Check out the latest techie project for parks: light benches! Covered with huge white light-filled bulbs, which I'm assuming are solar powered and super sturdy, these bright benches may be a vision of the future. Featured on pc news, illuminated benches hope to make public parks safer by reducing crime and suspicious activity.

Everyone sits a little differently when they're playing video games — different, at least, from how they sit while watching TV. Is it any surprise then, that someone would make a seat for video game play?
This is Ikea's new Jesper Bench ($70), which is a brilliant idea (much better than those decor-unfriendly and juvenile low seats from the '90s), but when you see someone on it, using it for how it's supposed to be used.

Yes, after the new MacBook Pros, new MacBook Airs, and new MacBooks were announced at the Apple Event in Cupertino yesterday, who else, but none other than Laurene Powell Jobs, decided to sit down on a bench right next to me. As she chatted away on her sleek white iPhone, I instantly knew it was her — especially after our "Geek Love: Tech Giants and Their Ladies" story which featured her and her hubby looking oh-so-adorable. Within a few minutes, Steve decided to join his blond beauty for some one-on-one time, which I'm guessing turned into a lunch date or a ride home together.

Monday's WWDC 2007 offered up a small army of Apple announcements. Mac OS X Leopard will be shipped this fall, the iPhone will be released June 29 at 6pm at AT&T Wireless and Apple Stores in the United States, and Safari 3, which Apple calls "the world’s fastest and easiest-to-use web browser," is now available for Macs and Windows PCs.
According to Steve Jobs, Safari is the fastest browser running on Windows, based on the industry standard iBench tests, rendering web pages up to twice as fast as IE 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2.

Picture this, you're sitting on a beautiful bench next to the River Thames, you whip out your laptop and hey - what do you know, you pick up a crystal clear wifi signal so you call your boss and say, "you know what? I'm working from the river today."
USA Today reports that the River Thames in London has turned into a gigantic Wi-Fi hot spot that can be used by anyone with a wireless device on the river or along its banks.

Last month my parent's borrowed my PowerShot SD600 digital camera when they took a day trip to the wine county in Napa and left it on a bench. Typical, right? They made up for it this week by finally remembering to give me a check so I can purchase the replacement for myself.
