I know that this long list looks scary, but trust me, once you get the hang of it, it'll be a snap the second time around.

First of all, join the Website of the Day group
Click "Create and Share!" on the left hand side
Choose "Blog"
Give your photo a Title
Leave the category as "general"
Change the channel to "technology and gadgets"
Add keyword(s) (for example mine for this photo was "Website of the Day")
Click on the "Add Image" link below the "body" box
A popup window will happen - click on "Browse" to find your image on your computer
Once you have the image chosen, click "Submit"
The popup will show you your image, choose size: "normal" - if you want, you can give it a title (which will show up as a caption)
Click "Insert" and the popup will go away
Your "body" box will now have some text in it. Leave it as is. If you want to add some text before the picture telling me why you love the website, do it before the code that has appeared.
Click Submit

Geek Tip: Use a Shared Google Calendar to Plan Family Events

Every time I visit home, I have to call my parents and each sister separately to figure out a weekend when everyone is home. And planned vacations together? That's a minimum of eight calls just to figure out everyone's availability.

But not anymore - I have invited my family to a shared Google Calendar. Under "My Calendars" just click Create. I called mine the ultra-scintillating "Family Calendar" and added my family members' email addresses so they can add and edit events.

So far, things are going swimmingly and the fam is taking my lead - I've put my next flight itinerary in the details part of the calendar and I'm just waiting for someone to volunteer to pick me up from the airport. Anyone? Bueller?

Sony Debuts movieIQ on Blu-ray Discs and the VAIO NW

Yesterday I attended a Sony media event here in San Francisco where three major announcements were made. The first - which caught my attention - is the 400-disc Blu-ray player Sony plans on unveiling in the near future - that's right, 400 discs . . . who has that many discs anyway?! We also learned about the new (only $880) Sony VAIO NW notebook, which comes fully equipped with Blu-ray disc technology, so you can watch crisp and clear movies from the convenience of your laptop. The laptop is the lightest of its kind, offers a 15.5-inch widescreen display, an HDMI output connector, and it features Sony's XBRITE-ECO LCD technology. This laptop will be available this month in brown, white, and silver.

And last, but not least, was the movieIQ announcement. MovieIQ is a handy feature, powered by Gracenote that gives you real-time info about the movie you're viewing. So for things like insider info, trivia, music or actor details, scene location and more, any movieIQ-enabled Blu-ray Disc will provide these interesting tidbits for you, right while you're watching the movie. And because it's connected to the Internet, the information is constantly updated and accurate (so you don't have to do a Google search to make sure it's legit). MovieIQ will start appearing on major movie titles like Angels & Demons (yay!), Punch Drunk Love, and Easy Rider this September.

Geek Tip: Dial Down Display Brightness For More Juice

Since I like to plan ahead, I knew that I needed to fully juice my laptop battery the night before WWDC in order to be maxed out for the two-hour live-blogging event the next day. But unfortunately, unlike the new Macbooks that were announced at the Apple keynote, mine does not last for seven hours. I'm lucky to get two and a half! But I'll cut this bad boy a break, cause it works really, really hard. So to preserve power, I shut off all unnecessary programs, and turned down the brightness on my screen to squeeze out every bit of power I could (there were no outlets in the audience). This not only helped get me a few extra minutes blogging time, but it helped to keep the annoyance factor down a notch for the other geeks in the crowd. I mean, keeping your laptop at full brightness during a keynote would be like checking your iPhone for messages during a movie. Bad form, indeed.

If you want to plan something - say a get-together, outing, event, restaurant date, whatever - Center'd is a new site that offers plenty of planning tools to make an event come together. This site, which I spotted on Mashable, provides info from users on what restaurants, attractions, events, and shopping places are worth visiting (they currently offer listings for 12 major cities across the US). You can also pick from categories like outdoors, kid friendly, recession busters, and romantic to narrow your search even more. Once you decide what you want to do, you can easily invite friends and decide, as a group, when the event should take place.

How-To: Create Slideshows and Movies For Your Reception

If you haven't noticed, it's wedding season here on the Sugar Network and I've been busy telling you how to keep up with your own wedding website, pick out the perfect photographer, and manage all those photos - yours and your guests - after the big day. This week, we're moving into the wedding planning stages, and today I'm talking about slideshows. But this isn't the after-the-event, it-was-such-a-beautiful-day slideshow, this is the slideshow you play during your reception, usually packed with photos of you and your betrothed throughout your relationship together.

Although I've already given you some tips on what you should consider when putting together your slideshows, you may not know where to begin once you have all your photos chosen. If you don't have a Mac (I know I've talked your ear off about the simple joy of iPhoto), you can still make professional-looking slideshows and videos with your PC. Who woulda thought, right?

Find out what software you should consider, and what to do with those stacks of (nondigital) photos when you read more.

If not all of your photos are digital, it's OK - you can scan your photos, get them onto a CD and ready for uploading just by toting them down to your local Walgreens (or similar drug store that offers photo developing). And you're on your way to getting all your treasured pics into a slideshow.

Once you have all your photos uploaded to your computer, all you have to do is choose your software to start putting it all together. With any of these programs, you can arrange your pics, choose your (optional) background music that will play during your slideshow, and will even let you add in video clips if you want to switch things up. My first love is iPhoto, mostly for its ease of use and ability to export to not only a DVD but to your website, mobile phone, and iTunes to enjoy later.

But for you PC users out there, software like DVD Picture Show, My Memories Suite, and MediaShow 4 will get you the same great results, accommodates photos and video clips, and will export online or to a CD/DVD.

Would You Get Married on MySpace - For Free?

Maybe you've thought about how great it would be to have the world at your nuptials, a la Trista and Ryan, or maybe you've seen how outrageously expensive it is to plan a big wedding these days. Well, what if someone paid for your whole wedding? Of course there's a catch. It would be broadcast on MySpace.

Yep, MySpace has teamed up with The Knot to bring you "Married on MySpace" - an online reality show slash contest that first pits eager, engaged couples against each other, and once chosen, the fun really begins - the MySpace audience picks every single detail, from the gown to the registry (the other catch).

Is this just the beginning of your social network planning your life events (what's next, Facebook plans a funeral?)? All kidding aside, I know a great many people who would gladly trade privacy and choice for the chance to have a blowout wedding - but I don't think I'm one of them. Are you?
