Do You Play Games on Your Cell Phone?

Love your PSP but resent carrying around an extra device? Sony might be resolving this little problem with its rumored development of a "PlayStation phone," a gaming/cell phone hybrid.

I've been all for all-in-one devices ever since I've known the bliss of having my iPod, cell phone, and mini media center combined on my iPhone. But the real question is, will people shell out for a new cell phone to have integrate a gaming system on it?

I play a lot of gaming apps to pass the time, and it seems like cell phone gaming is pretty low-key, albeit popular (take the president, who famously plays BrickBreaker on his BlackBerry). Do you play games on your cell phone?

Destiny's Child Gets Their Game On

Wow, who knew that celebrity video games would become the latest rage? Square-Enix just announced a new cell phone game called 'Destiny's Child Groove," that will apparently keep us jumpin', jumpin', jumpin' all day. Showcased on CrunchGear the game will feature photos of Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle and include songs like "Survivor," "Bug A Boo," and "Lose My Breath" and my personal favorite, "Say My Name." In "Destiny’s Child Groove," you'll be able to audition to become a backup singer for the group. To play the game you press arrows on the screen which are synchronized to the beat of certain songs. If this game is anything like Dance Dance Revolution, my wildest dreams have come true.

Japanese Solar Powered Cell Phones Stream Live TV: Lucky!

During my travels through Japan, I just had to stop by the Akihabara district. Known as "Electric City," it's packed with blocks and blocks of gadget shops, game arcades, and stores where you can get every kind of cable known to man. It was a geek's dream, and I was living in it.

Cruising around one shop in particular, I noticed how awesome Japanese phones are. Let me start out by saying there aren't many iPhones in Japan - they're way too expensive - and people don't seem to mind. Why? Well, on their slim but lengthy solar-charged flip phones, they can stream TV and watch movies from anywhere in the country. I couldn't help but be jealous of their advanced cell phone tech (and prices - these high tech babies were only about $150 bucks in-store). I say, forget the Solio and give me solar panels on my iPhone!

Play the Twilight Movie Game on Your Cell Phone

Counting down the days until the release of New Moon? Me too! Thankfully there are fun Twilight-inspired games to keep you entertained before the big day. I've already talked about the interactive Twilight Tracker app, but there's now a new game from Summit Entertainment and RealArcade for AT&T cell phone owners called the Twilight Mobile Game.

This new game can be downloaded on any AT&T handset (all wireless carriers will be available in the next few weeks) from here and includes hundreds of trivia questions from the movie. Unfortunately the game isn't free (costs between $7-$10 depending on your cell phone), so maybe the cheaper $3 Twilight Tracker iPhone app is a better option for those on a budget. Would You Watch "The Phone"?

Here's one unknown caller you don't want to ignore! Justin Timberlake is set to produce a game show for MTV called The Phone, where contestants would pick up cell phone calls hidden around a big city, and they'd have to complete missions assigned by the caller on the other end of the phone.

I'm kind of intrigued by the premise of this show, and totally stoked about the fact that a game show will be built around cell phones. But I'm guessing if the production value isn't that great, it might be boring watching two people talk on cell phones while running around a city - after all, I do already have The Hills (joke)! What do you think? Would you watch this show?

New Mobile Games For BlackBerry

Gameloft, a cellphone game maker, has announced it will bring its line of mobile games to the BlackBerry in hopes of grabbing a chunk of the device’s expanding market. This means that next time you see someone furiously punching away on their BlackBerry keyboard they might not be sending an all-important message, but well, gaming. Here's more:

“It’s becoming quite common to see people playing games on their BlackBerry,” said Mark Guibert, vice president of corporate marketing for Research in Motion, the company that makes the BlackBerry. “The reality is that the market isn’t split into two binary segments of gamers and non-gamers.”

Gameloft’s games are available for download onto hundreds of other cellphone makes and models. If you're not a Ghost Recon or Pro Football 2007 fan you can opt for the more girlie, but fun Desperate Housewives and brain twister options. Hey, there's even a Paris Hilton option. Game on!
