Which Apple Rumor Is More Believable?

It's been a big week for Apple rumors. First, the press hyperanalyzed a statement from one notable industry insider, who brought up the possibility of the iPad 3 coming sometime this Fall. Then we heard that Apple may be developing another version of the iPhone that's smaller and less expensive than the current phone.

Even though the second version of the iPad has yet to be announced, much less released, a "hunch" has propelled it into the territory of speculation. Apparently, some feel that the iPad 2, which is already in production according to the Wall Street Journal, will be a relatively modest update to the existing iPad, adding cameras. The iPad 3, which will come soon after, would be a much larger upgrade - including the high-resolution screen.

Will the iPhone 5 Have a Curved Glass Display?

The latest iPhone 5 rumor to hit the scene: the iPhone 5 will come with a curved glass display, similar to that of the older generation iPod Nano. The next generation iPhone has already faced delays (its usual Summer launch date is expected to be pushed back into Fall), and a curved glass display could be another culprit: Digitimes is reporting that Apple is still trying to secure suppliers and glass cutters to manufacture the new glass design.

Handsets, like the Nexus S, already use a curved glass display for comfort. And while the iPhone 5 is said to be sticking to the same design as the iPhone 4 overall, there will be minor changes to take note of.

Gear Review: Nike+Armband For iPhone

Full disclosure: I am not a huge armband fan; I much prefer clipping a smaller iPod Nano or Shuffle to my shoulder during a run or other workout. But, after becoming addicted to music-streaming service Rdio, which requires a 3G or Internet connection to work, I decided to hit the treadmill with my new Nike+Armband for the iPhone ($34).

The arm band itself is extremely lightweight and made from nylon and spandex. It fits your phone very snugly; the only openings are for inserting the phone and attaching headphones. Volume and power buttons are covered by material but labeled appropriately. The front is made of a thin layer of plastic for access to the phone's screen and home button. The armband is thin and lined with velcro. Find out what I thought about it after the break.

During today's Apple "Let's Talk iPhone" event at the company's Cupertino headquarters, Phil Shiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, announced some exciting updates for the iPod Nano and iPod touch.

The latest iPod Nano offers compact design, multitouch display, volume buttons, integrated clip, internal pedometer, and FM radio. As of today, Apple is currently selling two nano sizes: 8GB ($129) and 16GB ($149) in seven different colors.

With the release of the iPhone 4S, Apple has made some drastic updates to the iPod touch. The 960-by-640 backlit LCD display screen now consists of 326 pixels per inch, making this the highest resolution iPod to date – a must for mobile gamers. iPod touch cameras are equipped to shoot 720p HD video, even in low-light conditions. Most notably, the iPod touch now uses iOS 5 software which sports 200 new features, including iMessage, a new free WiFi texting service, and Twitter integration. The updated iPod touch with iOS 5 and iCloud will be available Oct. 12 in classic black or white in 8 GB ($199), 32 GB ($299), or 64 GB ($399).

The Verizon iPhone hit stores this week, and in case you're looking to unload an AT&T iPhone, eBay's trade-in program could net you some extra cash to put toward the new device.
It's nearly Valentine's Day and after coming off of the holidays (where it seems like everyone who didn't break up got engaged), it's nearly wedding season. Hence, Google introduced Google Weddings, a centralized location for tools to help you with wedding planning - from creating your own website to staying organized, and more.
New this week: the Kyocera Echo, the first dual-screen phone that seems to take a nod from the Nintendo DS.
Also new this week: HP's TouchPad, a tablet device that will arrive sometime later this year. It features a 9.7-inch multitouch display, 16 or 32GB of internal memory, dual core 1.2Ghz processor, and a 1.3MP front-facing camera. . . but no pricing details yet.

Will 3G Access Come Standard in Future MacBook Airs?

Looks like Apple's MacBook Air may join the ranks of other ultra-portable laptops that come straight outta the box with the ability to access 3G signals from a wireless provider. A new survey has been sent to current MacBook Air owners that gauges interest in 3G connections and asks about data usage and storage. If the MacBook Air does end up getting 3G access, it could compete with Apple's already-popular (and celebrity-endorsed) iPad 3G. Why get a tablet when you can get a full-fledged computer?

There have been lots of rumors floating around about big-time changes coming to Apple's iPhone line (including an iPhone Nano and a totally revamped iPhone 5, to be exact), so the MacBook Air could just be one of many adjustments we see Apple making to its popular products.
