TDK Boom Boxes Drop in 2011

Remember the old-school boom boxes of yesteryear? All of the awesomeness that once was will soon be available in updated form. TDK is putting a modern spin on the classic design, releasing two new boom box models: a two-speaker model, and a three-speaker model.

The three-speaker model, which is the largest of the two, also features a center subwoofer that creates a classic vibration with your music's bass. And the two-speaker model features a shoulder strap for easy transport (which I'm sure will be a big hit among commuters). Both models feature a power and volume knob on the left and one on the right for navigating radio stations and adjusting settings. Both feature USB, 3.5mm, and RCA auxiliary ports to connect to any music source. You can even connect a microphone or guitar to the speakers, and they'll operate with batteries or plugged into the wall.

The TDK Boom Boxes will be available in January; the two-speaker model for $399, the three-speaker model for $499.

House of Marley's Block Party Livens Up Your Beach Escapades

The House of Marley booth was one of our favorites from last year, and it was definitely the most jammin' at CES Unveiled - an event where we get to check out what's to come at the big show before the expo opens - last night, too. Something new for 2012 is this Block Party Audio System ($250), which comes packed with Bluetooth wireless connectivity so you can stream your tunes without docking your phone or iPod. Super portable, the Block Party comes enclosed in a canvas exterior, and unzips to reveal two powerful 3.5-inch subwoofers and 1-inch tweeters to produce impressive sound on the go.

You can keep the Block Party running via a power supply when at home and juiced by the built-in rechargeable battery when you're at the beach, lake, or wherever warm weather beckons. Expect to see Marley's Block Party on virtual shelves soon.

Super 8 Cannes 20-Minute Sneak Peek: Five Reasons It Looks Awesome

The Cannes Film Festival screened 20 minutes of J.J. Abrams's highly anticipated new release Super 8 today. The movie takes place in 1979 when protagonist Joe is only 14. Joe's mom recently passed away and since then he is committed to helping his friend Charlie make movies. One illegal late-night shoot with Joe's crush Alice (Elle Fanning) and his buddies has the whole crew witnessing a terrible train crash that will change their lives. The clip that was screened gave a mysterious look at the sci-fi thriller, which hits theaters in June, and while most of it is still under wraps, there's a lot to get excited about.

To see the five reasons I'm most excited about Super 8, just

The mystery remains. This is going to be one of those movies you need to see opening weekend because you don't want all your friends spoiling it. Even after watching 20 minutes, Super 8 is incredibly mysterious, and we didn't even get a good look at whatever creature the train crash releases. The scenes I watched had a very Lost vibe about them, which should make Abrams fans very happy.

It's in the details. The movie takes place in 1979, and it's immediately clear that Abrams is committed to fine-tuning everything to perfection. In the short segment that I saw, the costumes were meticulous right down to Fanning's hair. At one point the sheriff is talking to the gas station attendant about this newfangled Walkman and calls teenagers carrying around mini boom boxes a "slippery slope." The humor and entertainment value is there, even in what appears to be a very nerve-wracking movie.

Elle Fanning is a star. Fanning plays Alice, who is acting in her friend Charlie's movie. From the moment they start acting in the film within a film, Fanning's talents are obvious. She plays the only girl in the otherwise boys-only posse and gets to drive the getaway car from the crash scene, which is pretty badass.

Big bangs. The first explosion scene of Super 8 is a sight to behold. It's big, but I imagine that means there are only bigger and more spectacular ones to come in the film. With the very young cast, romance might not be the central storyline, but the visual feast should be enough to tide viewers over.

Lost nostalgia. It's smart, it's witty, and there are probably secret hints hidden everywhere. After a quick peek, I can only imagine the tiny detailed clues hidden throughout Super 8. There is certainly a Cloverfield feel to the hype and released footage, but it seems like Super 8 might pack a bigger cultural punch. Saying that Abrams's newest venture will have the cult following of Lost is a stretch, but there's potential for more big hype around the project, and we are very excited to see the whole thing!

Film Forum: Is Captain America Your Favorite Summer Superhero?

As Summer rolls on, the box office continues to boom with brand new movies. This weekend, the superhero theme continued with Captain America, and I want to know how it stacked up to other superhero movies of the Summer. We've already seen Thor, X-Men, and Green Lantern, so how does Captain America measure up? If you caught the flick, we want your mini review!

If you didn't check out Chris Evans's beefed-up muscles but still hit the theater, that's OK, too. Did you investigate Mila and Justin's onscreen sizzle in Friends With Benefits? Or finally get your butt to Harry Potter's final showdown with Voldemort? Leave your two cents in the comments!

Extraordinarily Retro iPhone 4 Skins From WilliamAndCindy

There are those iPhone 4 owners that like to take risks by not outfitting their devices with a case. iPhone 4s are known to be on the slippery side, which makes them easily dropable, but packing on protection does add bulk to the otherwise sleek and slim smartphone. For those folks who want to add personality without a case, might I recommend a skin?

