And with so much new technology out there, the art of dating has become more complicated than ever - we can all feel Drew Barrymore's pain in He's Just Not That Into You when she laments about having to keep up with several different technologies just to get rejected.

The upside of this digital age of dating is that there are plenty of places for you to vent your terrible date tales or proclaim your love for the whole wide web to enjoy. Or, if you are taken, there's a bundle of sites that allow you to live vicariously through single folks. Website of the Day: My Very Worst Date

Who doesn't love reading dating war stories from the trenches? I'm still cracking up over My Very Worst Date, a collection of reader-submitted dating horror stories. From horribly awkward moments to convicted felons, reading through all of the stories will either make you laugh with relief or cringe with empathy. And unlike many similar sites, My Very Worst Date has a number of submissions from both sexes, not just women.

Since it was late, the officer later drove me around to find a hotel and I took the train home the next day. On Monday my ex-date/co-worker wisely avoided me. I didn’t bother to inquire as to the nature of his arrest.

Website of the Day: Escape My Date

This is brilliant! For all of those times you get stuck in a painfully boring situation, a bad date, or end up at a really annoying dinner party, you can use a cool new site called Escape My Date to help you get out of a sticky (or lame) situation. Discovered on makeuseof, Escape My Date is great because it uses Twitter to reach out to one of your friends and rescue you from your bad date.

All you have to do is sign up with your Twitter info, create a profile, and select the friends that you would want to phone you during a situation you want to escape from. Say you find yourself on a bad date, you just direct message @EscapeMyDate and they will send the message to your chosen friends. If your friends don't call you within five minutes, Escape My Date will make an automated call to you - so no matter what, you'll have an out!

And if you know beforehand that the date may be on the boring side, you can always schedule a call to yourself using Wakerupper!

Hot Anime Men Alert: Virtual Boyfriends All the Rage in Japan

Well, it started with chat rooms, then online dating, then destigmatized online dating, then further legitimized Facebook hookups so can we really be surprised that Japanese girls are all over the latest web love trend: The Virtual Boyfriend?

The just-launched Webkare is a social networking site in Japan - aimed solely at young women - that encourages its members to flirt with and capture the hearts of the virtual boyfriends available. Five days after it was announced, over 10,000 users joined up to try their hand at virtual dating.

I think it's great. You get to practice your smooth moves and then, with a virtual BF, you tell them what to do, they don't complain, and they do exactly what you want. Sounds pretty awesome.

Would You Date Steve Wozniak?

Kathy Griffin was on the Today Show yesterday to promote the A-List Awards, but what was more interesting was when Kathy talked about her relationship with her very tech-famous ex-boyfriend, Steve Wozniak (he rides a Segway! LOL!).

They're no longer dating, and Kathy mentioned that he'd since met someone and became engaged. How does he get the ladies?

Now, Wozniak is undoubtedly a genius computer engineer who co-founded Apple, and let's not lie, the billionaire title is not exactly a turn-off. . . but! The Woz?!

He's a billionaire, he's an Apple father, and he must be hiding some serious charm under that, um, teddy-bear exterior. Tell me - would you date him?

Do You Make Joint Gadget Purchases?

The pain of a breakup is already a lot to take, and when you add the separation of home technology, well, it's just the image of a broken home that breaks my heart. Though there wasn't too much to lament in the big breakup of Heidi and Spencer, in the latest episodes of The Hills, there's a reference to the separation of their gadgets. Who can forget that sad, surgically-enhanced pout Heidi made when she and Spencer fought over who bought the 42-inch TV and who bought the 50?

Well, here's to hoping your co-habitating home is happier than the Montag-Pratt condo - and this makes me wonder, do you, as a couple, go in on tech purchases together? My boyfriend and I are talking about buying a new flat screen together, and I gotta tell you, it feels like a pretty big step! Have you taken the plunge?

Facebook to Turn Into a Dating Site?

On Thursday, Facebook will be announcing the launch of Little Black Book, a new way for Facebook users to connect with Match.com daters.

According to The New York Times, once people are signed up to this new service, the users of Little Black Book will receive potential matches from Facebook users and non-Facebook users who are signed up with Match.com-try saying that ten times!

Considering the fact that I'm still peeved about Beacon, I'm going to keep my distance from Facebook for awhile. Although it's not too shabby of an idea. . .Stay connected with friends while meeting prospective mates online-badabingbadaboom!

More Single Parents Finding Love Online

When DearSugar asked readers if they would date online, 51 percent said "Yes, why not? I don't want to exclude the possibility of meeting someone online." According to the New York Times, an increased amount of single parents are using online dating as a means to meet new people. Surveys conducted by Mediamark Research show that approximately 397,000 people who are the single parent of a child in their household have used online dating within 30 days. Since most single parents are usually busy juggling work and family duties, it is said that online dating proves to be a beneficial and convenient way to meet potential partners. And who knows, maybe after a successful online meet-n-greet, the happy couple can have an online wedding as well! Source
