How To Change Your BlackBerry Pearl's Color

If you happen to have a BlackBerry Pearl I suggest you take a tip from the Spice Girls (hey, they are hot again, right?) and "spice up your life." You can do so by downloading ColorPearl, which allows you to change the color of the trackball on your BlackBerry Pearl. You can get the download for free from Viral Electronics. An easy way to get the software on your Pearl is to email the downloadable attachment to yourself and open it on your BlackBerry.

Note: The BlackBerry 8800 and Curve/8300 do not have the colored LEDs behind the trackball, so there is no way to make ColorPearl work on them. You can change your Pearl to white, red, green, blue, cyan, yellow, pink, custom or random.

John Mayer Gets His BlackBerry Curve On

Apparently when he's not busting his comedic chops or cutting his hair John Mayer likes to keep his guitar and BlackBerry Curve at close distance.

John's love for AT&T's new tiny device may have something to do with the fact that BlackBerry is the official sponsor of the John Mayer Summer Tour. Right now the BlackBerry website is offering a plethora of cute John ads that show off his new do, tour dates and behind-the-scenes content (the video isn't up yet, but I hear it's coming soon).

I'm not usually a huge Mayer fan, but right now I'm not sure who to swoon over more - the phone or John. I guess I'll settle for both.

Check Out The New BlackBerry Curve

BlackBerry makers Reasearch In Motion have introduced the BlackBerry Curve smartphone, which is apparently the smallest and lightest full QWERTY BlackBerry smartphone on the market. I don't think I'm ready to upgrade from the Pearl, but the Curve does look pretty in these ads. "With it's smooth and friendly design encompassing a large display, easy-to-use keyboard and intuitive trackball navigation system, this powerful new smartphone makes it easy to stay connected to the people and information that matter most," says BlackBerry. Here's more:

"The BlackBerry Curve offers a unique blend of communications, multimedia and web features to provide people with an exceptional mobile companion for both work and leisure," said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at RIM. Why Do Celebrities Love Ugly Cell Phone Clips?

Last week PopSugar reported that Courteney Cox hit up Il Sole with her daughter, little Coco. I couldn't help but notice the usually chic Cox was sporting an awkward, "this was inspired by a 47-year-old business man" cell phone clip on her belt.

Sadly, Courteney isn't the only celebrity to commit this major geek faux paux. Nicole Richie's fella Joel Madden was also spotted wearing his BlackBerry on his hip recently, leading me to believe that somewhere there are a pack of stylists or personal assistants encouraging the use. Yes, I know, they are important, busy people, but your phone shouldn't be worn as an accessory in any circumstance.

As always, my advice is to get a more chic and discreet cell phone holder, which will allow you to keep your phone within reach, but not attached to your body.

Oscar Worthy-Gadgets: The Devil Wears Prada Phones

Fab may have been checking out the hot messenger bag by La Rue that Andy carries in The Devil Wears Prada, but my eyes were locked on the Sidekicks that seemed to sneak into every single street scene in the movie. In fact, I even noticed a movie goof: At the end of the movie when Miranda, played by Meryl Streep, calls Andy, played by Anne Hathaway, in Paris, Andy looks at her T-mobile Sidekick and it's ringing. The phone shows Miranda's name and under it, it says, "Connecting." For it to say that, Andy would have had to call Miranda and her phone wouldn't have been ringing.

IMDB clued me in to another Sidekick blunder: In one scene, Andy throws her Sidekick into the fountain, she is holding it in one hand. The reverse shot of the face of the Sidekick shows her holding it with both hands. Still, Anne, Meryl and Emily Blunt looked smashing in the whole movie and their Sidekicks were just as flashy. Geeksugar Tests The White Blackberry Pearl

I was walking by the T-Mobile store on the way back from lunch yesterday and I noticed their big sign outside advertising the new white Blackberry Pearl. Being the geeky but charming woman that I am I convinced the very nice guy behind the counter to let me check out and photograph the sexy thing. Yeah, that's right, I called it sexy.

The Pearl is known for its easy-to-use phone, personal e-mail, and web browsing capabilities and it just happens to be my phone of choice because it allows me access to my e-mail and geeksugar no matter where I am. I know a lot of you are RAZR and Sidekick fans, but the Pearl is worth checking out if you want access to your e-mail around the clock.
