A Sneak Peek of Mulberry's Accessory Collection For Apple

Yesterday at the Mulberry Store in London, England, stars came out to set sight on the British fashion brand's latest accessory line, which consists of laptop bags, sleeves, mini messengers, and iPhone/iPod Touch cases. FabSugar UK admits that this is a good partnership between the two companies and I'd have to agree with her. This nine-piece collection will feature bags with Mulberry's signature icons like the Bayswater for women and the Brynmore for men.

The items are available now from selected Mulberry stores, or you can wait until Dec. 1 when they'll be available online from the Apple store.

We've seen Elle Macpherson in London with a certain rock star, and now we've spied her with sons Flynn and Aurelius Cy at the Apple store on Regents Street. Ever the multitasker, Elle held her laptop and mobile in one hand and her youngest son in the other as she made her way down the stairs (our girl Geek is definitely not a fan of those stairs). What May Have Been With Tech Logos

It's funny how once you get used to something, you can't imagine it any other way. This is completely true for companies and their logos. Neatorama has dug up and compiled the original and developed logos of our favorite tech companies to show us how they got to where they are today.
Somehow I just can't see the little icon of Isaac Newton sitting under a tree on the silver sheath of my MacBook Pro, and that original Google font? Clunky and foreign, and yet not a huge stretch from what it is now, but like I said, I can't see it any other way. Anyway, it's always interesting to see what happens when technology and aesthetic design intersect. Check out the gallery for my favorites of Neatorama's finds!

iRing Bluetooth Connectivity Would Control i-Devices

The real question is, who doesn't wish they could control their iPod or iPhone with a tiny ring? When I came up with the idea for iGems I never considered how great it would be if the jewelry actually manipulated my Apple devices. Of course, I'm not a designer like Victor Soto, who came up with the stylish design for the iRing.

The iRing allows you to control playback and volume on any of your Apple media devices and features a bright OLED status display with touch-sensitive function strip, and a rechargeable battery life of up to 2 days. It's just a concept, but I love it.

Vintage Geek: Original Macintosh User Manual

There are very few things geekier than user manuals: They house loads of secrets, tips and tricks that techie freaks like myself pride ourselves on knowing. But what do old manuals say about a company like Apple, which has rose to iconic status since the release of its first official manual? A man named Peter Merholz recently purchased an original Macintosh user manual from eBay and posted the pages online for the whole world to reminisce and drool over. I hate to break it to Justin Long, but the original "Mac" guys were pretty dreamy in a smart surfer boy meets Sean Penn kind of way. "It’s been an intriguing read," says Peter. "It’s a remarkably handsome manual, beautifully typeset, which, considering par for the course at the time was probably Courier with few illustrations, is saying something."

Apple Announcements: New Shuffle Colors, Nano With Video, 160 GB iPod and iPod Touch!

Forget the Mac cupcakes, I need a new nano! Steve Jobs is making his big announcements about upcoming Apple products at San Francisco's Moscone Center as I type. Engadget is blogging live if you want to check out a full transcript, but the first major announcements are a new lineup of shuffle colors, which will be available in time for the holidays, a PRODUCT (RED) nano, new nano with video capabilities and a new 160GB iPod, which is smaller than the original iPod and puts 40k songs in your pocket.

"We are adding a RED shuffle - if you want to do something about these diseases in Africa," Engadget quotes Steve Jobs as saying. "Same 1GB of storage, $79, shipping today, available shortly. Now let's move on to something more substantial, the iPod nano. It's incredibly tiny, this is the new nano, it's incredibly thin. It's REALLY nice." The new nano will come in what Jobs calls "beautiful colors," have a larger 2-inch screen and will play video. The new iPod will come in 80 and 160 GB, and will cost $250 and $350 respectively. Apple will also release 8GB and 16GB iPod Touch devices, which are much like the iPhone.

Apple Keyboard Review: New vs. Old

Earlier this month Apple redesigned their keyboard along with the new iMacs and given the fact that our keyboards are dirty cesspools at this point we decided it was time we upgraded and gave the new models a spin. The new keyboards are made of sculpted aluminum and come in wired and unwired (it uses Bluetooth) models. On both models the keys are set much closer to the actual board than the older version, which both minimizes sound and allows less spring for your fingers. They also have function keys for one-touch access to features such as screen brightness, volume, eject, play/pause, fast-forward and rewind, Expose, and Dashboard.

The wired keyboard features USB 2.0 ports for connecting to your iPod, Mighty Mouse, digital camera, and other USB-based electronic devices. The wireless keyboard uses Bluetooth wireless technology and can be paired with the new wireless Mighty Mouse.

Keys have been updated to resemble MacBook with new fonts and are very easy to type on. Many multimedia functions have been condensed with F keys. Has two extra hidden USB ports for a mouse, etc. Definitely a sleeker, quieter and easier to clean/keep clean device.	Takes a bit of getting used to and you need to install the keyboard upgrade software to get started. Other than a few finger slips, the switch should be effortless.	Costs $49
New Wireless Apple Keyboard	It's cable free, which is every geek's dream. Same low-profile anodized aluminum frame as the Wired model. It connects via Bluetooth technology and apparently conserves battery by automatically powering down the keyboard when you’re not using it and turning it on the instant you start typing.	We never love Bluetooth as much as we think we will. Maybe it's just us.	Costs $79
Old Apple Keyboard	Clear plastic frame, which is surprisingly durable. We loved the easy USB connectivity and have a certain nostalgia for the "click click" noises.	No matter how much I try to keep it clean, it manages to get dirty in hard to reach areas. We had to use rubber wrist support because of the height of keyboard.	After test driving the new ultra-thin keyboard, I can't say I'll be pulling out my old keyboard anytime soon. Maybe a back-up for emergency spills.

iPhone Lust + Tiffany Jewelry = iGems?