These skins, found in Etsy shop WilliamAndCindy, are perfect for keeping the iPhone 4s form factor, while giving it a pop of color and a hint of retro flare. From boom boxes to vintage cameras, these skins will even ward off scratches and scrapes your phone might encounter while tumbling around in the depths of your bag. Check out a few of our favorites in the slideshow!

Once he's on AZT, he can access 100% of his brainpower, which takes him from zero to hero in a matter of days. Things start to spiral out of control when Eddie learns of the pill's dangerous side effects, and when those around him start figuring out his secret and want in on the action. Though the plot meanders a bit, it's still a fun ride that confirms Cooper as a marketable leading man. The DVD extras include an alternate ending, an unrated extended cut, deleted scenes and a couple of making-of featurettes.

Extras on the DVD include several deleted scenes, a "music boom box" feature, the trailer, and a Take Me Home Tonight music video.

The pair were joined by director Will Gluck, Jenna Elfman, and Emma Stone at Monday night's Friends With Benefits premiere in NYC, but last week they were in LA to chat about disrobing in front of the cameras and favorite films at the junket. Justin also briefly shared what he has planned for the future of MySpace. Here's more:

Mila, are you a fan of Justin's music?
MK: "[I like] the way he sings "Happy Birthday."
JT: "Pretty sure you're a big fan of my original compositions."

Mila, are your parents comfortable with the sex scenes?
MK: [laughing] "They're okay with it. They've seen it, I'm still here [alive.] No, my dad saw it. You know, he liked it. He thought it was very funny. He actually thought it was sincerely very funny and that he liked the movie. Yeah no, he liked it."

Mila, do you have any interest in joining Twitter?:
MK: "I do not tweet, nor do I Facebook."
JT: "Just say no. You don't have to explain."

Justin, do you gravitate towards self deprecating humor?:
JT: "[serious]Yes, I think my life is hilarious. I should not be here, and I am. I think my life is funny."

Have either of you ever borrowed a romantic gesture from a film?:
JT: "I thought once about playing Peter Gabriel from a boom box."
MK: "That would be awesome."
JT: "Yeah?"
MK: "Yeah, you should do it."

Did you workout more knowing you'd be naked?:
MK: "I did not."
JT: "She weighed 87 lbs. from Black Swan so she was just eating cheeseburgers."
MK: "Yeah, now I'm at the gym all the time don't get me wrong."
JT: "I train mostly all the time, I think what I do is stop drinking beer and [start] eating more vegetables and less pasta."

To see more of what Justin and Mila had to say just

Justin, what were the sex scenes like?
JT: "There's not a lot of female nudity in this movie so my physical job in those scenes was to [cover Mila] make sure. . . whatever. I found out really quick what was in Mila's contract because I was covering it up. But I think we wanted those to be funny and we shared the camaraderie in that so it kind of took the weird air out of all that and we just sort of went for it."

Justin, what was it like working with Woody Harrelson?
JT: "Woody is amazing, Woody's just a fantastic actor and a great comedian, but I'm actually glad you brought that up because that's a really important part of the movie for me. Will and I had a lot of discussion about it. Woody's character in a lot of ways is an original on film to be able to portray a gay male in the way that he is. Coming from my experience, I have a lot of guy friends, straight and gay, and we're all just friends regardless of sexual preference. So I wanted that to be in the movie, and so we took some chances with it."

What romantic comedies did you watch to prepare for the role?
MK: Pretty Woman, When Harry Met Sally.
JT: Yeah, when When Harry Met Sally is probably a good one. You know Will kept referencing Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. . . I think it was only in reference in how he wanted the banter to feel. That these two were equal counterparts and that they couldn't see it and that's what makes you fall in love with their story as the movie progresses so you'll be like, 'You guys are perfect for each other, these two characters are perfect for each other' and they're fighting it and they're doing it through humor. . . We just wanted to make a comedy about our generation, we wanted to just say what was funny about our generation and I feel like we were able to do that."

What was important to interject into your characters?:
MK: "I think just being honest to the generation itself and not losing sight of that and not trying to please people or appease people, but just being truthful to what both Justin and myself and Will believed."
JT: "My favorite movie of all time, there's a quote from it, 'Yup, life moves pretty fast if you don't stop and take a look around once in a while you could miss it.' and I think that's part of our generation . . . I think that's why I feel like this is more a generational comedy. We weren't trying to make a romantic comedy. If anything, romantic comedies are by virtue not rated R so we wanted to make a real, situational comedy that two people happen to fall in love and then see if they can work it out."

Justin, can you tell us more about MySpace?:
JT:"I can't tell you because that would ruin when I get to tell you about it. But suffice it to say it's going to be what it should have been."

As we give you our two cents about each of the new movies, we want to give you all a turn to weigh in too. This weekend's biggest new release was Horrible Bosses, and we want to hear what you all thought of the film. Was Jennifer Aniston's sex-crazed dentist funnier than you had expected? Are you on board with Charlie Day as a movie star? Or do you think the film fell short amongst other 2011 comedies?

If Horrible Bosses didn't have you rushing to the theater, we still want to hear about any movie you saw. Perhaps you took some kids to see Zookeeper or caught Transformers: Dark of the Moon in its sophomore weekend? Tell us about the movie you saw this weekend in the comments.
