It's What You've Been Waiting For: BSG, the Complete Series

I have to be honest - I've felt like a piece of me has been missing since the finale of Battlestar Galactica. I know, I know, I gotta move on. But thankfully, the epic space opera can live on in my heart, and soon it can live on a loop in my DVD player! Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series ($220) hits shelves on July 28, and it couldn't come at a better time. What with So You Think You Can Dance drawing to a close, I'll need something to fill my time until the geeky shenanigans of The Office return to my screen.

If you couldn't tell, I'm a little channel-happy these days. That's what happens once you get a TiVo, but hey, you just gotta roll with the punches.

Salma Sports a "What The Frak?!" Shirt on 30 Rock

Actress Salma Hayek has had quite the week in geekland! Not only did her MobileMe email account get hacked into (sorry, nothing scandalous to report), but she also appeared on 30 Rock wearing a Battlestar Galactica- inspired "What The Frak?!" shirt. And she didn't just wear the shirt, her character Elisa even makes a reference to it!

Sad About BSG Being Over? So Is the President

You know, I thought something was off. I've noticed that President Obama's eyes haven't had quite the same sparkle for the past few weeks, and The Onion finally tells us why: Battlestar Galactica is over.

Apparently, the President was a huge BSG fan and has recently blown off daily routines and has shown signs of depression! A staffer for Mr. Obama gives us the inside scoop:

He no longer cares if he lets himself go "just like Lee did before the rescue on New Caprica," and has told aides he feels "like a cylon without a Resurrection Ship."

Ahh, Mr. President, I feel your pain. My Friday nights also feel a little colder. We can get through it together buddy. Yes we can.

Battlestar Galactica Quiz Roundup

Was your Friday a little colder than it has been before? Whether it be the warmth of your TV that kept you warm, or the heated drama aboard the Galactica, we'll all have a hole in our hearts (and TV viewing schedule) now that the show is over. Thankfully, we do have a few things to look forward to: The Plan, which is Edward James Olmos's two-hour movie looking at the series from the Cylon's point of view, and Caprica, a sort of prequel to BSG that unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) looks like it has nothing to do with the BSG series at all.

Settling in for the final episode of Battlestar Galactica, I was very sad, yet pretty excited to see how producers Ron Moore and David Eick would wrap everything up.

Although the episode wasn't exactly what I had expected, I felt like the story was complete. I'm actually considering re-watching the entire series to pick up on things I may have missed. It's the beginning of the end, BSG fans, and although part one of the series finale wasn't the most action-packed episode of the season, it sure was emotional. We got a glimpse of what life was like back on Caprica before the Cylon attack, and saw a whole other side to Gaius Baltar that I never expected.

The Galactica has seen better days, that's for sure. Four years after its scheduled retirement, the ship that holds thousands of military and civilians is starting to break down . . . and it's sad. What's worse, it's like Adama himself feels the ship's pain in his bones. Although, I'm sure he feels better after smoking it up with President Roslin in sick bay!
