Battle of the Pocket-Sized Camcorders: How They Stack Up

Although a pocket-sized camcorder is perfect for seasonal vacations, they can come in handy all year-round which makes them the perfect holiday gift for a budding videographer. This year, I've been especially sweet on the Kodak Playsport HD, but there's been some other players that caught my eye as well - the Samsung E10 for example. It's a sleek looking camcorder, which not only boasts an HDMI out, USB connector, and 1920x1080 full-HD video capture, but a 2.7-inch touchscreen LCD screen to boot.

Flip Celebrates Movember With New Camcorder Designs

It seems that pint-sized digital camcorders are all the rage lately, so it's cool to see that some companies are putting their products to good use. Flip Video unveiled a few new moustache designs for its Ultra, Mino, and SlideHD cameras in honor of Movember, a charity that encourages men to grow moustaches in the month of November in order to raise money for men's health and prevention of cancer.

The cameras, which range in price from $149 to $249, come with all the usual specs of a Flip camcorder that you've come to know and love. Oh, and ladies, it's probably easier if you support your favorite man by grabbing one of these, instead of attempting to grow a 'stache of your own. If you try the latter, it may be a cold Movember, indeed.

If you tuned into the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards last night, you might have found that tech made quite the cameo before, and during the broadcast. Apparently, Pee-wee wasn't the only one that got his hands on the new Apple iPad before it hit stores, as funnyman Stephen Colbert brought his along to the show! Stephen whipped out his iPad during his hosting gig, asking his daughter if having one made him cool (she could only shrug), but kept it under wraps when he hit the stage a second time to accept his award for Best Comedy Album.

Earlier in the day, Ryan Seacrest was seen turning the tables and filming the red carpet from his point of view with a black Flip UltraHD camcorder. Finally, Michael Jackson's tribute was broadcast in 3D - did you don your glasses?

The New 8GB Flip MinoHD Features a Bigger Two-Inch Screen

Familiar with all of the pocket-sized Flip Video Cameras? Well the tiniest of the Flip family - the Flip Mino - has just introduced a new camera to its Flip MinoHD line.

You can now pick up a new MinoHD for $230 which can record up to 120 minutes of footage (which is double the time from the previous version) and it features a new 2-inch anti-glare display.

The 120 min MinoHD is currently only available in brushed metal, but after Nov. 9, you'll be able to personalize your new Mino with an image of your own or one from The Flip's design gallery.

The Flip Ultra SD Video Cam vs. the New Nano

Now that the new iPod Nano is here, we're all elated at the fact that it features a larger, 2.2-inch LCD display and a built-in FM radio tuner, but the best part has got to be the included video camera. Being the owner of a Flip Video Camera - which is pocket-sized and very user friendly - I was tempted to see if the video quality on the new Nano is comparable to the Flip. The NewTeeVee crew decided to put both to the test in a side-by-side comparison.

As you'll see, the Flip quality is much better than the Nano, but if you were to compare the Nano to some cell phone video cameras, the Nano would win. Considering the fact that the 8GB Nano (which records up to eight hours of footage) only costs $149, it's not too shabby for a camera that you can easily put in your purse or back pocket - and hey, it even plays music!

Ellen DeGeneres's Awards Show Must Have: A Video Camera

Last night at the Teen Choice Awards in LA, funnywoman Ellen DeGeneres made sure to capture every eventful moment with her pocket-size Flip Mino Camcorder. This isn't the first time we've seen her accept an award while filming the entire experience; back in 2006 at the 32nd Annual People's Choice Awards, she brought along her Sony Handycam.
