Download of the Day: Baby Shield

I know I've talked about other great downloads for baby-proofing your computers, but I have to say this one definitely stands out from the rest. Baby Shield is a Mac application that protects your laptop, programs and files while it is running and while your curious and inquisitive baby decides to use your keyboard as a drum set.

And not only does Baby Shield safeguard important documents, but it displays images and music whenever the keyboard is pressed by your baby - love that!

I know that this long list looks scary, but trust me, once you get the hang of it, it'll be a snap the second time around.

First of all, join the Download of the Day group
Click "Create and Share!" on the left hand side
Choose "Blog"
Give your photo a Title
Leave the category as "general"
Change the channel to "technology and gadgets"
Add keyword(s) (for example mine for this photo was "Download of the Day")
Click on the "Add Image" link below the "body" box
A popup window will happen - click on "Browse" to find your image on your computer
Once you have the image chosen, click "Submit"
The popup will show you your image, choose size: "normal" - if you want, you can give it a title (which will show up as a caption)
Click "Insert" and the popup will go away
Your "body" box will now have some text in it. Leave it as is. If you want to add some text before the picture telling me why you love the download, do it before the code that has appeared.
Click Submit

Beyoncé Knowles carried a Kate Spade New York handbag as she ran errands around NYC this morning with the help of an assistant. He once again held her umbrella after also shielding her from the rain while she shopped yesterday. Beyoncé covered her belly in a leopard-print top during that outing, but today she showed off her shape in a tight minidress. While Beyoncé's baby bump has been the center of attention lately, the mom-to-be is also focused on her career. She's launching a maternity clothing line with House of Deréon, recently released the video for "Countdown," and is front and center on the November cover of Harper's Bazaar.

The Beckhams Have a Boys' Night Out as David Takes on Real Salt Lake

Romeo, Cruz, and Brooklyn Beckham were at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA on Saturday night to cheer on dad David Beckham as he and the LA Galaxy took on Real Salt Lake. The Galaxy won the match 2-1, which means there's a strong chance they'll take home the Supporters' Shield this year, an honor that goes to the soccer team with the best regular-season record. All three of David's sons were sporting jerseys with their dad's number, 23, as they watched from their box seats, and they later rejoined their father and the team's mascot on the field. The trio have been regular fixtures at the Galaxy's games lately. Last week, they watched them beat Mexican team Monarcas Morelia, and David - who was suspended for the game after racking up two yellow cards recently - joined them in the stands. Baby Harper Beckham is still a little too young to join in on the sports action, but she was close by her mother Victoria Beckham's side during Fashion Week in NYC earlier this month, where Victoria presented her latest collection and took Harper shopping with her at Prada.

Double stroller pushers are often faced with a dilemma: sacrifice comfort for the convenience of a compact stroller, or choose a wide side-by-side carriage that is often unwieldy and hard to manage in crowds. The newest crop of double strollers is out to solve that dilemma with side-by-side pushchairs that mimic the size and maneuverability of classic single strollers. The latest to enter the market is Mountain Buggy's Duet ($600). The company sent us one of the first strollers off the assembly line for testing purposes. See how it measures up.

Who is this product designed for? As the narrowest side-by-side double stroller on the market, the Duet is perfect for parents of twins, or tots close in age, who use their stroller around town, not just for walks through the neighborhood.

Is it practical? The Duet gives double stroller-pushing parents more flexibility than ever before. It easily fits through the standard 32-inch door frame and maneuvers as smoothly as lightweight stroller down both nicely paved paths and torn up city streets. Able to accommodate two car seats (one seated slightly higher than the other) and two bassinets, the pushchair can be used from birth on up. The fully-reclining seats provide lil ones with plenty of space to stretch out and rest while the seats' independent canopies feature "flick-out sun visors" that provide extra protection once tots lay down. An adjustable handlebar provides both taller and shorter-than-average parents comfortable pushing positions.

Single or Double: How Did You Pump?

Pumping was never an activity I excitedly jumped into. It was more of a necessity that I tried to complete as quickly as possible. In fact, I kept mental track of how quickly I could empty each breast and raced against my previous times each time I sat down to do the task. That said, I learned to appreciate a good, efficient pump that not only got the job done, but did so comfortably.

So I was excited when Tommee Tippee announced the introduction of their breast pumps in the US. I'm a fan of their bottles and sippy cups, and thought their pumps would incorporate their best features. And they did. The Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Single Electric Breast Pump System ($150) has soft silicone shields (just like the nipples on their bottles) that are comfortable, and don't dig in like plastic versions. The shields are ribbed to mimic a baby's hand massage, and they attach directly to the bottles for convenience sake. Best of all, they come with two two-ounce "protection pods" that fit right into the bottles – meaning if you can't express enough milk to fill the bottle, the little pods can be removed for freezing.

But what struck me as odd, was that Tommee Tippee has only introduced single pumps, both manual and electric. As someone who tried to get in and out of a session fast, I wanted to express on both sides at the same time. Did you?

Kristen Stewart Shares the First Images of Her Snow White Character at Comic-Con

Kristen Stewart was back at Comic-Con in San Diego today sitting on her second discussion panel of the week. On Thursday she joined Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and the Breaking Dawn Part I cast to share new details about the highly anticipated wedding and honeymoon scenes, as well as what it was like giving birth to a vampire baby. Today, however, Kristen was excited to talk about a new project, Snow White and the Huntsman. She was joined by costars Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, and director Rupert Sanders, who surprised the crowd by debuting the first images of Kristen and the rest of the cast in their Snow White and the Huntsman costumes. Kristen, who plays Snow White, wields a shield and full suit of armor in the promotional photos opposite Charlize, who poses as the Wicked Queen in a dark and haunting portrait. Chris is back in full battle gear for his role as the Huntsman, though this time he's been given an ax as protection instead of the mighty hammer he carried in Thor. During today's panel Charlize jokingly challenged Kristen to a fight, saying, "I'm ready for it, b*tch, let's go." Kristen in turn said she's eager to work with "really cool weapons" in addition to doing "sword stuff."

Lil Community: Why Didn't Anybody Tell Me the Truth About Breastfeeding?

I thought it was going to be so easy and natural. My mother had breastfed all three of us, and never seemed to have any problems. I took a breastfeeding class to make sure I knew what I was in for, but apparently they didn't tell me everything...

When my son was born in January, I was fully prepared to breastfeed, but he screamed and cried when we tried to get him to latch on. The lactation specialist at the hospital was certain he had some abnormality of his mouth or tongue-tie, and the doctors told me that probably wasn't the case and to wait it out. Now, when you've just given birth, you're on very little sleep and have raging hormones, this is not a good time to hear two specialists arguing over your son's health. I left the hospital with a breast pump, assorted breastfeeding gadgets, and some backup formula. I felt like I was letting him down.

I was determined to keep trying anyway, and my perseverance paid off. Suddenly, at six weeks of age with the help of a nipple shield, he figured it out and got down to business! I then read online that others experienced the same thing around the 6th week, and that not all babies are able or willing to latch on right after birth. We've had our ups and downs since then, and he's not 100 percent breastfed, but things are going better.

The stylish 3-month-old tot was spotted accompanying his mama on some grocery errands yesterday, where both were protecting their eyes from the sun's strong rays. It's never too early to shield lil ones' peepers from UV rays, and there are plenty of trendy pint-sized sunglasses to do the job, including the John Lennon-esque version ($7) baby Skyler wore on the outing.
