This month's Vanity Fair features a rad cover story on modern comediennes like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Sarah Silverman, and Kristin Wiig. The photo shoot, snapped by legend Annie Leibovitz, has a few concepts: Greek goddesses, Hollywood trainwrecks, and jet-setting hot chicks. What I really appreciated was the prolific use of gadgets as props — iPhones, Blackberries, and MacBook Pros abound!

It's probably safe to say Annie Leibovitz doesn't use the iPhone camera for Vogue photo shoots. The iPhone's camera is incredibly basic and comes with plenty of flaws, but use it right and it can make you organized and on-the-ball.
If you're looking to use it for more than remembering where you parked and goofy pics, invest in a few inexpensive apps to improve its functionality and enhance your pics.

I'm never prouder than when an awesome photo I took gets a ton of views and comments on Flickr, and maybe (just maybe) a stranger subscribes to my photostream! It's a nice accomplishment for a part-time pic snapper like myself. I'm not saying I'm Annie Leibovitz in any way, but I've offered up an informative how-to or two of my own to help you take the best snapshots you can and work with what you've got.

Ever whip out your camera, line up your friends for a photo and suddenly realize you don't know where to stand with the camera? I have. When it comes to the direction of light, there are 360 degrees of possibilities, so when the natural or artificial light source isn't working for you, it's best to change it by moving your position, your subject's position, or the light itself.
