Play the Twilight Movie Game on Your Cell Phone

Counting down the days until the release of New Moon? Me too! Thankfully there are fun Twilight-inspired games to keep you entertained before the big day. I've already talked about the interactive Twilight Tracker app, but there's now a new game from Summit Entertainment and RealArcade for AT&T cell phone owners called the Twilight Mobile Game.

This new game can be downloaded on any AT&T handset (all wireless carriers will be available in the next few weeks) from here and includes hundreds of trivia questions from the movie. Unfortunately the game isn't free (costs between $7-$10 depending on your cell phone), so maybe the cheaper $3 Twilight Tracker iPhone app is a better option for those on a budget. The I Say App: A Modern Day Version of Simon

As a child of the eighties, my life revolved around things like Rainbow Brite, New Kids On the Block, crimped hair, She-Ra and a game called Simon. If you weren't a part of the Simon generation, it was this giant plastic round memory that consisted of four large colored buttons - red, blue, green and yellow. The game would start by lighting up one color, and you'd repeat it back, and then a longer, more difficult color sequence would ensue. When you messed up, the game would be over. There was also a multi-player option, but because I was usually "borrowing" the game from my sis, I opted for me vs. Simon.

To pay tribute to one of my favorite games from the past, I've downloaded the free I Say iPhone App. In a nutshell, I Say is Simon for the iPhone, except with cool new sound effects and prettier colors.

Xmas Eve Time Waster: Light Up Tree

If you're at home today twiddling your thumbs, here's a fun way to not only get into the Christmas spirit, but to get your game on as well! Light Up Christmas Tree is a skill-testing logic puzzle that provides some quality time wasting fun.

The object of the game is to connect all the wires and lightbulbs to the electrical source. To rotate the bulbs and wires, just click on them. Just start at the bottom of the tree and work your way up. Good luck!

Website of the Day: TV Loop

Formerly just a popular Facebook app, TV Loop has gone indie and launched its own website - think of it as a hub of TV paradise mixed in with its own social network.

Once you sign up, you customize your homepage by picking your favorite TV shows, past and present. From there, fun clips, trivia quizzes, photos, and quotes from those shows that cover your screen. The constant trivia quiz (yes, I aced the Gilmore Girls one) already had me losing a half hour of my time. Time well spent, though.

I know that this long list looks scary, but trust me, once you get the hang of it, it'll be a snap the second time around.

First of all, join the Website of the Day group.
Click the pink "Share" menu on the top left side of the page.
Choose "Blog" and "Regular Post."
Give your story a "Title."
Fill in the "Body" with a link to your favorite website and the reasons why you love it.
Click "Next."
Choose the audience for your story to "Website of the Day" in the dropdown menu.
Add keyword(s) (for example mine for this photo was "Website of the Day").
Change channel to "Technology and Gadgets."
Fill in tag field with relevant tags.
Click "I’m done" to submit content.

So join the Website of the Day group and share information about all your favorite sites! Yours just might end up on the geeksugar homepage!

Hori Joystiks: Where Have You Been All My (Adult) Life?

I'm totally blown away that I have not purchased both of these Xbox 360 and PS3 fighting joysticks already! Where's my credit card? If you spent as much time as I did trolling the neighborhood pizza-joint arcade, you recognize my excitement. The Hori Fighting Stick for the Xbox 360 and PS3 ($60 and $50 respectively) totally bring back the joy of banging on buttons and thrashing the joystick during Mortal Combat, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - or whatever your fighter of choice was back in the day.

Amazon reviewers are saying to stick with fighting games if you want to get the best results with these bad boys. So unfortunately, that means if you're looking forward to a rousing session of Burnout Paradise, it's wise to stick with your usual controller.

Spooky and Scary Games For Your Halloween

I'll be the first to tell you that some video games freak me out. I won't even get into how Doom 3 gave me nightmares for days - mechanical spiders with baby heads, anyone? - but yet I still kept playing! I must be a sucker for a scary game, especially if it's a good one. Halloween is fast approaching, and If you're planning a soiree this year, why not have a few freakishly scary games on hand for your party goers to play? Spore Origins Hits the iPhone and iPod Touch

Although Steve announced its release yesterday at the Let's Rock presentation, I got a chance to play with the newest game to hit the App Store at the Spore Release party last week. Spore Origins officially launched for the iPod Touch and iPhone on Monday and comes in at a cool $10 for your gaming pleasure.

Although the full version of Spore on your Mac or PC will take you all the way through Cell to Space stages, Spore Origins is condensed down into 30 levels in the Cell stage only (which was one of my faves anyway). You still get your chance to create, mold, and evolve as a creature, and of course you still get to hunt your food and (even sometimes be hunted) in your pool of muck. The iPhone and iPod Touch's accelerometer acts as your steering device, so you're getting the full experience of Spore on the go, but the extra added benefit of twisting and turning your iPhone or iPod to get where you need to go in the game.
