Beatles Rock Band to Have an All Singing Mode, No SingStar

Until Sept. 9, I'm fairly sure I won't not be freaking out about every little tidbit of information on Beatles Rock Band, and the following is no exception: Kotaku reports that the game will feature an all-singing mode.

This news comes after previous rumors of a Singstar version with Beatles songs, which have also been dispelled.

While that would have also been awesome, the all-singing feature still sounds hot; in fact, there may even be special microphone packs for the Beatles game. Stay tuned.

The countdown to September 9 has begun. That's the date Beatles Rock Band is released, and until then, I can't get enough of the stunning videos of the game that are serving as teasers.

The latest is this "music video" for "Ticket to Ride" - which also gives you another look at what game play will be like. Screaming, freaking out fans? That's so going to up my game.

So I can say this now, but I was really, really nervous that Beatles: Rock Band was not going to do my favorite band of all-time justice. Then I saw the trailer and was bolstered with hope. And then of course, I experienced it at E3 and all my potential disappointment wasted away. I will be buying this game, and my neighbors will be banging on my walls to get me to stop singing Hard Day's Night.

If you still have any doubts, check out this gorgeous new video - a veritable history of the Beatles, in animated form - that IGN created. However the game turns out, IGN has been working hard to please legions of devoted fans.

So for hard-core Beatles fans like myself, tell me - did the Rock Band game ever give you pause over whether it would live up to the band's legacy?

Finally! More Beatles: Rock Band juiciness was revealed yesterday when Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr took the stage at E3. A partial song list was revealed, but what's more exciting is the brand spankin' new trailer below! Play it and hear some of the chosen songs, plus footage of the band's avatars and game play.

There are still a couple more months before the Beatles come to Rock Band, and it's exhilarating not only because HELLO IT'S THE BEATLES (huge fangirl over here), but also because the legendary quartet's music has not always been friendly with modern tech - namely, the major dramz between the Beatles and iTunes. Will the Rock Band game finally open the door for the Beatles' music to be widely available digitally? Who knows, but in the meantime, take a look at the long and winding (tech) road we've been on with them so far.

There's been so much teasing when it comes to the Beatles and the tech world. The unresolved issue of the band not being available on iTunes has always bummed me out, but I'm bummed no longer: The Beatles are coming to Rock Band!

There's a teaser page up now with the date of September 9, 2009, being touted as the release. Sweetening the pot is the promise that there will also be new hardware that mimics the instruments played by George, Paul, John, and Ringo.

Here comes the sun, indeed!

Beatles Catalog Finally Available for iTunes Download!

Can you hear me cheering?! Beatle Paul McCartney has finally struck a $400 million deal with iTunes to make the Beatles catalog available for download. Even though I do have many Beatles CDs to put on my iPod, I think I just may have been waiting for this news for as long as iTunes has been around.

Last year, the Beatles and Apple resolved their beef over the Apple logo (Apple also being the name/logo of the Beatles' label), but were mum on the availability of Beatles music for download. That deal seems to have paved the way for yesterday's announcement. Classic Beatles albums are expected to top iTunes charts. This is awesome news for digital music and Beatles fans, so I'd like to know, since being excited about this is totally a given, HOW excited are you?

Apple and The Beatles' Apple Corps Make Peace over Apple Trademark

All they need is love, right?

In the case of Apple Inc. and The Beatles' Apple Corps Ltd, there has been a long-standing dispute about who has the right to the Apple trademark. Well, finally some peace and maybe a little bit of love has come from all of this as a settlement has been reached. Apple will now permit downloads of the band's music through iTunes, which has been the longest holdout from Apple and other online music services.

The settlement also gives ownership of the name and logo in return for agreeing to license some of those trademarks back to Apple Corps - the management firm in charge of The Beatles’ commercial interests.

This is what Steve Jobs had to say about the entire fiasco and settlement:

We love the Beatles, and it has been painful being at odds with them over these trademarks. It feels great to resolve this in a positive manner, and in a way that should remove the potential of further disagreements in the future.
