WTF Stamp Leaves Little to the Imagination

Since the inception of texting and IM'g, WTF has been a universal acronym that gets regularly used in chats, between cell phones and computers. Because it easily rolls off the tongue, or computer keys a tad too quickly, I find myself dropping the WTF bomb a tad too much - yes dad, you're right, it does "cheapen" me. Nonetheless, when you can't find the strength from within to conger up the confidence to say WTF to someone's face, I suggest investing in one of these WTF stamps. . . which will surely save you embarrassing face-time with your co-worker.

Unfortunately I don't know where you can buy one (my Spanish is pretty rusty), or how much they cost, but at least we know they do exist, so we're halfway there. Thanks for adding this to our geek gear list TeamSugar user eruntale!

iPod Burns Through Man's Pants

A man that works at a kiosk at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport got a hot surprise this week and it wasn't an unexpected cup of coffee.

Danny Williams was going about his day when he looked down and saw flames coming up from his pants' pocket to his chest. What was it you wonder? His burning iPod.

According to a local news station, Williams had an iPod Nano and a glossy piece of paper in his pocket when it caught on fire. Williams believes the paper saved his leg from being burned. He said:

"I'm still kind of freaked out that after only a year and a half my iPod caught fire in my pocket," said Williams. "If TSA had come by and seen me smoking, they could have honestly thought I was a terrorist."

Williams has apparently sent his iPod to Apple, which has said they will replace it. No word on whether or not Apple will replace his pants.

Lederhosen With Integrated iPod Controls

I can fully understand the need for geek apparel like the Zegna Bluetooth iJacket, which uses Bluetooth technology that can be used for mobile phone conversations and has iPod and MP3 player controls sewn into the sleeves and collar. I can't really understand the need for items like this Lederhosen, which has integrated iPod controls.

The Lederhosen are made by Lodenfrey a traditional wear company that's been around since 1842, which prompts the question: Why do we have to integrate "technology" into things that really don't need it? In case you don't remember, Lederhosen are traditional cropped pants worn by peasants in Germany and surrounding countries. They are often made of elk, goat, calf, or pig hide and embroidered with monograms and designs. Does that sound like the kind of thing that needs iPod control? I think not.

iPod thieves have been making headlines since the device was released. From news reports and tips on how to keep your pod safe, to Dateline specials on how to catch thieves, there really is no end to the iHysteria. So how do you protect your beloved pod? The $49 iPod Anti-Theft Case for the iPod 5th Generation and iPod Nano claims it will keep your pod safe and sound. It's essentially a combination lock connected to a steel cable, but if wrapped around a larger secured object your little baby should be safe. I give them brownie points for a sleek case - not so sure if it's necessary.

Smoking Ban Creates 'Smexting' Phenomenon

Being a smoker can be alienating. Sure, there are designated areas where like-minded puffers can gab, but for the most part smokers are banished to outside patios where they are left to smoke solo. According to the UK's Daily Mail, a record number of text messages have been sent by smokers trying to pass the time while alone in smoking areas. Here's more:

In the two weeks after the ban on smoking in confined spaces came into force on 1 July, mobile phone company Orange said 7.5 million more texts than normal were sent across its network. Experts have now dubbed the phenomenon 'smexting.'

Figures released with the same study found Britons sent 519.5 million text messages in the first two weeks of last month, compared with 512 million in the last two weeks of June, before the ban had been instated. And I ask with all honesty: Are they serious?

Solar Bikini And Intimate Gaming Bra Return

The itsy bitty, teeny weeny solar-powered bikini and the Intimate Game Controllers are making their way back to the geekosphere this week, showing up at Siggraph 2007's Unravel fashion show. The Solar Bikini uses solar power to charge small gadgets like your cell or iPod, while the Intimate Game Controllers are an oh-so-geeky (but also sexy!) platform where controllers are built into undergarments so that players have to physically touch one another to play.

Despite what you might think, the Intimate Controller was built by a male and female duo, while the a bikini was created by a male. Bikinis, video games and solar power are some of my favorite things, I can't say I'm attracted to either of these devices.

Who The, What The: Super Mario On The iPhone?!

I am not going to deny the fact that there are a lot of exciting tools on the iPhone, but I must admit, it's announcements like this that make me thank my lucky stars that I have a shiny and new iPhone. Brace yourselves: word on the net is that there is a new Nintendo Entertainment System emulator application on Google Code that comes with games like Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda. The emulator has a few glitches and requires several software hacks to work so use it at your own risk. Forewarning: The games don't have sound and they run really slow. Asthma Pod: Why This 'Pod' Craze Has Gone Too Far

We already knew the "i" craze had passed the point of no return, but it looks like "pod" mania may be gaining speed in the race.

Yesterday I learned about the Apod, or Asthma Pod, which is a colorful plastic case that clips around your standard asthma inhaler. They cost about $20 (or £10 because it's a British company) and come in 7 colors. So why am I so bent out of shape? For the most part the devices are cute, brightly hued plastic that will hopefully make asthmatic children everywhere feel better about their illness, however, the name alone makes me worry and wonder about the day the "pod" epidemic will end.

From the Laserpod, "pod" Hotels to EnergyPods for midday napping, there really is no logic to the over usage of the word "pod," which sprang to popularity with the lionization of the iPod. Will three out of five plastic items that are shaped like a bean or iPod be labeled "i-something" or "pod" from here until eternity? Will we wake up one morning and find out "pods" are suddenly as uncool as Walkmans? Most importantly, when will it end?

Mr. Tengu: Robot-like Desk Accessory Gets Moody

There really is no end to the USB gadget universe. Case in point: "Jones's Mr. Tengu," a USB character that Solid Alliance devised with London designer Crispin Jones. When you connect Mr. Tengu to the USB port of a computer a red LED "face" appears and reacts to the sound around the room. As sounds change, so do Mr. Tengu's faces. Make him mad and you've got a grumpy, robotic USB on your hands. I wonder what happens when you play Rihanna?
