Cell Phone Inspired By A Fruit Tray, Looks Chic

We've seen a lot of wacky concepts, but Timo Wong's CELLS phone deserves special recognition for its unusual inspiration and tactile body. The design of the phone looks a lot like the contours of a typical fruit tray and the number keys are separated by alternating contours on one single surface. It reminds me of a quilted Marc Jacobs bag, so naturally, I love it.

iRing Bluetooth Connectivity Would Control i-Devices

The real question is, who doesn't wish they could control their iPod or iPhone with a tiny ring? When I came up with the idea for iGems I never considered how great it would be if the jewelry actually manipulated my Apple devices. Of course, I'm not a designer like Victor Soto, who came up with the stylish design for the iRing.

The iRing allows you to control playback and volume on any of your Apple media devices and features a bright OLED status display with touch-sensitive function strip, and a rechargeable battery life of up to 2 days. It's just a concept, but I love it.

Bendy 'Lobster' Multimedia Concept Snaps Around Arm

Every time I strap an MP3 player around my arm I get agitated by how tight and clunky it feels - whether it's a nano, mini or regular sized iPod. The Lobster multimedia player concept designed by Danilo Mangini serves to break up that bulky player syndrome in many different ways. It's made up of an LCD screen that acts as a base for a multitude of media modules. When you snap those small modules on, you extend the Lobster’s features and create a bendable arm band that's multi-functional and malleable. I love the idea of being able to make a player smaller by taking away video or storage capacity when I work out and still be able to add other functions back on later when I need them. It's just a concept, but here's hoping this one makes it onto the market!

Most 360 cameras are goofy looking at best, but the Panoramic Digital Camera concept offers a stylish take on a device few companies have mastered. When you fit the device on a level surface, angle it and push a button you can watch it spin to take the perfect 360-degree view of your surroundings. It saves your content on a memory card and can take video. Ahhh, if only I could get my mittens on one.

Concept Player Makes Use Of Your MP3s And CDs

Just when I thought CDs had gone the way of the Dodo, I learn that designer Yong-Seong Kim has come up with the DMP, a portable music player that supports CD and MP3 files.

You can use the MP3 player normally, or unclip the sides and insert your favorite CD. I like the idea because it might encourage me to whip out my classic early 90s CD collection and the fact that the CD is exposed while playing gives it a bit of a retro, record player appeal.

Shower Friendly MP3 Player

You might not be able to sing in the rain with this concept design by Hae Lim, but you can sing in the shower! The mp3 player is specifically designed for wear and tear in water as it conveniently docks on your shower head to play music. Just detach it from the head/speaker to change songs with the control buttons and in no time you'll be rocking out to your favorite band and lathering up as well! The fun red and white shower accessory most likely holds a removable flash media card to store songs. Stay tuned for further revelations!

I think we can all agree that aesthetically pleasing printers are few and far between. Of course, we buy printers to, well, print - so most of us don't take note of what the machines look like so long as they are dependable, not too clunky, easy to use and within our price range. The Space For You printer concept hopes to combine space conscious design with clean lines and functionality. Of course, it's just an added bonus that you will no longer have to put your printer on the "printer table" because it will be built in. Would you buy it?

Camera That Morphs Into Picture Frame

I can think of no logical reason why anyone would truly need the Samsung SS700 concept designed by Jin Woo Han, but I must give the designer credit for combining the joy of a digital camera's screen with clever image display. The device allows you to both take pictures and showcase them in a camera-frame combo. There aren’t any buttons or menu settings, you just shoot and then display your photos by opening up the camera's built-in kick stand.

Trend: Reusing Your New Electronics' Packaging

We've seen the Repackaged Laptop Case, which turns the cardboard casing your computer ships into a laptop protector, and the alarm clock made from its own packaging, but the TV stand made from its own packaging takes the trend to a slightly more decorative place. Designed by Tom Ballhatchet, the concept turns television packaging into a playful TV stand once you get home. This model was made from expanded polypropylene which can be molded in virtually any color and with any surface texture. Personally, I think the idea beats inexpensive and clunky TV stands and dealing with the recycling huge boxes. That is, unless you're like me and like to make forts out of them.

Vibrating Alarm Ring: Wake Up Without Sound

Designed by Meng Fandi, the Ring is a vibrating alarm made for people who don't like the loud blaring sounds of a typical alarm (isn't that everyone?). You set the Ring alarm set up via its charging cradle and fit the Ring over the tip of your finger. When it's your chosen time the Ring vibrates until it is put back on the dock.

