Virgin America's New Inflight WiFi and YouTube Live Event

OK, I promised you a full recap about my event-filled Saturday - the flight, the WiFi test drive, and the YouTube Live Event - and here it is! Testing out Virgin America's first WiFi enabled plane with Gogo Inflight Internet among other tech enthusiasts was a rush in itself, but heading to the first official YouTube Live event here in San Francisco was icing on the cake to a spectacular day. I'm Going to YouTube Live! And Getting WiFi on a Jet Plane . . .

I've got quite the geeky day planned, and I had to share my excitement with guys! First, I'm packing my bags and heading to San Francisco International Airport to board a Virgin America plane - I'm not really going anywhere, per se, but the short flight will be showing off GoGo's new in-flight WiFi! Then afterward, drum roll please - I am hitting up the YouTube Live event!

At SFO, I'll board a Virgin Airlines plane - already my fave airline for its awesome techy features - and test out the in-flight Wifi on a special beta flight.

Afterward, it's off the to the YouTube Live Event, to celebrate YouTube's new webcasting feature, where I'll hopefully rub elbows with Will.i.am and Katy Perry, to name a few! Stay tuned for my recap on how it all turns out!

YouTube Takes the Plunge Into Live Webcasting

Some days (when I have time), I'll get a pretty great ab workout from all the laughs I find on YouTube. Some of my friends think it's the best invention since Cheetos - and it looks like they're about to get even better. Not only is YouTube calling itself the "world's largest video discovery platform", but it's also dipping its toes into the pool of live webcasting; starting with their inaugural YouTube Live event taking place here in San Francisco on November 22.

The huge two hour webcast will host YouTube vets Katy Perry, Will.i.Am, Esmee Denters, along with performances by other well known YouTube users. Does the name Tay Zonday ring any bells? I thought so. But I'm betting the highlight of the evening will be going down at the post-show party somewhere around the Guitar Hero kiosks. Musicians and geeks in one room? You know there will be some serious shredding taking place!

Would You Watch Broadcast TV on Your Cell Phone?

Local TV stations may soon have the ability to broadcast live TV straight to your cell phone. Unlike YouTube, the service won't be on-demand. Instead, you'll be able to tune into live local television on your phone while stations will be able to offer both free and paid channels. Obviously, the technology won't work on existing mobile phones, but LG, Samsung, and Dell have already released prototype devices. And it's about time - this technology is already a huge hit in Japan!

With services like DVR and TV on-demand changing, this technology might breathe new life into broadcast TV. Would you buy a new gadget and use this service?

The Latest Windows Live Movie Maker Has Arrived

Listen up Windows Vista and Windows 7 owners, Microsoft has just released its latest version of Windows Live Movie Maker, so you can get your movie video editing on. With the functionality to render a 1080p widescreen video, add transitions, and rearrange the order of slides, the new version is worth taking a look at. Once your video is finished, you have the ability to send it to YouTube, save to your hard drive, or burn to a DVD - directly from the software. Now I'm an Apple iMovie gal myself, but by the sounds of it, Live Movie Maker is pretty similar. I'd love to hear feedback from someone who has used both.

In days of yore my friends and I would gather to watch Friends live on TV, but my how our habits have changed! Earlier this week I found myself live blogging on Twitter through The Bachelorette finale. Halfway through the two hour extravaganza of cheese and romance I realized I was enjoying playing on Twitter and my friends' comebacks and witty comments far more than the actual program. I wasn't just watching guilty pleasure TV, I was being entertained by my gal pals online.

While I keep up with my favorite shows on my DVR, and sneak in paperbacks whenever I can, I live online - from YouTube, iTunes, Hulu, Facebook to random hilarious videos. It's my chief source of entertainment and giggles. Do you find yourself using your computer as your main distraction outlet, or do you use your TV or traditional media more?

SNL to Get Its Own Video Website!

I love my video websites like YouTube, Vimio, and Hulu, and even though it's fun to watch hilarious viral videos, they're indispensable for TV clips; before when you forgot to watch or DVR something, you just missed it. The end. But the rise of websites with clips on them ensures you're never out of the loop; can you imagine living in a world where you missed "D*ck in a Box"?

I can't, and it seems that Saturday Night Live doesn't want you to ever imagine such a fate - the legendary show is launching its own website!

My crush Seth Meyers slipped the news recently, and I think it makes so much sense. Say goodbye to scouring Hulu, YouTube and NBC.com for the skits you want to show your friends, because now you'll have a one-stop shop. You know what else you can say goodbye to? Many, many hours of your time. Hello, classic Chris Farley!

Did You Watch Convention Speeches on the Internet?

What's so interesting about John McCain's speech at the Republican National Convention bringing in slightly more viewers than Barack Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention to geeksugar? It's interesting because this election has involved the Internet in an inextricable fashion - so much so that this data, the viewing habits of live broadcast television only, could be kinda skewed.

What I'm getting at is that I know a lot of people who didn't tune in to their regular broadcast to watch either speech, and instead watched videos of the speeches online. In fact, since the Internet is where I, and many others, have been getting their election coverage, it makes sense that you wouldn't turn on the TV to watch a speech, confident that they would make it on YouTube (like most important things these days).

So tell me, if you watched any of the convention speeches, did you watch them online?
