If you've been obsessed with watching the Old Spice guy on YouTube as he pumps out the personal video messages to his followers, then you'll be just as excited as I was to find out this bit of news: there is now an Old Spice Voicemail Generator. How this came about is actually pretty hilarious - a Reddit user requested that the Old Spice guy lend his voice to make a custom voicemail message. He answered on YouTube. Cycling legend Lance Armstrong is having a busy week. He crashed during stage five of the Tour of California and also defended himself against allegations of drug use during the Tour de France. On a bit more optimistic note, Lance's new commercials for Radio Shack - the cycling team he rides for - came out this week. In the spots, Lance gives some lessons on cell phone etiquette, which include: "No man over the age of 30 will ever use emoticons - no colon parentheses smiley faces . . ."

Verizon Gets a Visual Voice Mail Application

Alright, I'll admit it, my BlackBerry is cool, but its voicemail isn't nearly as cool as the iPhone's. Well Verizon has just launched a Visual Voice Mail application that offers similar features to what the iPhone has. Currently available for the LG Voyager Refresh, it will soon be supported on the BlackBerry. The application will allow users to view caller- and voicemail info. With Visual Voice Mail, you'll also be able to listen to voicemail messages in any order and easily erase or archive directly from your screen!

File this under Sigh: An 80-year-old man whose wife died in 2005 has been calling her number every day since, just to hear her say her name on his voice mail recording. I'm in a virtual puddle over here.

Anyway, after a while, the carrier, Verizon, upgraded the service and it was lost - but don't worry, they got wind of it and restored the message for the man. He says, very simply, “I’m glad they rescued it. . . I’m very happy.”

Ah, George Costanza. He was a different breed. Behold, the video below: George screens his messages while watching TV, and grooves to a sweet little ditty he recorded himself for when he was out - listen to it and try not to get his "Believe It or Not" stuck in your head. Meanwhile, I have to claim guilt for recording some silly voicemail message, but uh, back in the day, of course! My messages are so boring now. But have you ever recorded a funny voicemail message? ABC Moves Online with "Voicemail"

Online-only series seem to be all the rage for TV networks these days, and ABC is the latest to jump into the ring with "Voicemail." The series consists of short episodes - most just a minute long - based on messages left for Mike, a twentysomething living your standard slacker-dude life. It's sort of a live-action version of Amy's Answering Machine, inspired by a decade of voicemails saved by creator Michael Wilde.

In the six episodes posted so far, we've seen Mike forget to pick up his grandma at the airport, get beaten up by a girl playing football, and dig through the dumpster to find the discarded dream-interpretation book in which a female friend (girlfriend?) has tucked surprise concert tickets. Yeah, the whole twentysomething-burnout premise is a little played out at this point, but a few of the episodes are pretty funny, and because they're so short, it's easy to get hooked.
