Geek Gear: Wrap Your Headphones Around Tetran

I adore hearing about gadgets and gizmos you readers found out there in the real world, so I was pleased as punch when Cherryluv e-mailed me to share her love for Tetran. Tetran is a small, colorful cable winder for your iPod or MP3 player's earbud headphones that reminds me of a bathtub toy combined with PacMan character. You can wind your cable around Tetran's body and use its mouth as a holder for your earbuds. It also comes with a removable ball-bearing style chain so you can attach it to your bag.

"I carry everything in my purse, including my iPod and its earphones," says Cherryluv. "Sometimes my earphone cord gets in the way of everything else in my purse, but now that I have a Tetran, the cord is secured and is staying in one spot until I want to use it! They're just really cute and can also be used as a foot massager and hand stress reliever." Tetran costs $12.95.

Super-Simple (and Cheap!) Earbud-Cord Storage

Sometimes even the most high-tech gadgets can be improved with the simplest of projects. Case in point: these earbud clips ($10 for a package of four) by PKOH. The colorful plastic clips slide secure your earbuds after wrapping them around your iPod.

I love this simple solution! No matter how carefully I try to store my iPod headphones, they're usually a tangled mess by the time I take them out of my bag - so I'm a huge supporter of cord management.

Headphone Print Boxers: Love or Leave?

As weird as geeky underwear may be, at least it's kept under wraps, so only those who see you in your skivvies will judge. What then, would you think of the wearer of these Headphone Boxers in the locker room or the bedroom?

Sure, he's passionate about being an audiophile, but the placement of those headphones bothers me. That just ain't right.

Then again, they're under pants and kind of a saucy, geeky secret. They could make a funny gag gift for a music buff, and they're only $5 on sale right now.

The Beat Goes On with Dr. Dre's New Headphones

Ableplanet Noise Canceling Headphones: Drown 'Em All Out

Saying I work in a noisy office is an understatement. In fact, it can get downright loud. When I'm trying to get my "geek on" and focus on my work, I often pop on my iPod and try to tune out the hustle and bustle around me. Until lately, I was using the regular Apple iPod Earphones because they are easy, light and always wrapped around my iPod. I may have been missing out. The Clear Harmony Noise Canceling Headphones from Ableplanet, $299, are an audio dream come true. Sure, they aren't as bling-bling or humongous as some of the other giant DJ headphones we've seen, but they do feature great noise canceling technology, in-line volume control for easy adjustment to safe listening levels and a removable cord.

They work with stereos, computers as well as CD, DVD and MP3 players, but sadly do not work with my new iPhone, which has a recessed headphone port and requires an adapter.

While I am more than comfortable using them in the office (they drown out excess noise like you wouldn't believe) I'd feel a little dorky traveling with them. If you are comfortable using big headphones in planes, trains and automobiles, they do come with a protective carrying case. Clearly, these are not budget headphones, but if you are looking to make an investment in noise canceling headphones these aren't a bad idea. After all, you'll probably use them everyday.

Fun and Functional Techie Finds For Kids

As much as I go ga ga for techie products targeted for adults, there are certainly some accessories for kids that make me drool just as much. It's a given that kids today are going to be exposed to all sorts of technology, so it's only fitting that they be included in all the gadget frenzy fun. Here are some of my favorite child friendly tech toys.

Yes, I'm afraid it's true, I am one of those iPod cord abusers who wraps her earphone cord entirely around her iPod when it's not in use. Sombrero Cord Management: Love It or Leave It?

I can't seem to get enough of these simplistic cable cord spools. I got so excited about the headphone cable wraps which were basically a colored clip and now I'm equally excited about this cord manager.
