UBoard Desk Shelf: Love It or Leave It?

I just spotted this shelf over on CrunchGear, and I must admit, I love it. The UBoard USB board and shelf ($50) features a glass top and three USB ports on its side. There's even a cup holder that attaches to the side!

I don't know that I'd use the cup holder, but I like the idea of a clear shelf that goes over my keyboard, and the USB ports are pretty convenient. What do you think?

OK, so I know aesthetics aren't everything, but even though I bought myself a nice-looking external hard drive to back up all my data, sometimes I just want to find a safe place to keep it out of the way and off my clean desk. Geek Tip: Make Your Workstation a Little More Ergonomic

It doesn't take much to make your home workstation a little more body friendly. So before you head back to school this Fall, add a few ergonomic touches to your home office. I have professed my love for the Ikea Dave Laptop stand many times before, so if you must work in front of the tube (like yours truly), put it on a stand and not on your lap! Add a desk lamp to save your eyes, and either an amazing chair or a fitness ball (or both!) to save your back and shoulders. Also, make sure you have a pretty keyboard wrist rest to prevent typing fatigue.

Speak-er Speech Bubble Speakers Are Totally Hot

Can you hear me now? It's rare that I come across something that has me tossing all reasoning out the window, and immediately reaching for my credit card. When I first saw this pair of six-watt Speak-er speech bubble speakers ($120), I knew I had to have them. Unfortunately for us, they are going to be sold in limited quantities and won't be sent out until April! I want them now!

I guess I'm just hoping that maybe, just maybe, out of all the geeks in the world that will have these on their wish lists, that I can get my hands on a set of these babies. A girl can dream, no?

Relief From Old Building Syndrome: USB Gloves

If your office building is old (like mine), and you are nowhere near those old-school radiator heaters that line the walls (like me), and the windows are not exactly "double-paned" to keep the heat in (you know it), there's a good chance you will be f-f-f-freezing come Winter. USB Desk Lamp: Love It or Leave It?

These days I tend to just look for a desk lamp that can do what it's supposed to do: light up. Even when it has a nice second feature, like this lamp/iPod dock, I just want a utilitarian lamp.

But I could totally ignore all that for this USB Desk Lamp by Japanese Design firm Conof, which provides light and spare USB ports? Plus, I just love that cool C-shape - and the lamp head also rotates 270 degrees. Doesn't look like pricing is available yet, but I'm wishing and hoping for a green one.

But what do you think? Is it modern cool or just modern cold?
