The Triops 360 Digital Camera

Chosen as a finalist for the BraunPrize 2007, the Triops is quite the user-friendly robust digital camera. Created by German designer Franziska Faoro, the Triops includes three fisheye lenses to capture a variety of images from various angles. Wondering what you can do with a triple-threat lens cam? Throw it in the air for sequentially taken 360 degree panorama snapshots. It can also respond to sound or movement and pictures can be wirelessly transmitted to a separate display unit. Nikon's Coolpix Cam Now Comes With Wi-Fi

Okay, before you get all jazzed about Nikon's latest Coolpix S51c with Wi-Fi, let me forewarn you that the Wi-Fi seems to only work with Nikon's new 'My Picturetown' application - still, imagine how cool it would be if you could send pics via Wi-Fi elsewhere? This hot pink cam, which was featured on Engadget, comes with 8.1 megapixels, a 3-inch LCD and an optical lens shift vibration reduction. Price is approximately $407, or $51 less if you don't get the Wi-Fi feature.

Shakira Represents For Panasonic Products

Shakira's work with Panasonic is destined to catch plenty of customers' eyes - what with her hips not lying and all. The Latin popstar has just extended her spokesperson partnership until March 2008 to include ads for Lumix digital cameras and the Viera plasma television in print and point-of-sale poster advertisements. According to a Panasonic Press Release Shakira's first appearance will be in ads for new models of LUMIX digital still cameras, which include Panasonic's own MEGA O.I.S (optical image stabilizer) to correct handshakes. The stunning commercials, which were filmed in the Bahamas, can be seen on the Latin American Panasonic website or by scrolling down.

I can think of no logical reason why anyone would truly need the Samsung SS700 concept designed by Jin Woo Han, but I must give the designer credit for combining the joy of a digital camera's screen with clever image display. The device allows you to both take pictures and showcase them in a camera-frame combo. There aren’t any buttons or menu settings, you just shoot and then display your photos by opening up the camera's built-in kick stand.

Celebrity Gadget: Scarlett Johansson's Leica M8 Camera

When Molly noticed Scarlett Johansson has been working both in front and behind the camera for an untitled Woody Allen movie in Barcelona, I wondered what kind of camera the starlet has been using.

My investigation team - made up of camera geek YumSugar and myself - concluded that it must be the uber chic Leica M8.

The model, which is a digital version of the company's famous M camera, was recently released in Europe and is sold in silver and black. It is known for using the analog Leica M system for sophisticated and creative digital photography and features a low-noise CCD image sensor with a resolution of 10.3 megapixels that has been specifically matched to the compact lens design.

Clearly, professional cameras come with a hefty price tag. This one costs $4,795 on Amazon.

Blue Jazz Water Resistant Camera

With summer upon us, many of you will be heading to the beach or hanging out poolside. With this being the case, you might need some water friendly gadgets. I've already showed you the Pentax waterproof camera, which takes phenomenal pictures underwater, but if you want something that isn't as expensive as this one, check out the Jazz water-resistant camera with flash.
This camera only costs $43 and can be taken up to 9ft underwater. It functions as a digital still, digital video, and PC camera with LCD display and has 640 x 480 image resolution, which is beyond fantabulous for the reasonable price. You can even set up the self-timer to get everyone in the shot - although I'm wondering where you could set it up underwater to do this!

Cool Concept: Nikon 360 Degrees Digital Camera

Yesterday a bunch of you admitted you love playing around with fun and funky cameras like the colored Lomolitos cameras and the hilarious fisheye lens camera, so when I saw the concept for the Nikon 360 Degrees Digital Camera I knew I wouldn't be the only excited photographer around here. The idea is the camera can take an "unbroken view of an entire surrounding area," (ie panoramic shots).

With most cameras, getting a real panoramic shot means turning 360 degrees, to receive an unbroken view. Based on an ergonomic cylindrical form lens, the Nikon 360 allows you take an all-round picture. It has an angle indicator that provides a gauge on the direction of the rotating head and is also an additional detail to provide the camera with a stronger and steadier feel while in operation. What do you think of the idea?

Get Wet And Wild With The Pentax Waterproof Cam

Whenever I experiment with underwater cameras I alway seem to mess up the pictures. While I've really only used inexpensive disposable ones, the pictures always turn out blurry, dark and unrecognizable. Maybe it's my photography skills or the fact that I use disposable cameras...whatever the reason, I still have yet to master this skill. So when I saw this Pentax waterproof digital camera, it got me thinking that a) It's time I jet off somewhere exotic where I can take underwater pictures and b) I need to buy a decent waterproof camera. The waterproof Pentax is not only for underwater adventures (up to 10 feet deep), but it can also be used in the rain or snow. With 7.1 megapixels, 22 MB of built-in memory and an anti-reflective screen with bright mode for direct sunlight, this camera is definitely a high class cam. Priced at $300.

Yesterday I posted the ever-so-cool Samsung Rotating Digital Camera with its unique 180 degree screen. Today I wanted to share this very chic point-and-shoot camera design with another unique screen. When folded, the FlapCam protects the lens and LCD screen from dirt and scratches, but when opened you can check out all your beautiful pics. Because of its protective-folded design, the FlapCam doesn't require a case. Still in its early concept/design phase, the FlapCam will hopefully be picked up by a camera company soon.
