The makers of the SlouchPod claim that this interactive chair represents the next generation in Beanbags. I was never a huge fan of beanbag chairs, but this one may be an exception as it is completely wired for gaming and entertainment purposes. The SlouchPod features a digital control panel for mp3 players, games consoles, your TV or DVD, a computer or stereo. There are also built-in speakers with a subwoofer so you feel like you are in the center of all the action.
The only major boo-hoo about this chair is its hefty $600 price tag. But then again, Lazy Boy chairs are uber expensive, and they only massage you.

Geek Gear: Relaxation Sound Chair

I adore reading about luxury gadgets I would never purchase - from $20,000 gold and diamond encrusted iPod shuffles to $800 Titanium iPod Nano Cases. What I don't understand are semi-luxury items (as in items you don't really need, but might want) that aren't even all that luxurious.

The Relaxation Sound Chair from Brookstone aims to be one of those highly-coveted gamer and music enthusiast items, yet its function is lacking. It's just a regular chair that rocks on the floor and has a plug in slot for your MP3 or CD player. Of course there's also a headphone jack for private listening. The chair costs $139, which may sound inexpensive, but I for one seriously question the necessity or draw. Can't you just sit in your rocking chair and listen to your iPod? Call me when this baby will give me a massage and pedicure.

Jesper Video Game Playing Chair: Love It or Leave It?

Everyone sits a little differently when they're playing video games - different, at least, from how they sit while watching TV. Is it any surprise then, that someone would make a seat for video game play?

This is Ikea's new Jesper Bench ($70), which is a brilliant idea (much better than those decor-unfriendly and juvenile low seats from the '90s), but when you see someone on it, using it for how it's supposed to be used. . . well, you see the problem.

I don't know that I'd want to look like I was riding a racehorse while playing Tony Hawk. The simple looks of it are great, the intent wonderful, but the result. . . I just do not know.

What do you think? Would you ride, I mean, sit on this while playing video games?

I'm suddenly obsessed with creating the perfect home gaming setup, but without the goofy chairs made for kids.

The Beadboard Media Gaming Console fits that grown-up bill, despite being featured on Pottery Barn's younger site, PB Teen. No matter - the price tag ($1,000) is grown up.

In any case, there's a spot for all your awesome black boxes - Wii, Xbox, PS3, TiVo - as well as plenty of shelving to stash games nicely.

We've seen our fair share of techie chairs - from the iMedia chair, which looks like something that belongs in a hospital building, to the Souchpod chair, which is a fancy beanbag chair with digital control panels for mp3 players, games consoles, your TV or DVD, a computer or stereo. What we haven't seen is a chair that can take you on a magical, spirit lifting trip at the sound of your voice. The Inada Robo Chair Massage Recliner with Voice-activated System may do just that.

It features a voice-activated system that can adjust your reclining angle up to 170 degrees. Your voice can also activate the massage programs, position the 3D roller mechanism and regulate intensity. The massage recliner comes with three pre-programmed massage sittings for full body relief. It costs $5,999, but no one ever said you could get that kind of luxury for free.

Wii Fit Fitness Journal: Week One

So far, me and the Wii Fit are good pals. He knows how to make me laugh, how to sweat, and shows me what I'm made of - we're a good pair. This week, although a few days short of a full seven days of dissecting WF, it was a good one. I can tell from the soreness in my hips and abs that the time put into perfecting my Hula Hooping skills is paying off. Additionally, I've found that my endless tree and warrior poses are indeed helping my flexibility! Who knew that in the first week I could feel this many results off of a game.

At first, I thought that I may get bored with the same games every day, but thankfully, every ten minutes you put in on the Wii Fit, opens up a new activity. And every time you repeat an activity, a new difficulty level challenges you for a better, longer, or harder workout. Last night I ran the moderate trail on my run and actually broke a bit of a sweat! No kidding! Although there's been no change yet to my BMI, I did have some fun and made a few technical notes along the way that may help you in your Wii Fitness journey. To find out what they are, read more.

Use your Wii Fit on a hard surface or low pile carpeting to get the most accurate weight results. If you don't have either, try placing the Wii Fit on a plastic chair runner or place mat for the body test portion. Just remember to remove it after being weighed, so you don't slip!
You can log extra activity into your profile to add to your daily totals. From your profile page, click the graph, and then "Activity Log" to record your time at the gym, hitting the pavement, or even doing dishes!
You can skip the demo portion of the exercise by hitting "Try It."
