LEGO Accessories: Love It or Leave It?

I was cruising Karmaloop yesterday when I came across these cool Lego belt buckles and pins which are made from real Legos. The brown and cream Damier and green and orange Gucci belt buckles both come in at $75 each, while the Pac-Man brooch and Bow Tie will set you back $100 and $125 respectively. Although I dig the retro feel that takes me back to my Lego-obsessed days, I'm not sure if they're worth shelling out that much dough to own. I'm sure some crafty geek could DIY these suckers. What do you think?

Etsy Find: Belt Buckle Frame

Since I recently suggested you repurpose your belt buckles as frames, when I came across a belt buckle for sale used in the same way, I couldn't help but share! The Domestikate Custom Belt Buckle ($26) was originally used to hold polished rock and gemstone pieces, and it has a D-ring on its back side, so it can actually be used as a buckle or just as a decorative frame. I love its 1970s Western theme, and think it just begs for a black-and-white cowboy image inside. The seller will print your photo to size and set it in the frame with a plastic protection sheet in front. Pretty neat, huh?

If you've ever had a problem sticking your nano in your pockets you might want to consider doing two things. No. 1 is buying some looser jeans. No. 2 is checking out the Nano belt buckles, which are sure to generate a lot of questions.

TuneBuckle is a funky and funny iPod nano case made out of aluminum. We have taken great care to produce a product of the highest quality and design. The makers suggest the design allows you to "carry your nano to the grocery store, to the club, or to the board room," and while I am slightly confused why you would need your nano in a board room or a club, I'm intrigued.

The belts come in three designs, the "Full Moon" (shown above), the "Original" (shown in the middle) and the "Full Metal Jacket" (shown at the bottom).

Pringle of Scotland Fall 2012

Alistair Carr showed a range of sophisticated offerings for Pringle of Scotland's Fall collection. Incorporating a rich color palette and plenty of cozy texture, Carr created oversized coats embellished with eye-catching colored collars, knitted dresses, and a smart play on twinsets. The latter, showcased layered sweaters made to look like a sweater and shell combo, but is actually just one piece. Leave it to Kate and Laura Mulleavy to not only draw a star-studded front row - hello, George Lucas, Natalie Portman, and Dakota Fanning - but to deliver a stellar, 1940s-inspired Fall '12 collection too. One part cave-drawing-infused, one part retro femme, and one part Australian outback-reminiscent, Rodarte showcased a beautiful mix of totally girlie pieces with both red-carpet appeal and wearable ladylike style. The sister duo paid close attention to feminine details á la Peter Pan collars, artfully structured ruffles, and metal star appliqué hair combs. Yet, never ones to shy away from throwing some quirk into the picture, they added literal hand prints to long, flowy evening gowns and added cowboy buckles to double-strap leather belts. The biggest covet-worthy takeaway from today's show? After several seasons of collaborating with key shoe designers like Nicholas Kirkwood and Christian Louboutin, the Mulleavy sisters debuted their first-ever in-house shoe collection. We're calling it: Rodarte's two-tone pumps with heels made of plexiglass, sexy dominatrix-inspired spat heels, and lace-up boots will be Fall '12 It girl items. All in all, it's a gorgeous autumnal lineup, just begging to be worn.

DKNY Fall 2012

Dedicated to the Beat Generation, DKNY Fall 2012 showed a collection filled with strong silhouettes, pretty details, and even some shearling and fur. Designed with a city girl in mind, these seemed dedicated to the working city girl - skirt and jacket looks were belted for a crisp look, and coats were edged in leather. Ashley Greene, Nina Dobrev, and Coco Rocha were seated in the front row, watching the models come in literally off the street - the show was sat in a cavernous garage-like space with double-doors that opened out onto the sidewalk, allowing the models to walk in. Minus the fact that it was freezing out, it made for an energetic show.

Trends: ladylike, fur details, leather sleeves, florals.
Colors: Black, gray, plum, red, florals.
Key Piece: A leather-sleeved coat to wear over sheath dresses.
Accessories: Fur snoods with buckle closures, sleek clutches, red ankle strap platform heels.

Balmain Spring 2012

From the looks of things, Olivier Rousteing knows exactly what Balmain is made of. For Spring 2012, the designer showed us what might happen if a Spanish dancer went west - a mix of long, duster-like leather skirts and denim button-ups paired with the label's signature embellishments on body-conscious minidresses, skirts, and slim pants and jackets. Gold embroidery and fringe on white pants, skirts, and boleros all hinted at beautifully ornate Spanish detailing; while leather pants, denim shirts and skirts, and laser-cut leather brought us back to the Old West. At the core, it's still what Balmain does best - standout, rich metallics, and beading on the slickest and sexiest silhouettes.

Trends: leather, boleros, embellishment, fringe, embroidery, and high-waisted pants.
Colors: black, white, gold, some florals and denim.
Key Piece: the black embellished suit; the gold and white embellished mini and denim shirt.
Accessories: embellished suede and cutout leather booties, gold cuffs, chain bracelets and belts, oversize gold belt buckles.
