The Portable Cuby Speaker For Your Shuffle

It's not everyday I see a speaker dock made for a shuffle. So when I saw this new "Cuby" dock on Fareastgizmos I was instantly intrigued. It was made for second generation shuffles and connects via the headphone jack or to your computer via a USB cable. Each dock comes with speakers built-in on both sides and can play continuously for five hours with three AA batteries. And the sound quality is pretty good, considering the small size of the Cuby. I'd say it would make the perfect portable speaker when traveling or when on-the-go. Priced around $33 and will be available for purchase this July.

The USB Travel Dock won’t interfere with any adjacent cables, so you can prominently display your new 2G iPod shuffle right next to your laptop screen. It has a blue "Power on" LED indicator. I wouldn't say it's a gadget you have to have, but it's useful and saves space, which is always appreciated.

Note: My shuffle is wearing a Mophie Shuffle cover, which I actually haven't taken off since I put it on. Just wanted to make sure you knew it's not part of the USB charger.

Corega Japan has just come out with these tantalizing mini boombox docks that deliver quality output from their built-in speakers. While playing your tunes, you can connect the dock to your laptop or computer via the included USB port- therefore charging and transferring songs all at the same time. Featured on mobile magazine, the Corega CG-IPSPDC02 is powered with 2 AA batteries and comes in the same five colors as the Shuffle. These speakers are set to hit stores in Japan later this month with a price tag of $30.

Log iPhone Dock: Love It or Leave It?

My affinity for wood gadget accessories has come to this: an iPhone dock that looks like a log.

Though it's not as sleek as most iPhone docks usually are, I think it's kinda hot. The log dock ($68) is pretty organic, and not just in looks - made from real cedar, it must smell pretty lovely - but watch out for splinters! And besides, it's loads less creepy than the last wooden iPhone dock I posted.

OK group, it's time to rumble with your opinions on this chunk o' wood. Would you plug your iPhone into this? (P.S. - It's compatible with all other iPods too, except for the shuffle.)

Maybe it's just me, but doesn't this picture remind you of a "Go Go, My Walkin' Pup" toy? Designed by Wei-Lieh Lee and Kevin O'Callaghan, this dock in a dog jacket features a see through holder for your iPod and a spot for a remote control or shuffle at the end of the leash. Featured on Gizmodo, these iPod docks are sure to turn any dog into a walking boombox. It's scary, but true. Thankfully they are still in concept phase, so you won't see dogs sporting iPod jackets just yet. What do you think? Maybe the perfect accessory for a little Scottie dog?

Brando has just come out with these colorful USB adaptors that connect to 2G shuffles so you don't have to use the standard docking station. They are super tiny and can quickly charge your shuffle or transfer songs from iTunes.

The New Samsung U3 USB MP3 Player

Samsung has just come out with a new compact mp3 player that looks like a cross between the nano and the shuffle. Featured on CrunchGear, the Samsung U3 USB mp3 player comes in 1GB ($79), 2GB ($99), and 4GB ($149) sizes and is charged/docked via a USB connection. All you have to do is plug it into the port and drag and drop music - just like you would do with an iPod. Each player features an LCD display screen, a FM radio, voice recording and file storage. If the pink isn't screaming your name, they also come in green, blue, white and black. Expect to see them in stores by the end of the month.
