You know the drill: you get a Facebook reminder that it's your friend's birthday, so you end up writing her an email, or you post a brief note to her Facebook wall. Rather than follow everyone else's lead by posting an impersonal b-day message on Facebook, why not create a collective album of online letters that you and your friends can send to the birthday girl on her special day? A cool new site called From a Birdie, which I found on makeuseof, is similar to the site GroupCard because it allows an entire group of people to collaborate on a personalized card or letter.

You know I'm a fan of digital postcard services, so I did a little (discreet) dance when I found Postcard Express ($4) for my iPhone.
You can take a picture at whatever fabulously exotic location you're at, and then you add your message and the email address of the recipient. It'll even geo-tag your photo/postcard for you.

Does anyone else dread having a card passed around at work for a colleague's birthday, congratulations, or his or her last day? Even if it's someone you genuinely like, having to sum up your sincere thoughts in a one-inch space of cardstock among your other coworkers' sentiments is just awkward. It's like the grown-up version of that yearbook peach "Have a great Summer!"

For cute, no-fuss ecards, you may want to head on over to flyGreetings — because where else can you find cards that say things like "Let's Get a Mani" or "You're Preggers, Congrats!"?!
With a tagline of "free does not have to be cheap or cheesy," flyGreetings cards are classy, so you don't have to worry about weird flash animation or corny songs playing when your friend sees the card. Totally geek chic in my opinion.

The thrill of receiving a postcard in the mail never gets old, but being able to fix one up all nice and snazzy for a friend or family member is even more thrilling (I love imagining the looks on their faces once it gets to them). Thankfully because we live in this digital era, postcards have come a long way. Did you know that you can take a photo on your iPhone and an app will whip it into a postcard for you?

I can't stop LMAO at this amazing website! When I saw That's Not Cool on Trendhunter, I instantly fell in love. Their entire collection of Callout Cards fall into categories like Textual Harassment, Constant Messaging, and Cell Phone Trouble, so you can find the ultimate geeky card and send it to a certain someone — 'cause I know you already have someone in mind.

I've sung the praises of the stylish online invitations site Pingg before, but sometimes these awesome sites can get lost in the mix! I'm here to jog your memory for two reasons: The 81st annual Academy Awards are this Sunday, and if you are planning on having a get together for this event, Pingg is at your service with some great ecard templates.
If you're a new user, just sign-up for a free account and then click on the Academy Awards option under the Events and Holiday tab.

Run-of-the-mill e-cards not doing it for you? How about sending a free Valentine's Day greeting from Liz Lemon and the rest of the 30 Rock gang?
NBC's website has a host of free, hilarious V-Day cards featuring the cast of 30 Rock in classic scenes, with a Lemon-level witty caption.