While it's only a concept at this point, the idea seems faultless when it comes to couples waking up at different times and for those of us who have grown to hate the sound of our alarm clocks. I initially wondered whether the Ring would zap your partner in the night if you tried to cuddle, but apparently, the vibration is "discrete" so you won't feel like you're being electrocuted. It would also work well for hearing impaired persons.

Visually Stimulating Energy Saving Adapters

Saving energy never looked so good! Discovered on Yanko Design, these sleek white Energy Saving Adapters by designer Giles Belley are said to reduce the energy consumption of electronics left in standby mode in half. Each module corresponds to a device and when energy is being wasted, a layer of light will glow on the surface of the adapter. This light is intended to warn the user that unnecessary energy is being used and that they should turn off the device. If it does not get turned off, the adapter will automatically shut it down after three minutes. An ingenious design, but somewhat worrisome for a person like me who leaves unsaved work open while my laptop is asleep and prays it doesn't shut down!

Luggage For Style Conscious Pocket Lovers

The Jibo was designed to fit everyone's personal style. How you wonder? The exterior can be changed to match your outfit, so you can mix and match with knitted fabrics, leather and different textured fabric. Inside, you can organize your belongings in compartmentalized boxes that stack on top of the main unit and can be taken out and used as drawers/storage shelves while you are away from home. The design is just a concept right now, but something tells me the compartments would be perfect for the wireless charging pad, which is set to be released this week. Jam Out With The Electro Belt

We've all seen the funky TuneBuckle, which allows you to fit your iPod into your belt buckle, but what will the future hold when it comes to MP3 Player belt accessories?

If designer Kristian Paljasma has her way the Electro Belt will be the next big thing in geek gear.

It’s a belt with an MP3 player built into the buckle. You keep it charged and synced via USB. Of course, the belt itself can be customized with different face plates that illuminate while you’re listening to your tunes.

While I can't see this being an overwhelming hit with your average geeky girl, I do envision young men, skateboarders and snowboarders would love a device that combines a little flash, with all the function of an MP3 Player, particularly if it can sync with the solar panel jacket or io-Jacket, which has built in mobile-phone and GPS. I mean, once you have one piece, you're going to want the whole outfit, right?

Seesaw Mobile Phone: Slim And Chic

The cardboard thin Seesaw Mobile Phone designed by Karsten Willmann offers soft keys and a small Seesaw-like lever in the center-back, which hides the phone's camera and flashlight.

At this point, the phone is merely a concept, but its tiny size and the fact that it folds into an even smaller flip phone makes me think it would be a tremendous hit with users.

Closer Look: Webble Foot Rest

Last week I gave you a little teaser of the Webble, which is a new kind of foot rest that isn't about resting at all. I finally found some more photos and learned that unlike most foot rests that are designed to create a more ergonomic desk set up, the Webble is all about motion and activity and hopes to keep even the most anxious geeks entertained and on the move while at their desks.

According to the designer's website, the Weeble's ultra smooth gliding motion gets your legs moving while you work. "Departing from the static, almost orthopedic aesthetic of so many foot rests, the Webble’s iconic shape invites a smile and encourages your feet to go for a ride." They even added a patent pending spring suspension and self-braking mechanism that will make you feel like Tony Hawk at your desk. The patent is still pending on this one, but I can't can't wait for it to hit the market.

Shoulder Bag Ghetto Blaster

The very sight of a ghetto blaster, particularly a Dually Talented Human Ghetto Blaster, is enough to warm my heart and throw me into a retro glee coma, but the sight of the Shoulder Bag Ghetto Blaster has me thinking about long walks I can take around the Bay Area to show off my geek chic gear. Though it's just a concept at this point, the head of the blaster purse provides space for a large bass speaker, and the long narrow end of the horn-like shape serves as a bass reflex tube. You can wear it on your hip - although that might put you in dangerous gadget holster territory - or around your shoulder like a bookbag.

Cool Concept: Nikon 360 Degrees Digital Camera

Yesterday a bunch of you admitted you love playing around with fun and funky cameras like the colored Lomolitos cameras and the hilarious fisheye lens camera, so when I saw the concept for the Nikon 360 Degrees Digital Camera I knew I wouldn't be the only excited photographer around here. The idea is the camera can take an "unbroken view of an entire surrounding area," (ie panoramic shots).

With most cameras, getting a real panoramic shot means turning 360 degrees, to receive an unbroken view. Based on an ergonomic cylindrical form lens, the Nikon 360 allows you take an all-round picture. It has an angle indicator that provides a gauge on the direction of the rotating head and is also an additional detail to provide the camera with a stronger and steadier feel while in operation. What do you think of the idea?
