New London Bar Includes Fully-Interactive Interior

Welcome to 24, one of the most technologically-advanced bars located in London, England. Said to be the first fully-interactive bar in the world, 24 will feature computer controlled projections that can transform images and video on a blank canvas wall with the click of a switch. There will also be hundreds of LED lights installed that will give the venue over 1,000 different color combinations. What is really unique are the interactive projections that will react to your movements when you attempt to touch them. For instance, say you are at the bar with a glass, the projections will send light beams across the base of the drink. Best Geek Bars In US, According to Wired

This month's Wired Magazine features a list of the top six geek bars in the US that can't be missed if you're a bar-going geek. While the concept of a geek bar excites me to no end, I do worry the crowd at such places is slightly more likely to use pick up lines like "you make me want to upgrade my Tivo" and "by looking at you I can tell you're 36-25-36, which by the way are all perfect squares." Just a guess. I must admit, their pick for Edinburgh Castle in my hometown of San Francisco is spot on. The A-listers include:

The giant menu on the wall is in the form of the periodic table of the elements, and it’s just a short unicycle ride from MIT.

The large selection of beers on tap is outdone by 25 mint-condition, 1980s arcade games lining the walls.

Only at the Las Vegas Hilton can you drink Romulan ale and be amused by roaming Klingons.

Totally Geeky or Geek Chic? Bar Code Chandelier

I love geek art. From Circuit boards turned into wall hangings, necklaces and earrings to retro geek prints, robot statues and anything that was inspired by cerebral, borderline nerd sensibilities. So naturally, I love the Bar Code Chandelier designed by Mobilet. Apparently, other people must love the sized chandelier based on the ubiquitous bar code graphic as well because it's sold out. It is made out of lasercut black and transparent acrylic. I can't see putting this in my house, but I think it would be adorable in a techie-office or retro modern shop.

Geek Tip: Make Your TiVo's Progress Disappear Faster

Although I think you should get a TiVo for more than just to watch the tube, there are some minor things I wish I could change about the player. For example, the status bar on the bottom of the screen - it takes forever to disappear! Now some of you may think I'm being overly dramatic, but really, it takes a while, no?

So when you can't take it anymore, just enter this sequence on your remote: Select, Play, Select, Pause, Select, which should take care of your lagging status bar for good.

Access Store Coupons on Your iPhone With the Yowza App

With the holidays right around the corner, I'm not only starting to think about shopping, but I'm also thinking of creative ways to save. Yesterday, I told you about ten websites that will help you save some money on gifts, and today it's all about Yowza!!, an iPhone and iPod Touch app that will show you all of the store coupons within a mile or as far as 15 miles from where you are shopping (which makes sense why it has two exclamations after its name!).

Once you download this free app, open it and you will see all of the coupons applicable to your location, or you can type in a store name to see what's available. And if an offer includes a bar code, just have the cashier scan the barcode, right from your phone. No coupon clipping, no paper, no hassles - I die!

Do You Like Facebook's Reconnect Strategy?

I just read an article about Facebook's "reconnect" strategy - the newly implemented practice of featuring a friend you haven't interacted with in a while. They appear on the right side of the newly redesigned homepage. Facebook's explanation:

Facebook is only useful and relevant if you can connect with friends that matter to you. Now you also will begin seeing new Suggestions about people with whom you are already friends, including those who are new to the site. You will see just how much help your friends need by checking out the progress bar located below their profile picture on their profile. You can help them by writing on their Wall or sending them a message, so they have a chance to get involved in sharing as well.

Underneath your friend's photo: the prompt, "Help make Facebook better for her," or "Find more friends for him." What's any caring FB friend to do? While I'm not completely positive how the Facebook algorithms work, it's funny to see who they suggest (my grandmother, for instance). In general, I don't have a problem with the new feature - except if it starts trying to reconnect me with an ex-boyfriend, of course.

Do you like this feature, or would you prefer Facebook stopped making suggestions?
