What Do You Think About Shared E-Mail Accounts?

Last week my mother forwarded me a message from a woman who is a friend of our family and I realized she has a joint e-mail account with her husband. That is to say, her e-mail was her name, plus her husband's name, plus their last name. The address made me question their autonomy and wonder why two smart, independent people would create a joint e-mail account.

While I honestly don't have anything to hide, I can't ever imagine sharing an e-mail address with my husband. I mean, can't our friends just CC us? I tried to consider the fact that people send snail mail to couples all the time, but the fact that you have to sign in to get e-mail makes it seem more personal. What do you think, are shared e-mail accounts cute or strange?

Have You Received a Text That Wasn't Meant For You?

An Australian cricket champion's life just got a lot more complicated after he accidently sent a message intended for his mistress to his wife.

Apparently, the message read: "Hey beautiful, I'm just talking to my kids, the back door's open." When his wife received the text she sent him the message: "You loser, you sent the message to the wrong person."

While I've never gotten myself into such an incriminating (and sad!) predicament, I have gotten quite a few unsolicited texts from a booty grazer - a booty grazer is someone who sends one text message to the masses in hopes of hooking up with any of the responders for a, how shall I say it, booty call. Have you ever received a naughty or nice text message that wasn't meant for you?

After seeing this cute Digital Santa Clause Keychain on OhGizmo!, I knew I could find a purpose for it-even if it meant giving it to one of my sisters as a Christmas present. With a 1.1-inch LCD display, 8MB of internal memory, these keychains are almost as big as the colorful digital photo ornaments. Each keychain costs around $15 each. Do you love them or are you going to leave them?

Love It Or Leave It: TimeCap Digital Urn

Designed by Cherif Morsi, the TimeCap hopes to become a burial ritual for the 21st century. The idea is that instead of putting someone’s ashes in an urn, the small USB device holds photos, sound bytes, videos, and any other type of digital media, so you can memorialize your loved ones with happy memories. You can wear around your neck and plug it in whenever you need a moment of reflection or reconnection with the deceased person. I like the sentiment but can't imagine this really taking off. What do you think, do you like the idea?

Rolleiflex Mini Digital Camera: Love It or Leave It?

The Rolleiflex Mini Digital Camera is about as vintage geek-meets-modern functionality as you can get. It's a 5-megapixel camera, but it looks its 1920s era German namesake.

I'm thoroughly charmed by the Rolleiflex, especially the up-facing display that lets you shoot without the camera and the hand-lever crank, and how cute it looks around your neck.

But $400 for a 5-MP camera? Is it a justified price for novelty?

Digital Graphic Sheet Set: Love It or Leave It?

I live, eat, and sleep tech, but I don't necessarily mean that literally. If I did, I think I would need these Digital Graphic Sheets ($50-100), which PBTeen calls "tech-inspired."

My dreams are geeky enough, but falling asleep on a bed of pixels? Don't know if I'd be into that. Then again, bedsheets for geeks are nothing to snooze at (heh)! What do you think of them?

Sgt. Pepper Headed to the Rock Band Music Store Tomorrow

September was a big month for The Beatles in the gaming world when The Beatles Rock Band hit the market. I went crazy over it during a sneak peek at E3, and was not disappointed when I got my own copy. Although The Beatles have not always been so chummy with tech, times are a-changing as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band makes its way to The Beatles: Rock Band music store tomorrow for your Xbox 360 and Wii systems, and will be available on your PS3 on Nov. 19!

Although I'd love to, I can't really throw down for their special edition digital collection, so I'm stoked at least to get to play along on one of my favorite games. To see how much each track from the album will set you back, just read more.

Individual singles from the record like "When I'm Sixty-Four" and "Lovely Rita" can be purchased for $1.99 each (or 160 Microsoft Points on your Xbox), while the entire album can be downloaded for $13.50 (1080 Microsoft Points). Wii owners can rock out with The Beatles tomorrow as well, but you'll be paying $2 a pop or 200 Wii Points for the tracks.

Tech Dating 101: Do You Save Messages From Your Date?

One of the benefits of of digital technology is that every email, text, and voicemail is easily saved, stored, and relived. It's helpful when you're dating someone - I think it's both fun and cute to reread old messages. (Though I suppose this can get dicey when trying to cut your ex out of your digital life, but that's a topic for another day). When it's good - it's great!

I hadn't thought too much about it until a recently engaged friend unearthed a years-long log of emails and text messages, starting with the first email her now-fiance sent the morning after they met. My other friends and I teased her at first, but then realized that reading through her saved emails was almost like reading a book of the history of their relationship. Plus, it's fun to look back one month, six months, or even a year into the past to see what was going on, even if they're mundane messages about what movie to catch or what to make for dinner that night.

Besides its historical significance, saving messages from someone you're dating is also helpful when you're starting a new relationship. Who hasn't sat with their girlfriends and gadgets and analyzed a string of text messages from a new guy or potential date? (See also my advice on decoding postdate texts and instant messages).

I've started doing it, and I must admit, looking back on emails or text messages from a few months before is both nostalgic and sweet.

Super Secret Spy Lens: Love It or Leave It?

Trying to get someone to "act natural" in front of a camera is like trying to perfect my costume for a Halloween party: I try, but am never 100 percent believable. With most folks, there's always a bit of apprehension that keeps you from getting that perfect photojournalistic (read: candid) shot, but this little gadget may help you out in that department.

The Super Secret Spy Lens ($50) has a discreet side cutout, fashioned with a precise inner mirror so it looks like you're aiming straight ahead, but are really capturing images on the sly. Now, this can be a great tool if you aren't a pro at putting your subjects at ease, but since that's part of the job of a photographer, wouldn't you want the practice? Also, I might feel a bit like a peeping Tom, but maybe that's just me.

Cath Kidston Floral Digital Radio: Love It or Leave It?

I am unapologetically behind the declaration that I consider myself a girly-girl. I don't always love pink gadgets, but I don't always hate them either. But I have a line. This Cath Kidston DAB digital Roberts radio is currently walking my line.

I just don't know if precious-looking roses mix with my digital electronics, but, on the other hand, the radio in a plain color would have a vintage look - which, of course, the rose print owns. But. Still totally conflicted. What do you say?
