Love It or Leave It? Ultra Stylish USB Bag

Here's a USB flash drive that I surprisingly haven't seen before. Russian designer Dima Komissarov has created these fashionable USB sticks that can store all your pictures and documents - while taking the shape of a teeny handbag at the same time. What's unique about these bags is the fact that they will slowly inflate as you add more data, so you know just how much memory is left. Another one of those "see it to believe it" inventions. What are your thoughts? Is this just another unusual and wacky USB design or is it something you could really use?

Laptop Essentials Kit Keeps You Working Wherever You Are

Although I'm hoping that my Summer travels are more for the purpose of pleasure than business, I can appreciate this Laptop Essentials Kit ($45) for either situation. The good news is, Sharper Image is thinking ahead (no, they aren't totally dead), and have made all the contents of this kit ultra portable - both mini sized, and with retractable cables for clean and easy storage.

Coming stocked with a mouse, a number keypad, USB cable, ethernet cable, iPod Cable, USB adaptor with four USB ports, and earbuds (as well as a few other goodies), the kit should be easy to toss in your laptop bag since all the contents come in a nice and neat leather case. Business travel just got so much easier!

Testing 1, 2, 3: The Flip UltraHD Review

To help capture some Memorial Day weekend festivities, I took the latest camcorder from Pure Digital Technologies - the Flip UltraHD - out for a test drive. Since the first Flip was announced in 2006, these simple-yet-sophisticated cams have not only been the video camera of choice among celebrities, but the general public has fallen in love with them as well (with sales skyrocketing after Oprah sang its praises).

Why is the UltraHD getting so much attention? Unlike its predecessor, the MinoHD that also records video in high-def, the UltraHD ($200) can capture up to 120 minutes of HD video footage with its 8GB of built-in memory - unlike the MinoHD, which is priced at $230 and only holds up to 60 minutes of video. The UltraHD also comes with a bigger, brighter antiglare LCD screen and an HDMI connector output.

Flip features I love that come with the UltraHD? Well there's the flip out USB arm that makes it easy to upload videos and charge your camera (the UltraHD comes with two rechargeable AA batteries) and the fact that you can practically start recording as soon as you power it on (for those "grab the camera!" moments). I also love that it effortlessly works with so many different video applications including iTunes, QuickTime, and Windows Media Player - making it less of a headache to access your clips.

The Flip UltraHD is noticeably larger than the MinoHD but with its rubbery exterior and the fact that it can go in your purse or beach bag like any other camera or cell phone - the size wasn't really a thumbs down for me. I've uploaded my footage in HD through Vimeo.com so you can get an accurate idea of how clear the picture is (especially after being uploaded online), but if I connect it to my HDTV with a HDMI cable, it's so crisp, you'd be shocked that my video was recorded from a tiny $200 camera.

My sister who just had a baby (and isn't as nearly as techie as me) purchased one to capture all her little one's firsts, and she's already sent me a few videos with remarks on how much she loves her new cam. Overall, it's affordable, takes stellar video footage, and is extremely easy to use.

Juicy Couture USB Stick Keychain: Love It or Leave It?

I don't always love all the Juicy Couture things I see (the Pink Mouse and Mousepad Set, or the Velour Laptop Sleeve, anyone?), but I do appreciate that they make a valid effort to make tech accessories and peripherals.

This USB Stick Keychain is arguably the Juiciest, brand-wise, considering the heart shape, pink color, and ubiquitous "Choose Juicy" message. But I have to give it to them - this is something I would carry around, since I'm always concerned about losing (or having to root around in my bag for) the flash drive I try to keep on me. Being on a keychain would eliminate that problem, and the overtly girliness of it doesn't completely deter me because of its usefulness.

However, it is only 1GB and not exactly market price - $65 - for a flash drive that size. I'm not sure I'd buy it, but I'd enjoy it if I had it.

Can the PoGo Take the Place of My Polaroid Instant Camera?

Since we last spoke about the Polaroid Instant Camera, I was buying up an obscene amount of film in preparation for the Polaroid apocalypse. As you know, after January 2009, there won't be any more instant film produced - and I couldn't be more depressed about it. But in an attempt to appease the instant-film lovers out there, Polaroid has taken things to the next level and has produced the PoGo - a portable printer that lets you print photos wirelessly from your cellphone (via Bluetooth) or from your digital camera (via USB).

As much as I appreciate the effort, I am still skeptical that the PoGo can fully live up to the love for the Instant Camera. However, I'm willing to give it a try. I recently came across the PoGo at Target (as you can see I spend way too much time there). To see my first impressions of the PoGo, just read more.

Although I wasn't able to test it out myself, the PoGo is amazingly small. It's about the size of a deck of cards, and could easily be tossed in my bag when I'm on the go. The PoGo prints out borderless 2-x-3-inch photos in a matter of seconds, and as far as I can tell from recent reviews, seems to have pretty good print quality for a device of its size. Although at $150, I could buy a new laptop bag, or a great desktop printer for the same price. And even though the PoGo is not compatible with my iPhone, I could still print wirelessly from my Blackberry. The jury is still out for me, but would you consider picking up a PoGo?

Spruce Up Your Nerd Den With the Illuminating Coffee Table

I am totally falling in love with Suck UK's geeky-chic goods. Not only can they supply me with an old-school Mixed Tape USB Set that I can slip in my BF's bag to show him some love, but they can make me the queen of my castle with this totally hot Union Jack illuminated coffee table. I am seriously jonesing this thing.

But don't think it won't cost you a pretty penny - this baby comes in at around $4,000 bucks. And if flags aren't your thing, you can order your table minus the Union Jack top. I don't know what is geekier: an independently controlled coffee table with a built-in power connection, or me, who gets all excited over the idea of having lights underneath my furniture and on my clothes. It's probably the latter.

Project Runway's Chloe Dao has created an amazing line of inexpensive and funky laptop bags for Pacific Designs. After writing about them a few weeks ago, I ordered one for my sister and was delighted to find that despite the inexpensive price tag (they are about $30), the bags are durable, chic and cute. Check out Dao's versatile cases for iPhones, iPods, popular phones (like RAZRs) and portable DVD cases as well.
Seattle-based jewelry designer Sally Brock has created a great, geek-inspired Fancy line, which features amazing Binary Bands encrusted with gems. They offer a fun and colorful kick to the normally anesthetic-looking binary bands and can be customized as wedding bands or more simple fun pieces. They cost $200 and up.
The Tetran is a small, colorful cable winder for your iPod or MP3 player's earbud headphones that reminds me of a bathtub toy combined with PacMan character. You can wind your cable around Tetran's body and use its mouth as a holder for your earbuds. It will keep your purse organized and inspired comments from everyone who sees it. Tetran costs $12.95.
Samsung has released two new MP3 players, YP-P2 and YP-T10, which each boast built-in Bluetooth 2.0 capability and can offer wireless listening whether connecting to Bluetooth 2.0 headphones or speakers. I was intrigued by the design, which is decidedly un-iPod and definitely something all you PC users might want to check out. Out this month. Pricing still unknown.
