Yesterday I attended a Sony media event here in San Francisco where three major announcements were made. The first — which caught my attention — is the 400-disc Blu-ray player Sony plans on unveiling in the near future — that's right, 400 discs . .

Since I like to plan ahead, I knew that I needed to fully juice my laptop battery the night before WWDC in order to be maxed out for the two-hour live-blogging event the next day. But unfortunately, unlike the new Macbooks that were announced at the Apple keynote, mine does not last for seven hours. I'm lucky to get two and a half!

If you want to plan something — say a get-together, outing, event, restaurant date, whatever — Center'd is a new site that offers plenty of planning tools to make an event come together. This site, which I spotted on Mashable, provides info from users on what restaurants, attractions, events, and shopping places are worth visiting (they currently offer listings for 12 major cities across the US). You can also pick from categories like outdoors, kid friendly, recession busters, and romantic to narrow your search even more.

Bridal showers and bachelorette parties are low-stress trials for the big day. They help build anticipation for the main event and allow brides-to-be the opportunity to be showered (pun intended!) with love, laughter and encouragement from her closest friends. There are plenty of online services that will help the hostess prepare for the party — from invitation websites to games — but it's crucial to come up with a plan for capturing special moments on the day of mindless fun.

If you haven't noticed, it's wedding season here on the Sugar Network and I've been busy telling you how to keep up with your own wedding website, pick out the perfect photographer, and manage all those photos — yours and your guests — after the big day. This week, we're moving into the wedding planning stages, and today I'm talking about slideshows. But this isn't the after-the-event, it-was-such-a-beautiful-day slideshow, this is the slideshow you play during your reception, usually packed with photos of you and your betrothed throughout your relationship together.
