I love a good set of online tools on a website, especially when it's coupled with another one of my favorite things: shopping. I'm especially loving the instant gratification of the design-your-own sneakers tools from some favorite brand-name shoe companies: Nike, Puma, Converse, and Keds all offer a customization option for a few of their classic sneaker designs.

Though the tools vary by site, essentially you can click on different sections of the shoe: interior, left side, right side, details, laces - and choose a color or print for each section. You can view your shoe from different angles, too - side view, top view, back view, and more. The tools are incredibly easy to use and a lot of fun. I may not be able to commit to just one pair! If you can stop playing with the design tools and finally commit to your perfect pair, know that they'll take a little longer to arrive - each pair is custom-made to order.

Glitzy Super Mario Bros. Fashion Collection

Any articles of Super Mario Bros. apparel I've seen before usually consist of hand-knitted creations like the 1Up Mushroom or the beautiful Princess Peach scarves. Well feast your eyes on this glamorous Super Mario Bros. eveningwear line from Craftster member montyfull. From an actual sequined Mario dress to a bob-omb and mushroom dress, she covered all of the basics and then some.

Why the gamer-themed dresses? She says:

"So I'm a fashion major. Graduated in 2007, and just got around to uploading pics of my stuff! I'm an avid gamer for life. Shooters, RPGs, PC, Nintendo, Xbox . . . I'll play anything if I can afford it. I also don't like to take myself too seriously, so I decided that my senior collection was going to be Mario eveningwear."

First Headphones, Now Earbuds: Is This the New Jewelry?

OK, I'm all for making geek chic, but this is kind of pushing it. First, So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson sported her pink headphones on camera, and now, on Comedy Central's new show Michael and Michael Have Issues, boss Biederman wears his earbuds around his neck.

The big difference between the SYTYCD and Michael is that it's possible that Gibson was listening to her cans before the taping and just left them on, but the earbuds are part of Michael's Josh Pais's character - he always wears the Apple earbuds around his neck, with no iPod in sight.

I wear my earbuds like this when I'm going somewhere after listening to my iPod and plan to listen to it again when I leave, but it's funny that the character rocks the earbuds continually.

Remember how we all oohed and aahed over Clueless? We thought it was so high tech, having your wardrobe on your computer. Well I'm glad to say we one-upped Cher Horowitz because now you can have all that - on your iPhone.

Touch Closet is a free app that lets you add clothing items from your wardrobe, organizing and creating a kind of inventory (so you can tell from a glance if you need to stop buying gray cardigans).

From there, you can put together outfits and record when you wore them, so you can check back and see what you're wearing often and avoid repeats, if that's a concern of yours.

I'm gonna have to tell Fab to get an iPhone . . .

This Tweed Helmet by Atelier Ruby for Karl Lagerfeld showed up in Style.com's Fall Accessory report - and I'm not saying I wouldn't rock it (the price tag will surely be out of this world) - but I may need the perfect little motorbike first.

French Kiss: Colette Does Lomography For the Dianalogues

French design house Colette is getting in on the Lomography trend with a special edition camera adorned with blue dots, as well as a dreamy book based on the inherent romance of the Diana Dreamer titled the Dianalogues: Through a Woman's Lens.

This all makes perfect sense to me: Colette, Paris, the Diana: the romance of it all dovetails perfectly together.

Project Runway Alum's New Book: Fashion Geek

Wonder what happened to your favorite former Project Runway contestants?

Here's one who's published a book that'll look perfect on my shelf. Second season contender Diana Eng's new book is titled Fashion Geek: Clothes Accessory Tech, and it's full of how-to projects that combine tech and fashion, like a hat that integrates headphones. The official release date is next month, but is available for pre-order on Amazon.

And this isn't Eng's first foray into tech/fashion; she won the Yahoo Hack Day contest with her project, "Blogging in Motion" in 2006.

Have You Ever Made a Fashion-Based Gadget Decision?

When I upgraded my first generation iPhone to a 3G last year, it was a no-brainer; I wanted the extended battery life and GPS capabilities. But I was also totally delighted that I got to make another very important decision: black or white?!

As style-conscious as I am, I generally end up making practical decisions when it comes to tech, because in the end, I always want the best quality. That said, I'm pleased the most with my gadgets when they end up being stylish as well as functional, like with the smooth, graceful base of my flat screen TV, the way my Apple TV, Wii and PS3 consoles don't have to hide inside my TV cabinet, or how nice and sleek my MacBook Pro looks sitting on my smooth wood coffee table.

But I wouldn't have picked any of these based on style alone. Like I said, they have to offer me the best performance, but among the best performers, if I can narrow them down by style, I certainly will.

How about you? Ever picked a cell phone because it came in a color you liked, or a TV because of how it would look with your decor?
