While walking home from work the other night, I noticed an unexpected sign in the window of my favorite Walgreens, reminding the customers that yes, they still develop rolls of film. I can't recall the last time I had a roll of film developed, but someone must be asking Walgreens staffers about it if they felt the need to put up a notice. Of course, maybe it has something to do with the fact that most of us have gone digital and customers are occasionally bringing in disks, but not rolls. When was the last time you had a roll of film developed?

Even though I look forward to the megapixel number for digital cameras and cell phone cameras increasing, don't think I'm not a wistful, sometimes very old-fashioned person. I miss the look of film sometimes - its richness and romance that digital, with its sharp edges and modern beauty, lacks. That's why I've been thinking about getting a film camera lately.

Urban Outfitters has a lot of vintagey cameras, but none of them have really tempted me until I saw the Diana+ Dreamer camera. An all-plastic reproduction from a '60s model, the Diana's simplicity ensures beautiful, dreamy images - think Virgin Suicides. Add to that the fact that its mint green color means it can be displayed without being an eyesore and that it comes with a Diana book filled with images and history, and you've got a sale, my friend.

The Artist Has a Big Night at the BAFTAs With Brad, George, Penelope, and More

London's Royal Opera House was buzzing with stars as the BAFTAs kicked off last night. Brad Pitt popped up on the UK red carpet after attending the Berlin Film Festival premiere of In the Land of Blood and Honey with Angelina Jolie on Saturday. He was up for best actor, as was his pal George Clooney, who mingled with Colin Firth and his wife, Livia Giuggioli, on their way into the show. Presenter Penelope Cruz got glamorous in red while nominees Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, and Meryl Streep followed suit in gorgeous gowns. Michael Fassbender was back in front of the cameras following a win at yesterday's Irish Film and Television Awards in Dublin. Other guys to suit up for the event included Jon Hamm, Jonah Hill, Gary Oldman, and Jean Dujardin. Chris Hemsworth, who is up for the rising star award, also went with black-tie and posed alongside his pregnant wife, Elsa Pataky. What did you think of all the BAFTA red-carpet looks?

Brad, who wore a coat by Dolce & Gabbana over his tuxedo, didn't end up taking home BAFTA gold, since The Artist's Jean Dujardin was declared best actor. Meryl Streep added to her trophy collection with a best actress accolade for The Iron Lady. Octavia Spencer from The Help won best supporting actress, and the corresponding male honor went to Christopher Plummer for Beginners. The Artist also won best picture and best director. Whether they won or lost, many celebs were in a happy mood following the show. Meryl, Octavia, Chris, Elsa, and more went to the official afterparty, and the Weinstein Company hosted another of their famous bashes.

Angelina Jolie posed solo in a Miguelina dress at the premiere of The Lady during the Berlin Film Festival today. She's been on multiple carpets since arriving in Germany, including at her own screening of In the Land of Blood and Honey. Angelina had Brad Pitt by her side and wore a glamorous gold Jenny Packham gown for the big event. She'll continue her run in front of the cameras at an upcoming screening of Blood and Honey in Sarajevo, which she said she's both nervous and excited about since her film's subject is the Bosnian war.

Venice Beach got a star-studded dose of fun when Ashley Tisdale, Sarah Hyland, Austin Stowell, and Matt Lanter hit the sand for a photo shoot yesterday. Sarah, who was on a break from filming Modern Family, and Ashley wore bikinis and other beachwear while Matt and Austin rode bikes in flip-flops. It was an especially exciting afternoon for Sarah since she was celebrating her two-year anniversary with boyfriend Matt Prokop and shared her love for him on Twitter writing, "happy 2 years baby. I love you too much. Best 2 years ever!!" Matt Lanter has another busy day in front of him since he'll be back in front of the cameras for a photo shoot tomorrow morning before heading to the set of 90210.

Angelina's been talking about her directorial debut for the last few days and opened up about her life in the spotlight in a recent interview, saying that red carpets are just "that funny thing you do." She also shared her excitement and nervousness about taking Blood and Honey to Sarajevo since the film is based on the Bosnian war.
Angelina's overseas trip hasn't been just about business, though, since she took Maddox, Pax, and Shiloh to check out Legoland this week when she wasn't working.

Kodak Halts Camera Production: A Look Back at Its Vintage Beauties

Kodak announced today that it would be halting production of digital cameras, pocket video cameras, and digital picture frames in the first half of this year. The company will instead focus its business on retail-based photo printing and inkjet printers, camera accessories, and batteries, while seeking out licensing partners for future camera products.

Angelina Jolie Touches Down in Berlin With the Kids

Angelina Jolie and her children arrived in Berlin last night on a private jet. The family's in Germany for the Berlin Film Festival, where her directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey, will be screened on Saturday and Sunday. Angelina's movie has been out in the US since late 2011, but will hit theaters in Germany on Feb. 23, and opens in other European countries this week. Angelina and her children have traded sunny LA, where they were based over the last few weeks, for snowy Northern Germany. Brad and Angelina had a busy start to the year with their red-carpet rounds during award season. She'll be back before the cameras for her upcoming premiere, then she and Brad will return to California to attend the Oscars on Feb. 26.

Available in late March for $3,000, the D800 is still an investment piece, but for working photographers and videographers, it makes sure to pack impressive technical specifications within one device. A jaw-dropping 36.3MP CMOS sensor resolution puts the single digit megapixel cameras of the past to shame, and an ISO range of 100–6400 and HD 1080p video capture still images and video in nearly every condition.

Nikon partnered with filmmaker Sandro Miller to create Joy Ride, a five-minute short filmed entirely on the D800. We think the quality is stunning, emphasizing its work in low-light resolution and fast movements, though it's not for the squeamish as it does include a scene of childbirth.
