In case you missed it, President Obama spoke directly to school children last week, asking them to stay in school and study up for the future. I thought the speech was inspiring, but he did kind of diss my beloved video games. Obama asked the youth of America to not "spend every waking hour in front of the TV or with the Xbox." This could be sound advice, except for the fact that there are plenty of brain-challenging games out there to improve your coordination, smarts, and problem-solving skills. Everything in moderation, people! Check out a few of my favorites here.

Hollywood Gets A Sneak Peek Of Halo 3

Hollywood Halo fans like Napoleon Dynamite's Jon Heder, Geoffrey Rush, Aisha Tyler, Dane Cook and Brody Jenner showed up at red carpet sneak peek event for Halo 3 for Xbox 360 this week and got a chance to test out the much-anticipated game. Just like the previous Halo games, Halo 3 is a first-person shooter game. Apparently in this edition Master Chief is back on a thoroughly conquered and Covenant controlled Earth.

The game won't be out until Sep 25, but it is rumored to be the last in the Halo series (the developers made an unofficial announcement) so there is all kinds of buzz about whether or not it will beat out the success of the previous editions. Right now "non-celebrity" beta testers are having a go with the multi-player component of the game. If you can't wait any longer you can pre-order it online.

Gene Simmons Promotes Guitar Hero II for Xbox 360

Gene Simmons from the popular band KISS, was out in full force in NYC to help launch "Guitar Hero 2" for Xbox 360. Guitar Hero experts were invited to perform in the Virgin Megastore, as the best hero would be awarded with an autographed guitar and the chance to play with Simmons. Everyone is excited about the debut of Guitar Hero II for Xbox because it's an upgrade from the PS2 version with way more content. Rock on!
