I love that Halloween is just around the corner, why? Because I get to brush up on my DIY skills and see what kind of geeky-fabulous costume I can create! In case you missed it, Comic-Con 2008 took over San Diego this past weekend, and Buzz was there getting the dish on all our favorite TV shows and movies that are about to hit the big and small screens. What am I looking forward to the most? Watchmen! Duh. If you weren't able to be at the San Diego Convention Center with all the rest of the geeks out there, I have a little slideshow to hold you over until next year. Seriously, get your tickets now. WonderCon 2008: The Costumes

Comic-Con is no doubt the ultimate nerd fest, and if it had a kid sister, it would definitely be WonderCon. Taking place over the weekend here in rainy San Francisco, I was lucky enough to hang out and get an up close look at some amazing costumes, comics, and the inside scoops on some of my fave Sci-Fi shows and movies - including some deets on the new X-Files movie! High Tech iPhone Trick-or-Treaters

With 2007 being the year of the life-altering revolutionary iPhone (cough, cough), it was a no-brainer that there would be a few good iPhone costumes on the loose this Halloween. I expected to see phones made from cardboard, but definitely nothing as advanced as this. The two guys in the vid below are the real iPhone deal, sporting fully-wired gigantic iPhones. Who, what and how they got their screens to look the way they do baffles me...Check it out!

Halloween How-To: Carmen Sandiego

Where in the world is your costume? Right here, thanks to geeksugar and my love of vintage video games. If you're in need of a classic (and classy) video game heroine (for my costume contest, perhaps), look no further than the wily traveling temptress herself, Carmen Sandiego.

When I was a kid, I was obsessed with the game for its international intrigue and because I wanted to be Carmen. She was a woman of mystery, and she looked fabulous doing it.

Check out my picks for how to put together a last-minute Carmen Sandiego costume. The main elements are the red fedora and trench (which could be re-worn, actually, as the weather gets crisper); to finish off the image, make sure you constantly tip your fedora, avoid eye contact, and put some red lipstick on your Mona Lisa smirk.

Plumber Costume: Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?

With Halloween coming up I decided to do some internet research to find fun, geeky costumes. The first noteworthy and geeky character I thought of was everyone's favorite video game character, Mario. I was soon treated to this Plumber Costume. Not only does it have classic Nintendo appeal, but it would be perfect for his and her costumes for any Mario and Princess Peach fans. It costs $29.99. Is it geeky, or geek chic?

Come on, I know you've got an old pink prom dress gathering dust in your closet somewhere!

Breathe new life into it (or hit up a thrift store in the next few days) and throw yourself a Princess Peach costume together.

No old pink gown? Go flirty with a hot pink minidress instead!

Then add some bright blue jewelry, gloves, and a tiara, and a constantly bewildered look on your face.

If the princess is too sweet, try the mysterious Carmen Sandiego, but I have a feeling you'd get just as much attention as Mario's number-one babe.
