In the words of Austin Powers: It's goooooooold! There's something grandiose and whimsical about gilded and gold gadgets. They're a little bit disco, a little bit rock 'n' roll and a little bit luxurious.

Black may be basic and the expected color of PCs and cell phones, but it can be just as sleek and chic as white and silver. It hides stains and scratches and projects an air of seriousness. I mean, there's a reason offices filled with accountants and lawyers use black laptops and desktops and not cherry red minis, right?

Throwing down green for a white gadget means a commitment to not drop your phone, not spill spaghetti or a cocktail on your prized gadget, and well, treat it like a baby. That being said, snowy white gadgets are sleek, modern, and oh-so-hip. Just ask all the people who picked the white iPhone over black or original.

There's a silver lining to all lustrous and grayish gadgets outside of their technical function — they are sleek, sophisticated, and sexy. From the aluminum MacBook Pro and MacBook Air to the cheeky Clocky chrome to the practical but chic BlackBerry Curve, silver gadgets are professional, androgynous, and attractive. To see some of my favorite gleaming gizmos, check out the selection below.

The red Hayden-Hartnett Ibiza bag ($200) is my top pick for an all-purpose Fall computer carrier, but I understand not everyone is into colorful or pricey laptop bags and sleeves. After more than 76 percent of you said you loved the Deena & Ozzy Quilted Laptop Bag ($48), I decided it was time scope out some chic black laptop bags for those who like to keep it simple and classic.
I die for this professional but pretty Roxy Sanctuary Bag ($48), which comes with ample lining and a built-in laptop sleeve.

Purple may be best known commercially as the color of Barney and Purple People Eater, but its history as the hue of nobility makes it a regal choice for gadgets and accessories. The mixture of red and blue makes for a feminine, but strong color that can suffer a little wear and tear and still look vibrant. Here are some of the most precious purple products on the planet.
