. All you have to do is plug it into the port and drag and drop music - just like you would do with an iPod. Each player features an LCD display screen, a FM radio, voice recording and file storage. If the pink isn't screaming your name, they also come in green, blue, white and black. Expect to see them in stores by the end of the month.
