Vintage Video Maker App Does Exactly What It Implies

All things old are new again as vintage gadgets and tech come back with a bang. Since you can already turn your iPhone photos into cool vintage-looking pics in more than a few ways, it's only natural that there would eventually be an iPhone 3GS app that turns your on-the-go videos into retro styled mini movies.

Called the Vintage Video Maker, this $3 app is worth its weight in fun - just capture your video within the app, or load one up that you've already shot, and choose between three old-timey styles: 20's movie, black and white, and 60's home video. You can also add sound effects like a running projector or loop an old piano to play over your 20's themed vid.

Hey geeks, do you ever spot something like those vintage typewriters I randomly came across, and want to be able to show everyone? The Vintage Geek Group is at your service, and we're eagerly waiting for you to submit some cool old ad or gadget. Our vintage-geek superstar tdamj has submitted some amazing vintage ads - this hilarious one for an old Atari game and this Japanese masterpiece for Zelda.

So when you find cool vintage stuff like this ad for Penril Modems from lord knows when (well, 'when' was apparently a time of sort-of innocence - they had to minimize the word 'sexy'! Tee hee!), join the Vintage Geek Group and submit it! I know one of you has an awesome screen grab of Zach Morris's brick-phone and are just dying to share it.

I've been getting really giddy lately when I watch movies I've grown up with, and see the old technology that was hot at that time. I highlighted old Apple IIs and some goofy faux gadgets from Back to the Future 2, Doogie Howser's geeky 80's blogging, and some fabulous old ads. I am even pretty sure I saw my current crush Paul Rudd's Nintendo commercial when it originally aired!

So join my Vintage Geek group and add your vintage movie and TV clips, funny ads, or gadgets so old they're artifacts and you might get featured on the geeksugar home page!

I love vintage geek gadgets almost as much as I love my brand new tech goodies. From typewriters to Polaroid cameras, these retro goodies are as stunning as they once were useful. My laptop is great and I appreciate it completely, but there is something so dreamy and romantic about typing on an old-fashioned typewriter. Polaroid's Triumphant Battle Back From Extinction

I couldn't be happier to know that there will be another chance to pick up a Polaroid One Step and a packet of instant film next year. After Polaroid announced that the instant film camera would be put out to pasture back in 2008, there was an uprising of epic proportions - fans did not want to let go of the beloved medium. In a digital world, there's something comforting about capturing the moment with such a low tech and vintage device. Boombox iPod/iPhone Skin: Love It or Leave It?

I can't help but gravitate toward vintage gadgets (I am the founding member of the Vintage Geek group, you know), so mash-ups of old and new stuff is something I'm totally into.

This particular skin from Gelaskin ($15) tugged at my heartstrings, mostly because it reminded me of my first boombox that I carried around with me to sleepovers, my backyard, and even a few times to school (my teachers were not pleased with that last location).

I'm kinda digging this skin for my iPhone, but I'm not sure I could handle it taking up permanent residence there. What do you think?
