Away From the Computer T-Shirt: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

I Am Away From My Computer T-Shirt

Yep, it's another piece of geeky apparel. This shirt calls to mind my college days of living on instant messenger, declaring, "I am away from my computer right now." This shirt comes in both men's and women's sizes and is from the same company that makes another one of my favorite geeky tees. I like this t-shirt, but do think it's best worn un-ironically — i.e., when you are actually away Read more

I Heart Nerds T-Shirt: Love It or Leave It?

I have a soft spot for geeky t-shirts, but I'm not so sure how I feel about this cropped tee from Forever 21. It's only $11, and I'm obviously all for wearing my geek on my sleeve, but there's something about this one that's a little bit patronizing. What do you think? I Heart Nerds Tee: Love It or Leave It? Love it! Leave it! Read more

Thank You North Face For This Chic iPod-Friendly Jacket

I already have two North Face jackets — one for cold weather and one for wet and windy weather — but now I'm thinking I may need to add another one to my collection because this Femphonic Audio Jacket ($349) is just what this gadget girl needs. Not too long ago I told you about the Radiance Jacket by Mountain Hardwear, which comes with a padded heater and a built-in power pack for charging Read more

Would You Pay $34 For Gloves With Missing Fingers?

Gloves For Using Your Gadgets In the Cold

The price seems a little steep, but at $34, these Etre Touchy Gloves do solve a basic problem: using your iPhone, iPod, computer, or other touch-screen device while wearing gloves. Most gadgets won't respond to a woolly glove, only bare skin. In theory, I like these. And on days that the temperature doesn't dip too low, I guess they're practical — but I still think they're a bit silly-looking. Read more

Arcade Fingerless Gloves: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

Space Invaders Fingerless Gloves From Urban Outfitters

This is one pair of gloves I wouldn't call practical — but they're kind of cute. Though they won't keep your fingers warm in the Winter chill, the Snow Day Arcade Fingerless Gloves ($16) will keep your fingers free for texting and, presumably, video-game playing. The gloves (hmm. . . can I call them gloves if they don't have fingers?) feature vintage video-game designs, like this Space Read more

Time T-Shirt: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

Geeky Time T-Shirt

Rocking a geeky watch is one thing, but this Time T-Shirt ($37) with a fully-functional digital clock ups the ante. The shirt uses electro-luminescence technology — a very weak electric current that passes through the shirt, causing the material to generate light and display the time. Don't worry, it doesn't radiate heat or use hazardous materials. The shirt is powered by two AAA batteries (ha! Read more

Geeky Apparel: Princess Leia Earmuffs

It's no wonder Han Solo thought Princess Leia was such a catch with hair so thick she could wrap it up into two beautiful buns. Now you can have some Princess Leia lookalike fun with this Leia Earmuffs Beanie ($25). Even if you're not a huge Star Wars fan, this hat and earmuffs combo is a fun way to stay warm in the Winter. RCA Cable Tie Makes Office Geekiness Cute

I don't know if I like the idea of being more inconspicuous with a geeky tie, or if I think you should just go all out and say, this is my RCA Cable Tie ($30), and that's who I am! The design makes me think these are wearable though — bright, bold primary colors with the simple silhouette of the RCA cables on them. I mean, if you're going to resort to getting your dad another tie for the Read more

Fingerless Gloves: The Cold Weather Touchscreen Solution!

Each week my coats seem to get a little thicker as the temperature drops, and soon it'll be time to bundle up. My pet peeve of the cold weather is trying to press buttons on the iPod and otherwise use my iPhone's touchscreen while keeping my hands warm in gloves. A few Winters ago, I got used to just taking off my gloves when I needed to use the clickwheel (or, I'm not proud to admit, using a Read more
