I love a good mixed tape, which is why I love all these retro-inspired goodies that resemble the 80's icon. Who didn't love receiving a good mixed tape from a friend, or even better, a crush? I thought so.

Everyone needs to eat, so why not cover up that vintage hand-me-down table you have shoved in your dining room with some geeky placemats like the ones I found on Holy Cool?
For about $16 dollars for a pack of six (plus tax and shipping of course), you can get your own set of record player, cassette, or old-school ghetto blaster placemats and stay totally entertained during dinner. Unfortunately, they don't actually function as working gadgets, so you'll just have to pretend and break your mom's rule of no singing at the table.

I bet your grandma hasn't had you over for a crochet-making session where she uses tape from old VHS tapes?! Now if she has, that's pretty rad, and I guess you can pretty much crochet any material that can be woven into a crocheted masterpiece, right?! As you can probably guess, this bag made entirely from recycled plastics has left me dumbfounded.

These fun neon bright retro cassette wallets made their debut at the Tokyo Designboom 2006 Mart where young design professionals showcased their latest products and showed off their geeky talents. Created by Italian designer Marcella Foschi, these wallets are actually hand made from real (Italian) cassette tapes. Geek chic and Italian - be still my heart.

Whether it coordinates with your decor or not, some things get free passes for being eco-friendly examples of recycled objects that would have been wasted otherwise. Such is the case with this Cassette Tape Lamp by Transparent House.
Indeed, while this lamp, made up of used, superfluous cassette tapes possesses a certain '80s aesthetic, it's also disarmingly ethereal — and it hits me right in my green spot.

I'm not sure if it's the fact that this Cassette Tape USB Hub is, well, a cassette tape that makes me a little bit excited, or if it's the fact that I can hook up four more peripherals to my machine when I need it. Having some extra ports can come in super handy when I'm rocking my stylish netbook and need to connect my camera and external hard drive at the same time. Or you know, to plug in my USB mini fridge to cool my Diet Coke.

King of Green Danny Seo is known for his eco-friendly home décor ideas; he recycles and reuses like you wouldn't believe, with more creativity in his little finger than I have in my whole body, or ever will.
He frequently gets geeky, reusing old media that I would normally give to Goodwill or let sit in the back of my closet until a big purge.
A couple weeks ago, he recycled old CDs into dumbells, and now he gathered another tech relic — cassette tapes — grabbed some other junk, and glued them onto old cans to make robot faces and voila, Mr. Roboto utensil cups.
