Rolling on with the Sex and the City tech coverage and the possibility of new iMacs this week, I had to wonder (!): What computer will Carrie be using in the movie? The film picks up four years later after the end of the TV show, so she could still be using her vintage PowerBook G3, since she went to great lengths to rescue it, and the fact that she was not the most tech-savvy person in the world.
On the other hand, it may have stopped ticking by then, and she might be turned on by a new MacBook (especially since it looks the most like her original machine in black), she may have heard that the hot Air was the gadget equivalent of her, and maybe her geek BFF Miranda taught her to go with the MacBook Pro.

My heart beats a little faster every day as we near May 30, the day the Sex and the City movie comes out. To that end, I've been posting the geekiest SATC clips to prepare, including everything from the motherboard failure to Carrie's Googling misadventures!
Our fearless and fiercely intelligent women proved they can tackle anything in the show, especially technology — but even a Mac girl like Carrie Bradshaw was mystified from time to time when she dove into a new geeky task.

It's hard to believe that Carrie Bradshaw spent so much time in front of a laptop and managed not to Google all of her dates. But that's exactly what she does here, in the last season of Sex and the City, when she discovers the power of Google and its ability to snoop on future boyfriends. Enjoy this little geeky SATC snippet, as a taster for the movie's May release and its promise of cell phone madness!

Just when men thought they were more techie then women, CBC news reports that internet usage among women has been ahead of male usage for some time. The eMarketer says that "female usage of the internet in the U.S. has risen 12.4 per cent since 2000, compared with 3.2 percent for males."

Remember when I asked you guys what computer you thought Carrie Bradshaw should use in the Sex and the City movie, and I teased that I thought I could see it in one of the trailers? Well, my hunch was right: Carrie carries a MacBook Pro in the movie!
You actually voted that she should start using the ultra-stylin' MacBook Air if she was going to abandon her trusty PowerBook, but I love that she has a Pro (it's my machine too) — not to mention that the Air wasn't available at the time of the filming.

If you've got the urge to back up ridiculous amounts of data (roughly 3050 movies), Apple's 2TB Time Capsule is now available for purchase online for $499.
Now I know you don't have millions of songs (OK, maybe you do), but your household might have a few laptops or computers that need to be backed up (you don't want to have a Carrie Bradshaw moment, do you?!) so this Time Machine may come in handy after all.

If I were a rich girl, then this iLuv iPod Holster $60 could be mine.
Would I buy it though? In its gold glory, it's kind of a fun display of empty excess, but I don't know if that's really my MO.

With the Sex and the City movie hitting theaters nationwide today, it's kinda exciting that my iGoogle page has SATC themed "How-To's" in my wikiHow's "How to of the Day" desktop gadget. Things like how to make a Cosmopolitan and how to fall out of love. .

The last time I had to use a payphone, it was because my phone errantly died (I sincerely hope that's what happens to Carrie Bradshaw here) and I was supposed to meet my boyfriend somewhere.
I remember being grossed out by all the germs of a shared phone, and got none of the nostalgia of being a teenager and using a payphone to call my mom to come pick me up from the mall. This Crosley 1950's Style Payphone returns all that nostalgia with none of the Purell — it goes in your home, and though quarters aren't required to use it, the coin slot works and the money gets deposited in the back of the phone — like a piggy bank!
