6-Way Charging With The Chargepod

This useful gadget should be labeled the charger of all chargers, or at least celebrated for its shape. With the callpod charger by Chargepod you can charge not one, not two, but six devices at once with a little extra arty flare. I probably would have laughed at this invention five years ago, but now that almost every device needs to be charged via USB it seems more than practical. You can use it for your PDA, iPod, cell phone, headsets, MP3 players and other devices (regardless of the manufacturer or model-just don't try to charge your laptop) with only one single power cord. Featured on Gizmodo, this fantastic charger will eliminate the multiple chargers lingering in your purse or drawer...not to mention the time you will save trying to decipher which charger goes with each gadget! When I first saw a price of $50, I thought score - That's less than $10 per individual gadget charger. But then I realized the exact opposite was true, each adapter on top of the base charger is $10 extra, which means the callpod will cost you $110 for all six adapters. To see a gallery, just read more
This charger is compatible with 3G, 4G, 5G, photo, mini and nano iPod's and also has a built in FM antenna. Is it just me, or does this iPod accessory look like a toy? I guess if it's Hello Kitty, is various hues of pink and is alot of fun, I have a hard time believing it is the real deal!

Solar Charge Your iPod and Phone

I recently read that the earth receives more energy from the sun in just one hour than the world uses in a whole year. Ever since, I've become determined to use solar power to light my way and power my gadgets whenever possible. The solar ipod + phone charger is the perfect example of a small, chic and simple way to recharge your gadgets without plugging into a socket.

It has three wings that leaf open to catch sunlight for solar power. The battery can then recharge iPods and cell phones using the latest solar technology - whether or not the sun is shining. The kit includes a cable for use with iPod minis and larger iPods. The adapter kit for use with mobile phones is sold separately. Get the solar ipod + phone charger for $99.

The Socket Pocket Charging Station

This iPod charging station might not be a cozy nap zone like the iPod load thing, but it works just the same. With the Socket Pocket, you can conveniently charge your gadgets right beside the outlet so you don't have to worry about tripping on cords or stepping on your iPod. Featured on 7Gadgets, this charging station can also be used to juice up your cell phone or camera. And if all else fails, you could always use it as a pen/post-it note holder. Choose from tan or white. Priced at $12 for a pack of two.

Some Shine Charger Juices Up Gadgets, Decorates Your Home

Unlike some other solar chargers that require special adapters to charge your gadgets, and, you know, the availability of the sun, the Some Shine Solar Charger allows you to juice up your gadgets at any time via a USB connector. How can you solar charge your phone without the sun you ask? Well, I'll tell ya.

The Some Shine collects the solar energy from the daylight hours through a special (and stylish) solar curtain, then stores it in a charging base for later use. You can then charge your phone, your iPod, your laptop at night, or whenever you want since you basically have your own solar energy plant at your fingertips. I'm a little bummed cause this product is still a concept, but I'd be first in line to get my hands on one!
Grid-It Gray From Flight 001

But with a phone, iPod, camera, cords, and chargers, keeping gadgets organized and cords tangle-free is a challenge.

I'm in love with the Grid-It organization system ($25) from Flight001. Overlapping rubberized elastic bands offer easy storage for even the strangest-shaped objects, and the entire grid is perfectly sized to fit right into my laptop bag. There's even a zippered pocket in the back for storing other small items. Knowing my beloved gadgets are safe and secure means one less travel stress.

Charge Your iPod Touch With the Sun Using This Case

I love my gadgets, but what happens when your cell phone or iPod needs to be juiced up and you're nowhere near a power supply and you managed to forget your iPod cord at home? Thanks to solar powered gizmos, you've always got a back up - well that is, if you have some sunlight to work with!

Novothink has created this hybrid solar iPod Touch charger case called the Surge (patent still pending), but unlike concept designs, this handy accessory will be available later this month for $70. The way it works is the case features 3.7 V lithium-ion battery that can either be charged via the sun (with the built-in solar panel) or by USB.

No word on whether they will come out with iPhone 3G and 3GS friendly versions.

The Globetrotter Solar Charger Keeps Gadgets Juiced Up

Even if you're planning a glamping trip this Summer (glamping as in glamorous camping), and you'll be staying at a hotel or two, we all know that there aren't any guarantees when it comes to finding ample outlets for charging gadgets.

Glamping or camping, the Globetrotter Solar Charger ($100) will surely come in handy for those who travel loaded with gadgets. This powerhouse charging device comes equipped with eleven connectors and connection cables (meaning you can charge you and your friends iPod, cell phone, DS Lite, and GPS device), it will work in all weather conditions, and only takes about four hours of sunshine to fully charge its solar panels. And its internal battery is said to power an iPod for 18 hours, a cell phone for 44 hours, a PSP for 2.5 hours and a PDA for 22 hours. How do you like them apples?

Mobile Survival Kit - Don't Leave Home Without It

If all goes well, I should be going on a weekend sailing adventure with a few of my friends in June, which is an amazing, sun-soaked experience the group looks forward to all year. It's heaven save for one thing - there are no electrical outlets so we are limited to charging our cell phones, computers and gizmos when we're docked at night. This year I'm coming prepared. I was planning on relying on the TuneJuice2, an iPod charger that runs off AA batteries and can provide up to 14 hours of additional audio play, but I found the Proporta Mobile Survival Kit, which will charge all my gadgets.

The kit is essentially a little USB rechargeable battery that plugs into any USB powered mobile device (phone, PDA, GPS, iPod, digital camera, etc.) and gives it that recharge juice it needs to keep working. In fact, the makers claim a fully charged Proporta Mobile Device Charger should be able to charge most mobile devices between three and five times from completely empty.

Apparently, "hard to charge devices," like the iPod 5G will recharge and play for up to three times longer when connected to the charger. A plus is the fact that the kit comes with adapters for Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones, and can be connected to UK, European, Australian and US region adapters (not included). This means so long as the charger has power (it is charged via USB on your computer), so will all the rest of your gadgets. The kit costs 44.95 and it's worth every penny.

To check out more pictures of the kit in action, read more

View 6 Photos ›

Note: The Proporta USB Mobile Device charger is not compatible with the Microsoft Zune.

Juice Up For Free: Solar Powered Chargers

While power from the sun is readily available, its usage and practicality are still a mystery to many. Solar chargers allow you the freedom to unplug from the wall and use natural light. Many battery chargers are continuously recharged via an array of photo-voltaic panels that convert light into free energy - meaning you can charge your devices whenever, wherever.

Of course, if there's no light available or you're in a terrible rush companies like Voltaic, which makes the battery packs for the backpack on the right, also include automobile and world voltage AC charging adapters. You will have to spend a bit more for solar powered bags, but the small single device chargers (say for your smartphone or iPod) cost about the same as regular travel chargers and will save energy, time and money in the long run.

Solar chargers used to be clunky devices that were best for home use, but now there are some great, moderately priced chargers that are small enough to fit in your suitcase and chic enough that airport security won't think it's a homemade bomb. If eco chic is your thing you can even charge your gadgets with a solar powered swim suit. Talk about hot.
