Somewhere, Marlene Dietrich is smiling. Donna Karan's Fall 2012 collection gave menswear a seductive turn, somehow making the double-breasted suit look just as sexy as the fitted dresses. Whereas past collections felt loose and languid as a yoga pose, this latest collection was all about sharp tailoring and even sharper edges. Blazers had pointed shoulders, tops had extra wide, stiff cuffs, skirts and dresses were folded and gathered like the face of a Frank Gehry building. There was lots of structure, and it seemed that Karan is making a strong argument for the 90s power suit. That models were adorned with miniature fedoras - thank you, Stephen Jones - gave the whole show a slightly playful and sexy undertone, as if they were Vegas dancers playing businesswomen. That said, Donna Karan does have a good sense of humor, and the show closed with a Whitney Houston song - "I'm Every Woman." No one knows that better than Karan. Side note: the show opened with a preview of her Casual Luxe line, which could be summed up as tartan-loving biker chick. Those looks follow at the end of the collection photos.

Nina Dobrev Joins Ashley Greene and Camila Alves For Fashion Week Fun

Nina Dobrev spent the weekend in style as she hit up several New York Fashion Week shows. The Vampire Diaries star kicked things off on Saturday at Christian Siriano before joining her friend Camila Alves at Herve Leger by Max Azria and at Monique Lhuillier. The pair made a quick change between the latter two shows, as Camila swapped her sexy Hervé top in favor of a bright-yellow dress, and Nina changed out of a simple, black look and into a bold, blue sheath. Yesterday, Nina was back on the scene as she teamed up with another star of a bloodsucking franchise, Ashley Greene, at the DKNY presentation. The actresses claimed coveted spots right along the runway and chatted up their seatmate, model Coco Rocha, during the show. Nina had to leave the fashionable festivities shortly after DKNY wrapped, however, tweeting that she had a 6 a.m. call time on The Vampire Diaries set today. Alexander Wang staged a dark and dramatic show tonight at Pier 94, setting the mood for a high-impact show complete with a tricky "runway" configuration, strategically placed mirrors, and our favorite highlight of the night, a surprise appearance from Gisele Bundchen. "I personally think he's a great guy, a great person, and he's always so sincere," said Bundchen. "He asked me and I'm very happy that I was able to be here." The show kicked off with a vast array of structured, lacquered wool coats paired with laser-cut fishnet turtlenecks - pulled over part of the face to look like a mask - and waxed suede manipulated to look like leather. The latter was used to create black- and oxblood-hued military-inspired dresses and sexy front-slit skirts. Then came the fringe, thus far a burgeoning trend on the Fall runways, juxtaposed on crisp collared shirtdresses and tops. The surprise closer of the evening featured top models like Karolina Kurkova and Bundchen facing the mirrors - then peeling off their half-masks. Mystifying? Yes, but there's no confusion when it comes to Wang and his modern way of thinking.

True to the Rachel Zoe manifesto, her Fall '12 lineup delivered a unique mix of nostalgic and contemporary-cool pieces. Inspired by the rock 'n' roll glamour of 1960s London - think Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull - the collection boasted all the trademark elements of that oh-so-cool era. Knit minidresses, sequined gowns with updated twists, tailored menswear-inspired suits in jewel-toned velvets and tweeds, and an arsenal of must-have shaggy faux fur coats set the retro tone without ever seeming outdated. To top off these sweet rocker looks, the models also showed off something entirely new to the Zoe brand: chunky art-deco jewelry and cozy-chic Winter accessories. Translation? She's given us even more reason to accent our cold-weather attire with luxe snoods, statement collar necklaces, and bold fur cossacks. While the effortless feel of Rachel Zoe's collection may be rooted in old-school shapes and silhouettes, her execution proved that she's designing for a modern woman with a playful penchant for stylish throwbacks.

VPL by Victoria Bartlett Fall 2012

Victoria Bartlett has cornered the knit market with her on-trend, sexy spin on the classic sweater, and the VPL by Victoria Bartlett Fall '12 collection gave us many more iterations to love. Known for her body-conscious silhouettes and athletic aesthetic, the designer offered up avant-garde, futuristic chic with ornate spiderweb-inspired cable-knit pieces, drapey cowl-neck tops and dresses, and bright pops of color and metallic sheen. Models also wore tight, solid leggings layered with strong-shoulder sweaters, shin guards, and of course VPL's signature colorblock underpinnings - looking almost ready for a battle. Prabal Gurung Fall 2012

Maybe it was the models' purply-blue eyeshadow, the iridescent sleeves on the structured coats, the black carpeting on the runway, or the really cool black cape that opened the show, but the Prabal Gurung woman felt mysterious - or downright otherworldly - for Fall 2012. Gurung's carefully sculpted aesthetic was still completely feminine, thanks to ruffled tops, feathers, and beading, but there was a definite futuristic element thanks to digital prints and a series of gold lamé pieces with strong geometric shapes. As for the woman of mystery, sometimes the models were in sunglasses, other times in tall black hats, as if they were changing personas with each look. If the show started in dark, it ended incredibly light, with a series of ethereal white gowns that seemed to float down the runway, and likely right onto a red carpet sometime in the near future.

Trends: Cutouts, feathers, futurism, minimalism, capes, balloon sleeves.
Colors: Black, gold, white, cobalt, digitized prints.
Key Piece: Joan Smalls in a beaded, semi-sheer black gown was pretty gorgeous.
Accessories: Triple-strap black heels, gold power belts, black police hats.
Who Would Wear It: Someone who wants to make a dramatic statement. We can see Diane Kruger in the gold dresses, Jennifer Aniston in the short black dresses, and Emma Stone in the blue print dresses.