I like to think of myself as an expert when it comes to geek jewelry, mostly because I feel like I've seen it all. From Computer Key Rings, to Mike and Maaike's "Stolen Jewels," the market seems endless, but often lacking that truly chic luxury item mystique. The release of the iPhone makes all the iPod jewelry look like last season's rejects, so we decided to create a couple faux iPhone jewelry pieces for you to drool, joke and daydream about. I mean, people are willing to throw down $600 for a tiny wifi-enabled iPod/phone combo. Toss in some gems, platinum, gold and Tiffany & Co. and Apple-branding and these babies would sell like, well iPhones, am I right? I mean, it may be silly, but if it came in a little blue box...

Macgirl Explores Her New iPhone

The lines, media frenzy and general geekiness surrounding last Friday's iPhone launch were nothing less of awe-inspiring. I can honestly say I have never seen 1,000 people ogling a single gadget with such curiosity, adoration and desire. While I spent the day reporting from the Apple Store in downtown San Francisco, I asked any of you who were participating in the madness to share your stories as well. And, while not all of you were able to take the day off work to get your hands on the iPhone, geeksugar reader and resident Mac expert, macgirl was quick to share details of her whole day - from the line at the Apple Store in Newport Beach, Ca to her unboxing. Her photos compare the iPhone to her Treo and offer those of you that haven't had a chance to see it in person a brilliant sneak peek at the phone. She reports: "First let me start out by saying it is way neater than I could have ever imagined. The fact that you couldn't play with it ahead of time made it even better. I felt like Jack in Nightmare Before Christmas 'what's this??!??'" I couldn't agree more.

iPhone Day: Line Watch (Part II)

1:00 pm: The line at San Francisco's downtown Apple store has more than doubled since 9:45 this morning, with nearly 200 people beginning to bake in the midday sun. There's nothing spectacular to report, except for the fact that most people look bored and 6 pm seems weeks away. There's a giant sign on the front of the Apple Store saying it will be closed from 2 to 6 today so employees can "get ready." We're ready. Very ready.

The Wait Begins: iPhone Line In Downtown SF

San Francisco may be behind New York City when it comes to the iPhone launch queue, but the crowd has begun to assemble. At the very front of the line of downtown San Francisco's Apple Store is Jerry Taylor, who told us he has never stood in line for a gadget before. Taylor lives a couple blocks away and set up his blanket, chair and sidewalk desk this morning at 10 am. He said his friends were bringing him food later tonight and that he hopes to buy two iPhones tomorrow when they are released.

Second in line is David Young, an engineer at Slide, who said a bunch of his coworkers are joining him later (he's the guy in the Aviator glasses and black shirt). Third in line is Dale Larson, who is the director of mobile and internet marketing at Donordigital (he's wearing a blue colored shirt and black pants). Larson seems to be the manager of the line operation and is keeping a list of everyone's place. Fourth in line is a group of clowns from Peepshowminigolf.com that's been entertaining crowds with a small mini golf set up. Unlike 5th Avenue's Greg Parker, they all have their shirts on, but they promise they are going to "party San Francisco style" tonight.

New Mercury Free MacBook Pro Unboxed!

I got my hands on the new MacBook Pro first thing this morning and saying everyone around me is gushing and jealous is an understatement. Unlike last year's model, the new MacBook Pro has a mercury-free, power-efficient LED-backlit display. I am a little shocked to report that there seems to be a visible difference between the two displays, and it's not just due to the fact that my old laptop is covered in fingerprints and a bit of dust. The screen seems much brighter.

The new MacBook Pro's mercury-free status is a huge jump for Apple, who has been a consistent low ranker on Greenpeace's Electronics Guide and has taken some blows for not being as green as it can be. I'd write more, but I'm kinda busy obsessing over my new love.

Picture Perfect Tech: Homerun For Apple In Fever Pitch

Fever Pitch may not have stolen any bases from critics, but the 2005 film certainly wasn't lacking in the Mac love. The film features Drew Barrymore as a young woman that falls in love with a man, played by SNL alum Jimmy Fallon, who happens to be obsessed with the Boston Red Sox. She tries to work with him - even toting her PowerBook to Fenway Park and working in the stands.

Besides the fact that I think there's no place for laptops at the ball park - you need a hot dog, beer and one of those puffy hand pointers, am I right? - wifi at sports stadiums is a given these days. As a matter of fact, my dad has been trying to convert me to the world of being a Giants' fanatic by reminding me I can "be on my computer the whole game." Maybe Drew had the right idea... Fever Pitch Tech Glitch: The film incorrectly shows Lindsey's dash across the field on TV - she is shown from a handheld camera that must be "on" the field. There would be no such TV camera on the field during a game, only after the game has ended.
