Ever since Firefox and I have patched up our rocky relationship, I've been looking at new ways to spruce up my favorite Internet browser. The FF add-on ColorfulTabs (I couldn't imagine my virtual world without it!) has added the perfect amount of oo la la to not only my browser, but my screen appearance in general. But I'm loving my latest add-on, TooManyTabs, because it provides you with an extra Firefox row, so you don't have to scroll through all your tabs to see them - making it much easier to find specific tabs!

I feel like every holiday season, there's at least one gadget that everyone is trying to get their hands on - remember the instanity with the Wii?

If there's a certain product that you're waiting to come back into stock, but you don't want to have to keep searching Amazon every day to see if it's available, there's a download called Buy Later, which will come in handy.

After downloading this Firefox extension, Buy Later will add a button to Amazon.com webpages and monitors when specific products come back in stock. You will then either receive an email or tweet notification so you know you can get the goods!

If you have multiple Gmail accounts, you probably need a little bit of assistance organizing them. Recently, Gmail Labs launched the mega-helpful multi-pane functionality; another great organization tool is the Firefox add-on Gmail Manager.

You can easily switch between your accounts, and can view unread messages, saved drafts, labels with new mail, and new mail snippets. I only use one Gmail account, but have thought about integrating more for different purposes, so it's nice to know that if I ever do, there are awesome tools at my disposal.

The faster I can update my social network statuses, the better, especially for the rapid-fire pace of Twitter. There's already a Firefox download for making Twitter updates from your address bar, but throw the word "fox" into it, and I'm a sucker (case in point).

TwitterFox works seamlessly from your Firefox browser window (and it's only for Firefox, if that wasn't obvious enough) to bring you the up-to-the-minute updates of your friends.

It's a great alternative if you haven't wanted to take the plunge to download a separate app for Twitter like Nambu or TweetDeck.

Use Social Whale to Quickly Shorten URLs

The uber helpful Tinyurl is great for sending shortened links to friends and posting on Twitter, but it sure does take a lot of steps to complete the task. First you have to copy the link, go to Tinyurl, paste, make your link tiny, then go back over to your Twitter page (or email draft, IM, whatever) and paste the shortened link. Sounds like a lot of steps, right?

With the new Firefox extension called Social Whale, the process of shortening a URL has been reduced to two steps. Yes, two. Social Whale is free to download to Firefox, and adds a small whale icon to the bottom right of your browser for safe keeping. Once you're on a page you want to link to, all you have to do is click on the whale icon, and Social Whale automatically shortens the link and copies it to your clipboard. Then, the only thing you have to do is paste the link into your email, IM, or Twitter page. You're then free to continue your web browsing, knowing you just saved yourself like a whole 10 to 20 seconds of time. Personally, I need all the time I can get.

Social Whale also works hand-in-hand with Twitpic to upload photos to Twitter as well. Just by right clicking on the whale icon, you'll get an option to upload a photo. Simple, and so so easy.

Fire FM Download Combines the Power of Firefox and Last FM

Being able to trick out my browser is one of the reasons I love Firefox. Being able to trick Firefox out with music extensions makes me love it unconditionally.

First I added on FoxyTunes, which let me control iTunes directly from my browser window, and now there's Fire FM.

Fire FM adds a skinny little bar to Firefox, and then boo-ya, you've gotten access to Last FM's entire library of music. Just go to the bar, select a station or an artist station, and get groovin'. Anything that lets me rock out with as little effort as possible has a fan in me.

Use KwiClick to View Videos, Links, Maps In One Window

When it comes to browsing on the web, I like to think that I've conquered the quick multisearch method. That was, until I found out about KwiClick, a new Firefox extension that makes web searches. . . that much faster (and easier).

The best way I can describe KwiClick is by having you visualize all of those times you need a web page - to see search results, to view a link for a YouTube video, to post something on Twitter - and imagine being able to do all of those things from the page you're currently looking at. Those 50 tabs you have open? Yeah, KwiClick should help eliminate many of those tabs.

You can also search sites like Wikipedia, Twitter, and YouTube and input addresses to instantly view maps - from one web page.

Geek Tip: Tweet From Your Firefox Address Bar

It may seem like overkill, but I have more than a few ways to access Twitter: signing in to Twitter online, using my iPhone, as well as signing in on my BlackBerry. But still, I'm always on the lookout for a faster and easier way to tweet. Sometimes, your tweet just can't wait. For this reason, I'm now a big fan of Twitterbar.

As an extension to your Firefox browser, Twitterbar couldn't be easier to use: just type your tweet into your address bar, then hit the Twitter icon to post to your account. Downloading is free, but you will have to allow the third-party app to access your Twitter account. So next time you're surfing around at your desk and an earthquake hits, you'll be the first to post about it. Besides, being first is a geek's ultimate goal anyway, isn't it?

Website of the Day: VideoSurf

Or what about those times when your friends or co-workers are talking about that memorable Oscar moment when the camera cut to Brad and Angelina when Jen took to the stage? If you're ever on the hunt for a snip-it of a video clip, VideoSurf has got you covered. They will help you find those specific scenes with certain objects or people, so you don't have to watch the entire clip to find what you were looking for. They even have a downloadable Firefox extension so you can have easy access to this site and its clips.

Click "Next."
Choose the audience for your story to "Website of the Day" in the dropdown menu.
Add keyword(s) (for example mine for this photo was "Website of the Day").
Change channel to "Technology and Gadgets."
Fill in tag field with relevant tags.
Click "I’m done" to submit content.

Geek Tip: Send Links Without Page Jumping

Jumping pages wastes time. You know, like when you see a link you want to send to a pal, you have to copy the link, open a new tab, sign into your email, paste the link, etc. You jump from one page to another, hence page jumping. So if you're the type to send a lot of links (and are a Firefox user) you may want to check out the Email This add-on.

Email This allows you to highlight the text you want to send, click the toolbar button on your browser, then from a pop-up window, Email This will automatically populate the title, address, and highlighted text into a message so you can send your link and be on your way without leaving your page. It's saved me quite a bit of time, since I love sending links. I bet you would have never guessed that about me, right?
