Disney Debuts Computer-Based DIY Thrill Ride

The joy of playing roller coaster Tycoon on the PC is that you get to create the roller coaster of your dreams. You know, the kind you were always too short to ride as a kid? But at Walt Disney World in Florida, Mickey is taking things one step further and letting you design your own actual roller coaster, and then setting you off in a virtual world to enjoy it.

Called "The Sum of All Thrills", this DIY experience has you choosing dips, turns, and loops on a computer tablet, then hopping into a robotic car to test your creation. I'm in love with this idea, since there are an endless combination of possibilities, meaning you'll probably never get the same ride twice. However, this doesn't mean that I would replace the thrill of a regular roller coaster with a VR one on a regular basis. The good news for us coaster fans is that VR rides are pretty expensive to produce. Personally, I think traditional roller coasters are here to stay, and virtual coasters are just the icing on the cake.

It figures that Stormtroopers would be break dancin' and chillaxin' with all the hell they raise during the day. They need a break! Or so Star Wars fan Cindi Geeze thinks. Also a photographer (as you'll notice that her images are breathtaking as well as whimsical), Geeze was spotlighted by Underwire and my only complaint, from one Star Wars fan to another, is that I need to see more! Oh man, it doesn't get much dirtier than this. For all the geeks in your life that constantly have their minds in the gutter, you know, the ones who like things like this. . . well they can now have their hands up a skirt all day long with this skirt mousepad cover by Rinkya - yes, harmless to some, while completely disturbing to others. For only $8, you can keep your mouse and mousepad sheltered in this jean skirt while surfing the net. Where's Waldo on Google Earth? Genius!

Mixing art with technology is exactly what Media Arts student Melanie Coles did for her graduating project. . . and it is bigger (literally) and better than most grad art assignments I've encountered (yes she deserves an A!). Melanie's project, entitled Where On Earth Is Waldo creates a Google Earth Where's Waldo inspired game. With the help of volunteers, Melanie and her team were able to create a gigantic Waldo painting to be placed on rooftops throughout Vancouver, Canada. The best part? Waldo will only be seen via Google Earth, so the entire world can play "Where's Waldo: Google Earth Edition" as well!

The project will be exhibited at the Emily Carr Graduation Exhibit 08 opening May 3, 2008.

Ever been trolling your favorite online shop, cruising the virtual aisles when suddenly, something moves? Then runs? Then a yoyo hits some hangers which eventually triggers a fire, and it's just utter chaos?! Oh, no? This sort of thing only happens to me? Not anymore! Guess-the-Google: A Great Sunday Time Waster

If football doesn't float your boat but you still want to have some fun today, Grant Robinson has created a fun game called Guess-the-Google. Guess-the-Google shows twenty images arranged in a grid formation where you have to guess the keyword that created the montage. Once you open the website click Launch Project to open the game. You only get so many seconds and guesses, so play smart!

People Who Look Like Videogame Characters

I always knew that people tend to look like their pets, but I had no idea that there are so many people who looked like videogame characters (with the exception of Ron Jeremy looking like Mario, did I honestly just say that?).
