As geeky as I am, every once in a blue moon I tend to break away from my MacBook as I feel the need to get crafty. If Origami sounds a bit too daunting, but you find yourself in a DIY mood with extra time, I suggest checking out PaperBird at Mckbillio.com.

All it takes to make the aviaries is a pair of scissors and some glue. Free to download, these little guys look great perched around your house and are fun to make on a rainy afternoon like yesterday, when I was cooped up in my apartment trying to stay dry. Here's a bonus if you're an artist: Mckbillio is looking for submissions for new ideas for the next little birdie to make its way to the website. Check out the gallery of homemade birds below. Yes, I did in fact make all four. What? I couldn't decide which one I wanted on my desk!

Website Of The Day: Crusher

It's quite simple really: Crusher is the new Evite.

We can't all take the time to create 25+ decadent handmade invites the way PartySugar does, so some of us have to take the techie route (although I'll admit it, PartySugar's invites are always nicer than mine!)

If you've used Evite you know it's a pretty straightforward set up. You make a blanket invite, invite friends via their e-mail addresses and let people RSVP, make comments and see who else is coming via your online invitation. The site is all good and dandy, but not without some bugs and a small army of distracting ads.

Crusher (the url is actually Crush3r.com) is a simple, toned down version of Evite sans the ads. It was created by an independent group of designer/developers in the Bay area. "We're simply trying to do things better than the bigger monkeys, and the big gorilla," says the team. Crusher allows you to send invites to your events and events you go to so your friends will always be in the loop. You can request that your friends RSVP or simply invite people to your page. Your guests aren't required to sign up.

My favorite feature, which is lacking on most of the invite community sites, is the fact that there is a "best date" feature that allows you to find out which calendar dates your friends prefer before deciding when to have the big day. It's simple and genius. Customize your page, or use their simple templates like the ones below.

Website Of The Day: Jealous Computers

Last week I had to give props to Waitless, Sprint's diverting viral marketing site that promises to help you "fast forward through life" with a selection of time saving tips submitted by readers. This week I take my headband off for Nokia, via the Jealous Computers website.

The site features an array of "shocking footage," video testimony and images of people who have suffered the wrath of jealous computers, such as the girl (in picture at right), whose "picture was taken five days after a PC keyboard slapped the victim in the face."

Why all the jealousy? According to the faux Healthy Computing Volunteer Group it's the Nokia Nseries range of multimedia computers. "The use of advanced Nokia technology in combination with slogans like 'It's what computers have become' is obviously upsetting a wide range of 'old school' computers," says the site.

Website of the Day: someecards

I have a tendency to be a bit of a jokester, so when I saw this site on Notcot, I was instantly hooked. Someecards is a hilarious site with wacky, cheeky e-cards about friendship, flirting, holidays, birthdays, thanks and more. Forewarning some of the cards are, how shall I say this, "explicit" in nature? But as far as I'm concerned this is what makes them downright wrong and sooo right! The site has been created by Brook Lundy and Duncan Mitchell, and is designed by Jerry Tamburro. Oh and did I forget to mention that all the cards are free?

I can't help but sing the song "five little monkeys jumping on the bed" when I look at these pictures! You've got to check out the site bed jump.com where people have submitted pictures of themselves jumpin' on beds in various hotels across the globe. The fabulous site includes a little blurb with each image, including the name of the hotel where the "jumping incident" occurred and some info about the skilled and dexterous jumpers. Featured on Trendhunter this website also boasts alot of great travel info including travel guides and top 10 hotel lists. Trust me, after looking at the picture gallery, that little kid in you will want to strike a few bed jumping poses...soo much fun!
