Conan Reads Biz Stone's First Tweets (He Likes Soup, a Lot)

One of the biggest criticisms of Twitter from nonusers was also one of the earliest criticisms: that it's a service about nothing. Or, that no one cares what you're having for lunch. As part of its fifth birthday celebration, cofounder Biz Stone appeared on Conan last night, and Conan embarrassed him by reading a few of his first tweets, which seem to play into the criticism. They include both:

"Having some soup and catching up on the latest episode of house," and "Wow, Amtrak serves a vegan burger."

In response, Biz claimed he was "lowering the bar so other people don't feel intimidated to join Twitter. It's part of my work." Smart comeback!

Clearly, Conan O'Brien is a favorite at GeekSugar HQ, and with good reason! He's known for his love of tech, from spoofing the iPad 2 to his hilarious Angry Birds sketch. Plus, he loves Twitter, recently hosting a contest to write his Twitter bio.

When Twitter's Biz Stone headed to the show yesterday to celebrate Twitter's fifth birthday, he caught another sign of Conan's Twitter love, and (naturally) tweeted about it. A sign outside his dressing room encourages guests to tweet about their time on Conan, reminding them to be sure to mention @TeamCoco.

Write Conan O'Brien's New Twitter Bio, Win Fame and Glory

In honor of his one-year Twitter anniversary, Conan O'Brien is holding a contest to rewrite his Twitter bio. Currently, it reads: "I had a show. Then I had a different show. Now I have a Twitter account," but due to the success of his new show and how much things have changed in the past year, it's time for a new bio. The winner will receive (obviously) all of the fame and glory that comes from having a bio seen by Conan's millions of followers - but will also receive an original painting of the Conan Pale Whale painted by Twitter fail whale artist Yiying Lu.

Within minutes of tweeting the contest announcement with the hashtag #COBio, it was a trending topic across the US.

To submit a bio for consideration, follow @ConanOBrien on Twitter and tweet your suggestion with the #COBio hashtag attached before 3 p.m. EST tomorrow. Conan and his staff will then choose favorites and allow fans to vote on their favorite until the end of the month.

How much longer until the Conan premiere? Just a few days! This Monday, Nov. 8, my favorite late-night host returns to television after a required hiatus. While he's been off the airwaves he's been all over the Internet, and even though his new show is set to start, he plans to continue his online presence by broadcasting full episodes on the show's website the morning after they air.

No need to worry about Hulu, Netflix, or subscription fees at all . . . episodes will be completely free and available to all US viewers. So, he rides in a blimp, produces a hit TV show, and lets everyone on the Internet watch for free? Team Coco all the way!
