Griffin Goes Hard Core With Elan Form iPhone Cases

Griffin is spicing it up for Summer with its limited edition Elan Form cases! These red and white protective shells come in two pieces - the first is made of leather to keep your iPhone stylin' and the second is made of polycarbonate to protect the goods. They maybe aren't as eccentric as the metallic Kate Spade case, but they sure are eye-catching. You can even pick one up for the fourth generation iPod nano. All Elan Form cases cost $30 each.

Griffin's Clarifi Case Improves the iPhone's Camera

As a photography nut, I'd never give up my camera for the one on my phone, but that doesn't mean that I don't constantly snap candids with my iPhone. Of course, it could be a better camera, but I wouldn't have dreamed it was so easy to improve it and protect it at the same time!

Griffin's Clarifi Case ($35) does much more than keep your phone safe from scratches; its built-in close-up lens covers the iPhone's lens, while enhancing the details and colors in your pictures.

Check out Griffin's side-by-side examples of photos taken with just the iPhone, and then one taken with the case. Pretty big difference, I'd say.

It's great for apps that read your pictures, scanning documents to email, and even just for taking the odd photo - who doesn't want a better camera phone?

Ask a Geek Girl: I Need a Good iPhone 3G Case

Although I've listed tons of new case options, there are still some of you that want something specific. Take Geek reader millarci, for example, when she wrote in to ask about which iPhone 3G case she should invest in:

I'm in the market for an iPhone 3G case. I prefer something clear, but want something that will protect my iPhone 3G from scratches, smudges, etc. So far, I'm leaning towards the Contour Flick, which seems to be a best-seller on the apple website. Any ideas?

Although the Contour Flick is a top seller on the Apple website, its reviews have been less than stellar. I personally picked up the Griffin Nu Form in white (pictured above), and it has been awesome. Not only does the Nu Form have a protective yet streamlined hard shell, it also comes stocked with a clear face cover so you can keep scratches off your screen. It never fails that I'll toss my keys into the designated "gadget compartment" of my bag and scratch up my goodies, but not with this bad boy.

An alternative to a case is a clear skin. Be warned that applying them can be a bit time consuming (getting all the corners and ends to match up), but I can attest that The Best Skin Ever (yup, that's the name) totally rocks! I've had one on my iPod for a while and recently slapped one on my iPhone to test it out. They've felt completely protected ever since. But of course, I think dropping my phone with just the skin to protect it would still cause my heart to skip a beat!

Griffin Runs an Apple Exclusive Club: The Powerdock

My quest for the perfect power hub seemed to come to an end with the West Elm Charging Station, but this little number has made me think twice about that declaration. If you have an extensive Apple product family like me, then you can appreciate this Griffin Powerdock that safely charges up to four iPods and/or iPhones at once. I like the sleek brushed metal casing that would add to my already futuristically bling'd out desk, but the extra grippy rubber base will keep me from worrying that my goods will take a tumble over the edge. I do live in an earthquake prone area - a girl can never be too protective of her gadgets, you know.

The Powerdock comes with two or four slots so you can accommodate your own toys, or share the charging real estate with your i-loving partner. Although the $50 - $70 price tag does seem a bit high for Apple-only charging capabilities, it is pretty chic, nonetheless. I'd rock it.

Macworld 2008: Griffin's RocketFM Transmitter

The "Something Is in the Air" Apple theme made its way into the Griffin booth during Macworld yesterday. At first glance I thought these rockets were small radios or even shuffle docs, but it turns out they have a much geekier purpose.

The RocketFM transmits music from apps like iTunes or Garage Band, and it can even stream Internet radio to any FM receiver within 30 feet. Totally useful if you have a Mac or PC in one room, but need to rock out in another. Since it's open to just about any FM frequency from 88.1 to 107.9, you are sure to find a signal all to yourself - just plug in and choose your station! Plus the design is oh so geek chic, I almost can't resist getting one for myself!

Griffin Creates Headphone Adapter for the iPhone

If you have an iPhone, you were probably just as furious as I was when I realized that my car adapter cord wouldn't fit into my iPhone's headphone jack. Unfortunately the iPhone headphone jack comes conveniently recessed so most standard headphones won't fit into the plug.
