When Was the Last Time You Had a Film Roll Developed?

While walking home from work the other night, I noticed an unexpected sign in the window of my favorite Walgreens, reminding the customers that yes, they still develop rolls of film. I can't recall the last time I had a roll of film developed, but someone must be asking Walgreens staffers about it if they felt the need to put up a notice. Of course, maybe it has something to do with the fact that most of us have gone digital and customers are occasionally bringing in disks, but not rolls. When was the last time you had a roll of film developed?

Diana+ Dreamer Camera Puts a Hold on The Digital

Even though I look forward to the megapixel number for digital cameras and cell phone cameras increasing, don't think I'm not a wistful, sometimes very old-fashioned person. I miss the look of film sometimes - its richness and romance that digital, with its sharp edges and modern beauty, lacks. That's why I've been thinking about getting a film camera lately.

Urban Outfitters has a lot of vintagey cameras, but none of them have really tempted me until I saw the Diana+ Dreamer camera. An all-plastic reproduction from a '60s model, the Diana's simplicity ensures beautiful, dreamy images - think Virgin Suicides. Add to that the fact that its mint green color means it can be displayed without being an eyesore and that it comes with a Diana book filled with images and history, and you've got a sale, my friend.

Victory Is Ours: Polaroid Announces Relaunch of Camera, Film

I once asked you if you would jump on board if Polaroid were revived - an overwhelming amount of you said yes. Well hold on to your hats, photo geeks, cause it's on its way! At a press conference today in Hong Kong, Polaroid announced that they will be re-launching the One Step camera and allowing The Impossible Project (a group of former Polaroid employees who have been working to revive the medium and who also released the last of the instant film to Urban Outfitters earlier this year) to produce a limited amount of instant black and white and color film in 2010. No more tears on those Polaroid notepads my friends, you'll get the real thing soon enough.

In addition to the exciting launch, Polaroid is releasing a limited edition Celebration Kit ($450) on Friday, October 16 for the ultimate instant camera connoisseur. The kit includes an original SX-70 camera, two collectible film packs, and a few other commemorative items. So - are you as excited about this news as I am?

Slim Devil Camera For the Wide-Angle Lens/Film Lover in You

Slim is the hot new product descriptor, it seems. The Slim Devil Camera ($30) from Fred Flare is a lightweight 35 mm film camera for your camera collection.

Even though it's called "slim devil," it's got a "super fat" (i.e. wide-angle) lens. The cute little guy comes in black as well as "yellow peace" and "pink dress."

Depressed about the upcoming demise of Polaroid's instant cameras?

Then now would be the time to get up, buy a soon-to-be-vintage-geek camera and a crap-load of film, and quit whining about it! I'm planning on grabbing an old Polaroid, stockpiling some film, and snapping away before it's too late.

Though Amazon has newer models of Polaroids like this One600, I much prefer this old-school looker, pictured here (plus it's about a $200 difference).

Summer is the perfect time to lug this Polaroid everywhere and take some cute pics, and get in your nostalgia time before it's too late. If anything, it'll be a great relic to show your kids in the future, so don't wait - unless you love being gouged on eBay!

Do You Use A Digital or Film Camera?

When I came across this older (as in 2002) picture of Donatella Versace, Madonna, and Gwyneth Paltrow having some fun with Gwyneth's 35mm film camera, it brought me back to the days when I religiously carried my huge film cam to every party and function. Now with digital cameras we have the freedom to take all the shots we want, view them, and delete the ones we don't like on the spot. I'm curious to know how many of you still use 35mm film cameras (hey, I'm not giving mine away any time soon)! And how many of you have completely switched over to the digital. Better yet, you might use a really expensive manual camera packed full of amazing features and functions! Either or, let me know below! Image Source

I couldn't be happier to know that there will be another chance to pick up a Polaroid One Step and a packet of instant film next year. After Polaroid announced that the instant film camera would be put out to pasture back in 2008, there was an uprising of epic proportions - fans did not want to let go of the beloved medium. In a digital world, there's something comforting about capturing the moment with such a low tech and vintage device. Melrose Place Residents Show Off Their Tech Poolside

Top 6 Tech Moments From the Melrose Place Premiere

The series premiere of Melrose Place delivered an abounding dose of drama and some flashy tech toys and references. I was thrilled to see the show upgrade from the giant car phones of the original series (naturally - it's been a while), and make some legitimately geeky references. Could this be the new trendy tech show of the season?

Textual tension: The premiere opened with David's phone ringing during a hot and heavy makeout scene. "Don't even think about it!" whispers the gal. "Oh course not, baby!" And then he looks down his iPhone and sees the message "In serious trouble. Come now!" Doesn't David know it is rude to text while on a date?
Geeky proposal: Jonah pretends to forget his fifth anniversary with Riley, casually pours himself a bowl of cereal and sits down at the TV. When he turns the flat screen on, it plays a video montage of cute couple moments, which ends in Jonah kneeling at Riley's side to propose to her. Of course, true to Melrose drama, they quickly hear a scream outside....
Twitter chatter: After he is questioned by police, David sneaks up on Ella at the police department, who admits she gave an alibi to cover his story. "5:30 in the morning?," asks David. "Everyone is going to think we hooked up!" Ella quips back, "So it gives them something to tweet about!"
Gadget love: Mr. Swarley recognizes Jonah's camera is a $10,000 EX3, which makes Jonah geek out. "Yeah! This thing is sick! You can choose 60 frames per second...swap this out for the film lenses...it's my dream camera! I love it!"
Geek dreamboat: Riley considers whether she should say "yes" to Jonah: "I love him more than anything...the guy has a box of Legos in the closet he still plays with...he watches Saturday morning cartoons before going off to play laser tag." If that's not a geeky guy, I don't know what is!
The camera doesn't lie: Jonah mistakenly catches Mr. Swarley locking lips with a much younger girl on his fancy camera, which makes Swarley spaz out. Jonah's reassurance? He says as soon as he is done editing the recording will be deleted and sent into the "digital ether." Oh, if only such a place existed. The camera never lies and files never die.
