As you may have heard me say before, the iPhone can do pretty much everything under the sun except open a bottle of champagne thanks to its amazing apps — except use its 3G goodness to make calls from Skype, that is. You could use any open WiFi signal to dial up your pals for free over the Internet, but Apple drew the line at you hopping on its 3G signals to use voice over IP.
After much grumbling from the geek population (including a few gripes from yours truly), Apple has finally allowed 3G voice over Internet calling, which includes using your free Skype App.

You're already familiar with Skype —the service that lets you make calls over the Internet for free — so this little gadget is a total no-brainer.
The ooma Core VoIP Phone System ($249) is a hub that allows you to use voice-over-Internet calling like a home phone — without all the monthly charges (except what you would pay for your Internet access, of course). Just hook up your ooma phone to your modem and you'll be up and running in minutes.

If you're hooked on using Jajah, a VOIP service that gives you lower long-distance rates, you can now get easy access to it directly from your iPhone. When you point your Safari browser to iphone.jajah.com, you can type in the number you want to call or select the name in your Jajah contacts. Jajah will then call your phone, you pick up, and then you will be connected to the desired international number.

I've saved hundreds of dollars using the long distance VoIP service Jajah to call friends in the UK and Africa. But, even as great as Jajah is, there are oftentimes when I'm away from my computer to make calls via my cell or can't decide on times for scheduled calls. Luckily, Jajah has introduced Jajh Mobile so you can make calls without logging onto a computer.
